Maro is a favourite to win the Festival da Canção 2022 semi-final one

It was a fierce fight for first place in our poll, but Maro ended up on top with her enchanting and other worldly ballad, “saudade, saudade”. The songstress, who saw the acoustic version of her song go viral over the past few weeks, enchanted both Portuguese and international fans.

Maro gathered 23.62% of the votes – that’s 629 votes.

The runner-up in our poll is Fado Bicha with “Povo Pequenino”.

The duo gave Maro a run for her money, with 19.68% of our readers wanting to see the experimental group in the grand final. This equates to 524 votes.

Rounding out the top three is established singer-songwriter and The Voice Portugal mentor, Aurea.

Well-known to national and international audiences, her song “Why” gathered 17.95% of our readers’ preferences. That’s 478 votes.

According to you, the fourth and fifth finalists should be Os Quatro e Meia with “Amanhã” and TheMisterDriver with “Calisun”. The former Portuguese pop-rock band gathered 12.24% of the preferences (326 votes), while the latter proclaimed punk-rock turned experimental artist gathered 7.59% (202 votes).

If it was up to you, FF, Diana Castro, Norton, Kumpania Algazarra and Valas & Os Astronautas would pack their bags and go home.

Why every year there’s a song called ‘Saudade’ in this festival?!
