The grand final of the American Song Contest is almost upon us, where one act will walk away with the trophy. And we now have the full line up for the finale, after the televote qualifiers of semi-final two were revealed.
Usually we would find out the televote qualifiers of a particular show in the following week’s episode. But with rehearsals for the grand final needing to get underway, these results have come a little earlier.
American Song Contest: Semi-final two televote qualifiers
These qualifiers were revealed on E! News: Daily Pop. The four acts who received the good news were:
- American Samoa: Tenelle – “Full Circle”
- Connecticut: Michael Bolton – “Beautiful World”
- North Dakota: Chloe Fredericks – “Can’t Make You Love Me”
- Texas: Grant Knoche – “Mr. Independant”
Tennessee’s Tyler Braden is the other qualifier of semi-final two. He earned his spot in the grand final after winning the episode’s jury vote.

This now means we have a full line up for the grand final. The ten acts who will battle it out for the American Song Contest crown are:
- Alabama: Ni/Co – “The Difference”
- American Samoa: Tenelle – “Full Circle”
- Colorado: Riker Lynch – “Feel The Love”
- Connecticut: Michael Bolton – “Beautiful World”
- Kentucky: Jordan Smith – “Sparrow”
- North Dakota: Chloe Fredericks – “Can’t Make You Love Me”
- Oklahoma: AleXa – “Wonderland”
- Tennessee: Tyler Braden – “Seventeen”
- Texas: Grant Knoche – “Mr. Independant”
- Washington: Allen Stone – “A Bit of Both”
Public voting for the grand final opens on Sunday 8 May at 17:00 EDT.
The grand final airs on Monday 9 May at 20:00 EDT, with the public vote closing after the last act has performed. These votes will then be combined with the jury’s score to determine the winner and this will be revealed live during the show.

The songs in the American Song Contest are not memorable. However, as per staging, only 2 I see are “Eurovision” worthy-ish: Oklahoma and Texas. Hoping one of these 2 will win.
Semifinal 2 was the strongest of the two semis as all the televote favorites were placed in there and it was going to be true bloodbath.
I’m happy to see American Samoa up there with the rest of the ten as the sole territory standing. I’m happy and surprised for Ni/Co (AL), likewise for Chloe Frederickson (ND) and Grant (TX).
The American Contest is a total failure. It lacks everything that makes eurovision worth watching.
Eurovision became worth watching after finding its footing for over 6 decades.
I’ve been watching the ESC since 2013; but after watching replays of even older ESCs, I think the ESC found its footing in the 1990s, when more songs atypical of the traditional Eurovision song came to the stage. The ASC had 2 benchmarks (ESC and MelFest) to work with, to make this show right. Every ESC/MelFest from 2010 onwards would have made excellent playbooks to show the ASC producers what to do and what not to do. I’m appalled by the misrepresentation of people of colour in the final and this contest Kansas where are you in the final with Tell Me? I give this 2 seasons the max because of this.
I’m not entirely sure you can tell the public to vote for POC. How is the show going to get cancelled for this? Not to mention 30% of the acts in this final are POC so it’s hardly like there’s some unrepresentative agenda going on?
It’s unjust and not representative of diversity of music in the USA , which the USA should be a beacon for . We always say this but racism never disappears in the USA. Nothing will change in this country if this is the mind set. is the status quo and this contest proves it. 30% as you say is there, I’m sorry but 30% is not enough at least 50% is real equality.! The show is absolutely a non-event in US, nobody knows about it or cares. I hope they improve it next year.

I am in the US. I have not watched a single episode. Given that, I will say the fact it has been going on for WEEKS, it is too damn long, and no one cares. We don’t need it. I know no one who is watching it.
It does have a following, albeit small. I am admin in the biggest American Song Contest Facebook group. It has over 5k members and grows by several hundred each week.
Fair enough, but it’s only long because the show had to trim down 56 entries to just 10 finalists.

Surprised to see Connecticut here; the song isn’t anything too special and there were a bunch of better songs (e.g., Georgia, New York, Kansas). Am rooting for Oklahoma or Texas to win, so probably someone else is going to lol
Connecticut is Michael Bolton, a (past) big music star. It would have been an absolute shame for him not to get a spot in the Final.
Anyway the whole thing is rigged, half of the jury is made of program directors of iHeartRadio so they pick who they want and we’ll never know about the televote results.
IHeartRadio is one of the show’s sponsors and also one of the biggest radio networks in the country. If I’m not mistaken, their stations are not solely CHR.
Then again, we have 56 jurors voting for a dozen songs this week so there’s bound to be some strong loyalties over certain genres.
You’re probably right. If they don’t show the HARD numbers after this contest is over (the way ESC, MelFest and every other contest that uses some form of split voting procedure), then it is quite likely that the real decisions were made in some corporate back room, and the televote is a farce.
