I’d like to add that every time Croatia pulls out to perform in the second half, they always get the earliest spot either 10th, 11th, 12th. Look at their running order in recent years, how tf is that fair.
Even in general, let’s say finals, I’d like the running order not to depend on the odds. Any amazing song would win performing from any position, while songs that have low chance of winning do worse when they get placed say second.

I really liked Slovenia this year. Sadly, I knew they probably wouldn’t qualify, but they were so charming and their performance was so sweet, I was won over. I just love it when a country sends a young artist at the start of their career, and even if they don’t do very well, I can follow them in years to come, having found out about them from Eurovision.

The thing is, July Jones (at least with that song) in no way, shape or form represents our language, culture or taste. Anyone could send her. I’d rather we send what we like than what will possibly do well. Sadly our music isn’t as “cool” and well liked as typical Balkan ballads, Swedish schlager or similar, but I don’t think we should be pressured to change who we are for the sake of pleasing others. Such notions are extremely ironic in a contest that has a large LGBT following. There are worse things in life than being unpopular and never… Read more »

I don’t think it has anything to do with unpopularity. The issue is that Slovenia sent inexperienced kids with a shallow song. It made me think of a random band at a high school prom. Eurovision has evolved over the past years. Cute isn’t good enough anymore.

They did seem pretty overwhelmed on that stage, that’s true. Too bad they didn’t sing it as confidently as in EMA. My favourites in EMA (well, after Gusti & Leyre) were actually the ones who placed second, Battista Cadillac. They’re experienced performers but I don’t know if they would have done much better since it would have probably been another static performance and we would have probably ended up having this conversation either way, who knows.

Considering what Lithuania with stacked against with (Early running order slot, less diaspora allies in semifinal, odds predicting no qualification) It’s a miracle it actually reached the top 5 With the semifinal one televote rank. Here’s what I admire about lithuania. Unless they send something truly bad that deserves to stay behind in the semi final, they always defy the odds. I’d like to see this country win Eurovision one day to join its neighbors Estonia and Latvia, and I hope next year Monika Liu’s top 15 placement can encourage bigger names to sign up for the national final.

I know the whole world hate Russians now but I still might be welcome here. Watched the first semi and the final – cool stuff but unfair jury voting. Countries like Lithuania and Iceland didn’t deserve to qualify instead of Albania and Austria. A total political thing here due to Albania allowing Russian tourists despite sanctions against Russia and due to Austria refusing to allow its citizens to organize anti-Russian strikes in Vienna. These two countries are the arch enemies of Russia’s but their Eurovision entries got penalised just because their governments refused to torment Russian citizens and tourists. Their… Read more »

The delusion and victimization is really passing to all Russians… Do you really think that those situations were in people’s minds?! I am not aware of Albania/Austria “non-hate” on Russian people and I am not even sure if those stories are true. But they are totally irrelevant. My advise is for you to spend a few days with regular European people and try to recover from your brain wash

Albina would have qualified more easily in the line-up of 2022, sorrounded by mostly ballads. Mia would have qualified more easily in 2021, sorrounded mostly by bops. Agree? Disagree?Did we just have a poor luck regarding general contrast twice in a row? Or were the songs not as strong as qualifiers? Feel free to discuss.

SF1 in 2021 was a death semi. No one had any idea who would Q. It was anyone’s game until the rehearsals which at that point most people knew Romania, Slovenia, Ireland, North Macedonia & Australia would be 12th to 16th and then you had to guess who would come 11th. The competition was fierce between the remaining 11 acts and Croatia sadly bit the dust.

That’s what you get when you’re stuck with Switzerland and Scandinavians in the first semi finals Croatia, Switzerland is basically “subscribed” to pass every semi finals and Scandinavians vote for themselves. Zero points from Scandinavian and Baltic countries for Croatia, interesting. But anyway I wish Croatia great success in the years to come, waiting for that day they revive their old Eurovision glory and success.

Croatia being the 11th again is sad, but they are 28 points behind the 10th-placed song, so to say that they narrowly missed the spot in final is not totally correct. Plus they are not in top 10 both in jury and televote like last year. Same with North Macedonia, but losing to a suspicious Azerbaijan is another matter.

True, but as already pointed out, the difference comes from Scandinavian strategic voting and juries who overestimated Swiss entry by a country mile. If Croatia qualified for the final, she would have gotten at least some votes from the public. No disrespect towards Swiss guy – he is likable and he has a good voice, but to be fair, the song was not good.

The grand final gets alot more viewers than the individual semi finals and the final has alot more acts with 25/26 competing instead of around 17/18 acts which is more typical for the semis. It leaves alot of room for change in the results between the semis and final.

Second newest: “Croatia selected Mia Dimši?.”
Time for Wiwi to realize that they can also hurt someone’s chances of qualifying as they are an impactful format. Nowhere could you hear anything about Croatia. William even admitted he doesn’t want to review Croatia, but giving a poor reason. This is not a neutral Eurovision portal, this is a private blog where people post based on their likes. Each time i look at the scores i find something shocking

– Albania placing dead last in half of the juries (except greece that gave them 12 points). Also the televoting pattern for Albania is pretty weird (still last in 5 countries and top three in 3)

– Bulgaria getting 12 points from Albania’s televote???

-Latvia FLOPPING the televote really hard

-Lithuania getting high on the televote instead of the jury (which i’m quite happy about)

-Switzerland getting more than 1 point by the televote

-Armenia getting more points than norway in the televote

It’s not strange. Most songs that did better with televoting than Armenia were either from Top 5 or 2nd Semi Final. UK, Spain, Sweden, Serbia, Poland, and then from first Norway, Ukraine, Moldova. That’s already 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 points gone. So not really shocking.

To see Albania’s scores just confirms that her performance was distasteful to televoters and juries. Sidenote also ( 40,000 Youtube thumbs DOWN on her semi performance ) It’s unfortunate because she had a lot of potential, as the original song was pretty good when she was able to sing it well like in FIK. But it all went downhill after she did the revamp in the UK which made it more pop. She should have revamped it in the Balkans with a producer like Darko Dimitrov. It just started to morph into something totally different, where the final product became… Read more »

Are we trying to rationalize jury fraud here? Bulgaria’s sabotage of the Albanian song for example is very blatant. You can see that Greece rightfully gave Ronela a 12 because it is a Balkan song with relatable beats, however Bulgaria somehow did not feel the connection to an ethno pop song like Sekret. Bulgaria, the epicenter of Ronela type songs, gave her zero points. Ha ha! Nice joke.

Or, OR hear me out on this…. Music professionals in Bulgaria did not think Albania’s song was in the top 10 in SF1 in terms of quality. QUALITY. After all, it is a woman shouting noises on stage with flat vocals. This is not an example of “jury fraud” it is an example of a fair country that isn’t giving its points to a country just because they’re neighbours. Please.

Poor Croatia, 11th AGAIN. But Dora was already much better this year, they’ll get to the final eventually.

I did. It’s unusual, a bit vintage, and not mainstream. It’s in a national language which rarely who outside of the country knows. If you see the pattern of songs like Khteju tokes and Sebi, it should have been obvious that the televoters would like it even more.

Juries rewarding the banana song more than both Lithuania and Iceland is pure insanity, you simply can’t account for something like that… Other than that, surprisingly not too much to complain about on that side of the vote, they actually managed the most important thing they had to, getting both Portugal and Greece into the grand final overall top 10.
