I mean, some action has to be taken. A more clear and obvious winner in a National final than Jann is harsd to find. He won the televoting by a landslide and the whole Poland are very angry because of ehr corrupted jury. Also a whple world outside can see this really clear and have strong feelings about it. Totally understandable!

This is so going to finish last in the semis. Vocally weak and trying to perform a “slo mo” esque routine. Except it comes across as very amateurish. She’s going to get lost on that big stage in the arena. Sorry Poland. I loved “river” last year. but this is a major step backwards.

Because of it, there is a huge scandal in Poland. TVP changed the rules a few days before TBSE. One of jury Agustin Egurolla was Blanka’s choreographer. TVP does not show how many points each of artists got from viewers. It’s only a few examples that shows, it is something wrong with it. That’s why many of Poles think that TVP tricked us.

I have a feeling that TVP changed the rules when they learned there was a clear fan favorite. Before that, they thought they could just push Blanka like that (perhaps faking the voting results). Then they decided to show Jann as first in the televote, because otherwise that would be obviously suspicious, but they added the jury to make Blanka win anyway. That’s all super sketchy. I suppose Warner (Blanka’s label) bribed TVP or something.

Imagine being a Polish Eurovision fan. You wait many months for pre-selection applications to start. The favorite of the vast majority of fans appears. His popularity is growing, but it doesn’t correspond to the conservative TVP, which is a part of regime of the ruling party. TVP creates regulations, thanks to which Polish fans do not have a chance to choose their favorite. People in Poland create petitions, write to the EBU about the lack of transparency of voting, but there is no institution that would influence TVP. Also no other tv can take over the organization of the competition,… Read more »

I was impressed by Jann’s entry, he has some magnetism that got me thinking “woow, this would be interesting to see on the Liverpool stage”, but I must say he should have practiced his vocal technique, movements, and stage presence a lot. As for Blanca, her song sounds like thousands of songs of that genre (urban music?) released in Latin America and Spain in the past decade; it sounds and looks so lackluster and weak. Honestly, I can’t be sure if she could qualify.

Yes, people who’s first language is not English have accents. Even people who’s first language is English have different accents. What of it? Seriously, it’s such a xenophobic and classist thing to say. Does his accent bother you because it signifies he’s from some poorer part of Europe? Is accent a deal breaker for you when it comes to people in real life to? Seriously the unconcious bias of some people and the xenophobic things they say. People have problems with recognising lyrics sang by native English speakers as well, it’s not a matter of an accent.

No, his accent is Polish. I just knew he doesn’t sing in Polish, I don’t know why I thought of French 😀 but it’s weird he’s getting exactly the same comments as Ochman. “Strangers” knowing where they studied etc., defending their obviously bad accents. By not questioning the winner, we’d be giving TVP permission for their corrupt and nepotistic practices. And though it’s already bad, it can get even worse the more things we let slide. Just look at how attitudes towards LGBT+ people have changed once TVP deemed them public enemy numer one. And before LGBT+ people, it was refugees. This is way deeper than not liking who won. It’s about transparency of the vote, calling out injustice and holding TVP accountable for their actions. They cannot keep thinking they can continue with their “inconspicuous” acts and remain untouchable.

Ang

I think some Polish fans should write to the EBU. There are rules regarding how countries have to organise their national final & they must not bring the contest into disrepute. Corruption like this is not a good look so I doubt the EBU would be happy with Poland right now. Remember this isn’t the first time Poland has cheated, being 1 of the 6 involved in the voting irregularities last year so their points were disqualified & replaced with aggregates.

This does remind me of how people were complaining when Michal Szpak won over Margaret back in 2016, but it’s not the same for me. Szpak won in the public televote with over 10% more than Margaret, and even if the juries had been involved, he clearly had the better vocals on the evening. That’s the problem.. TVP didn’t want a competitive song. Some broadcasters can’t afford to host, so are happy to send a song that will finish mid table on the grand final, knowing the entry is respectable. TVP is taking no such chance, and is happy to send entries that crash out in the semis, to make sure they don’t end hosting by accident..

The vote was rigged! Facts: 1) Blanka is friends with the son of Edyta Górniak who was head of the jury. 2) Her dancers are from the dance studio of yet another juror (Agustin Egurolla). 3) She’s been heavily promoted and already performed in TVP, e.g. at the New Year’s Eve broadcast with the same song. 4) Although Jann and Alicja were clearly the favourites, the jury strategically put them in 4th and 5th places to make sure that who the jury picked won. 5) The rules on how the winner is picked were changed 2 days before the broadcast.… Read more »

She won because TVP wanted her to win. For example the article about her winning was published at 15:33 and the contest started at 17:30. What is more, Augustin shouldn’t be in jury, because his dancers took part in artists’ permoformances during contest. At least TVP changed the rules a few days before 26.02. To sum up, it shows that it wasn’t a fair contest.

Jann’s performance could have been polished in 2 months with a good stage director. But it’s more probable that even if he won, the staging provided by TVP would have been horrendous and outdated. So maybe it’s better that he has avoided it after all.

Very surprised by this result. It does seem very odd, to say the least. Poland had several very good choices tonight, none of them being Blanka. Jann was a clear and obvious favourite going into the NF and by many accounts appears to have won the public vote by a landslide. If there were multiple jury connections to Blanka, these should have been conflicts of interest.

Sadly, it reminds me of Romania 2019.

Well I have more songs in my personal palylist of the songs out 2023 than in going to Liverpool. One of the worst ESC ever.

I’ve seen the national final performance. Man this is terrible. Compared to this one, even The Ride sounds like a masterpiece xD

Not even surprised considering the people of the jury. Australia, Slovenia are still the best semi 2 acts now.

Alika is easily winning semi 2 for me thus far, but yeah, Australia and Slovenia are definite qualifiers too.

I can see why you like Alika’s entry, Colin, but I don’t see her easily pwinning SF2. As it stands, I think Reiley is the safest bet to win SF2, but I agree with you that Voyager will likely translate very very well on stage and could do much better than people are generally giving them credit for.

If her song is good, and I hope so for Georgia. But I’m still keeping neutral expectations in case it disappoints.

You’re all sleeping on Lithuania making it to the final. Yes, it wasn’t the first choice of mine to represent the country, but compared to some of the other semi final 2 songs, it’s feeling a little stronger by now.

Reiley? Wow 🙂 For me, Reiley is a candidate to be last in this Eurovision. He can’t sing, the song is very bad, generic, we heard it all before, and it is kinda irritating as well. I know he is big on TikTok, but will he mobilize his fans to vote for him? That’s a big question. I don’t have a feeling that Eurovision and TikTok have many things in common. Alika also signs a song which might be a cliche and we heard it all before as well, but someone who tunes in and just watches the show, without… Read more »

I have to disagree that Reiley’s song is very bad, generic and irritating. The studio version is one of the best produced songs this year, contemporary but with an 80s feel. I could genuinely hear the song in the mainstream pop charts, perhaps by Troye Sivan or The 1975. I think his stage production seriously needs improvement, perhaps something like the music video could really stand out at the semi final. I don’t think he will be last as long as his vocals and staging make an impact. His studio version is one of my most played ESC songs this… Read more »

I agree it is very well produced, but I still don’t see any value or appeal to the song. I don’t even listen contemporary music that much, but I feel I heard so many similar songs.

With the way SF2 is shaping up this year, Poland could’ve sent anything and still have a chance to qualify.
But still…
