Lithuania has finally kicked off its highly anticipated new pre-selection Eurovizija.LT. The first heat featured 8 hopefuls fighting for 2 spots in the final on February 17. The finalists from the first show are VB Gang and Silvester Belt.

The show was presented by Gabrielė Martirosian and Nombeko Augustė Khotseng. While a TikToker Nerijus Trilikauskas hosted interviews with the artists from the green room.

The result was determined by both a jury and the public, who each accounted for 50% of the score. Among the jury members were the current LRT Eurovision broadcast commentator Ramūnas Zilnys, LRT Opus director and previous LRT commentator until 2019 Darius Užkuraitis, songwriter and composer of Ieva Zasimauskaitė’s entry at Eurovision ‘When We’re Old’ – Vytautas Bikus, performer Ieva Narkutė and the artist herself who brought ‘Sentimetai’ to Eurovision – Monika Liu.

The show has, as expected, delivered a tough fight between returning artists and some fierce debuting artists.. Among them is Antoine Wend, with whom we recently had the chance to speak about his experience in X Factor Lithuania and opening Barbara Pravi’s concert. Then there’s Silvester Belt who released his entry ‘Luktelk’ receiving great response from the public. And Vidas Bareikis is back. He’s the artist who brought „Pusvalanduko“ and „I love my phone“ to the pre-selection in previous years…but now he’s singing a song featuring the Korean language.

Like in the previous Pabandom iš Naujo, the acts were judged by a panel of musical experts and journalists. They will deliver a total of 50% of the votes. The remaining half will be determined by the public.

If you can follow the show, you can do it by watching the broadcast from 20:00 CET. It was live on LRT’s website, as well as on LRT1 or LRT Lituanica.

What do you think about Eurovizija.LT 2024 heat one results? Are you satisfied with the qualifiers or wished someone else made it through?

Sorry but Luktelk is just plagiarism… too similar to Hooverphonic’s Amalfi.

Already Two extremely catchy and memorable songs that I can see in the Malmo grand final? Yeah this year is easily gonna be better for the Lithuanian National Selection than last time!

It surprises me to see Wend out. VB Gang and Silvester are worthy finalists, they won’t make the competition easy for The Roop.

“KABOOM!!!” – I know that some people in other forums have already complained that this song is to them potentially racist against Koreans. I know nothing about this personally, but I feel that should be acknowledged before I look at the song, as it is a very serious interpretation from them. Anyhow, the song… It’s a dance track split into two tempo sections: Fast and Very Fast. This makes it reminiscent of early video game music (think SEGA in the 1980s/1990s). The dancer’s outfits remind me of Turkiye 2010 (Manga), but other than that, they don’t do anything except dance.… Read more »

Don’t analize too deep. The leader is famous for his gag music performed in serious fashion. F.E. His entry with “Pusvalandos” – about being late everywhere. Or his Christmas song about “complaining” about getting gifted only Shampoo and Shower Gel. Or his most famous songs about being angry “Nervai”.
Also he’s a theatre director, so his videos and performances are very entertaining and visual.
TL;DR This whole song is an inside joke (except that we have exactly 0 jokes about Koreans)

How is it racist to Koreans? This is a tribute if anything?

“Luktelk” – I just looked at this song, and it’s surprisingly interesting. There is a lot of subtext. The lyrics at first suggest a playful tease on the dance floor making false promises about loving people “tomorrow”, but the music is definitely deeper than that underneath. “The sun” seemingly isn’t rising again in this song, which could mean there would be no tomorrow at all. There’s a dark twist to this song that is perhaps going unread. The E minor key (in the live performance) to many means restlessness (dance club), but is also associated with grief, loss and mourning.… Read more »

Silvester – a really strong contemporary act, sings in national language. Perfect !

For Eurovision, I think the most appropriate two went through.

But for any rock songs, Clockwork Creep is a very, very good rock song – probably the best I have come across in the season so far.

I was surprised the televote disliked it and only the juries appreciated it.

So the moldovan selection is only good if it has the tacky shock humor entry where the man can’t even sing, but the lithuanian selection is trash for not qualifying an extremely bland song in favor of one (1) joke entry that’s actually catchy and fun and one very slick pop track with a great performance?

Make up your mind bro. What happened to having a sense of humor?

The best tracks of this semi made it through! I’m quite pleased bc I like both songs, though I got to admit that I never got why was Antoine hyped so much in this site, his song was unremarkable :/

Devito

He was hyped because of covers such as “SOS d’un terrien en détresse” and “Voilà”. Whenever he sings in English, it sounds generic and boring.

He should prefer to participate for another country in the future with a song in french (Luxembourg or Monaco for example)

Silvester was really good and I realise how much I like the Lithuanian language so I wouldn’t mind if he wins this. I didn’t hate “Kaboom!!!” either – it actually came across live much better than I expected. Overall I think Lithuania is doing a good job.

Such a pity The Roop is winning it no matter what cause Silvester really delivered. If The Roop doesn’t win, people will be voting for VB Gang anyway because of Kaarija. We have to many Kaarija wannabes in this NF season.

Hope Silvester has better luck than Ruta Mur last year.

No, VB Gang are nothing like Kaarija and would have swept the televote in any year. I think people will appreciate Silvester’s song in time whereas Kaboom can only get moldy. The Roop will mostly likely do well with the televote but if they dont have a good song, that’s the end of them. Silvester still has a shot!

The hype over The Roop is over. Their recent songs didn’t have much success, so they’re trying to re-boost their music career. I doubt they would win with the same act for the third time now. The Roop has tried multiple times (including the 2018 entry), which only proves they need to shock in a good way to win. The title of the song sounds a bit dull, so I think they aren’t winning again this year.

Kaboom had ‘many’ and by ‘many’ we mean a bit more than a thousand, because a) he is well known in Lithuania, b) he was asking all over social media for his friends to vote for him.

The past years have show that Lithuanians usually vote in the final only. I think the picture will be quite different then and the furthest Kaboom can go is 3rd-4th place. Gosh, I hope I’m right ?

Roop has no hype, like a zero or even negative. Very few people know they’re competing at all. And the one thing you need to know about our mentality is that we root for underdogs which naturally penalizes overachievers. If anything, almunies from The Voice or X-factor have better chances before them(Monika Marija, Meid?). At the end everything will be decided by their songs and, more importantly, their performance. F.e. winning X-factor did not help Antoine at all he was near the bottom at tele votes which prooves that different demographics watch these channels.

I’m happy with the results. I was not too confident in the format changes, but the graphics actually made me hopeful that LRT is continuing to do a good job. Take, for instance, any “attempt” from 2005 to 2015, and you can see how drastically LRT improved in such a short time.

One thing, though: LRT moved from Heats. Heats were meant to indicate who was worthy of semi-finals and then final. There’s no more heats; only semi-finals and final left.

Results feel right here. I might put Luka above Vidas but that’s a coin flip, and nobody else was even close. The Antoine hype went out with a whimper.
