The third night of Festival di Sanremo just ended, and after seeing the rest of 14 out of 29 artists perform tonight, we have a new top five. The ranking is the result of a split vote: 50% televote and 50% radio jury.
Festival di Sanremo took place in the city of Sanremo at Teatro Ariston, just like in previous years. The 15 contestants performed alongside the festival’s orchestra.
In the “New Proposals” category, emerging artists Alex Wyse and Settembre competed. Settembre won both the “New Proposal” award and the Critics’ Award with his song, “Vertebre.”
A surprise of the night was Victoria from Måneskin (winners of Eurovision 2021), who returned to perform in Sanremo as a bassist for a special performance with the iconic band Duran Duran.
The show was hosted by Carlo Conti and co-hosted by Miriam Leone, Elettra Lamborghini, and Katia Follesa. Tonight’s vote was split equally between the televote and the radio jury.
Festivali di Sanremo 2025: Night 3
Top 5
This night, once again, the voting started from the very first performance, with additional time allowed for voting after the last performance. A provisional ranking is created after each night, but this year, the full chart will not be made public. Instead, the audience will only know which artists made it into the top five, but in a completely random order.
The rankings from the first three nights are crucial for the contestants, as they will contribute to the final result in the Grand Final.
After the third night, the artists who made it into the top five are:
- Coma_Cose – “Cuoricini”
- Brunori Sas – “L’albero delle noci”
- Irama – “Lentamente”
- Olly – “Balorda nostalgia”
- Francesco Gabbani – “Viva la vita”
In the top five, we have Brunori Sas, just as on the first night, with a wonderful ballad about childhood, family, and the passage of time. He seems to be one of the festival’s favorites.
Tonight also brings Francesco Gabbani into the top. He represented Italy in Eurovision in 2017, and this year at Sanremo, he delivers an anthem celebrating life as it is, with its ups and downs, highlighting the importance of living in the moment.
Irama has competed multiple times in Sanremo, coming close to winning in the past. This year, he presents a heartbreaking song about love slowly fading.
Olly received a standing ovation for his performance tonight. His song reflects on looking back at one’s life with both joy and regret, a sentiment that deeply resonated with the audience.
Last but not least, Coma_Cose got everyone dancing, while the entire audience sent them cuoricini (little hearts) with their hands. Their sweet song strikes a balance between love and distance, emphasizing the significance of small gestures of affection in a relationship.
Night 3 running order
- Clara – “Febbre”
- Brunori Sas – “L’albero delle noci”
- Sarah Toscano – “Amarcord”
- Massimo Ranieri – “Tra le mani un cuore”
- Joan Thiele – “Eco”
- Shablo feat. Gue, Joshua e Tormento – “La mia parola”
- Noemi – “Se t’innamori muori”
- Olly – “Balorda nostalgia”
- Coma_Cose – “Cuoricini”
- Modà – “Non ti dimentico”
- Tony Effe – “Damme ‘na mano:
- Irama – “Lentamente”
- Francesco Gabbani – “Viva la vita”
- Gaia – “Chiamo io chiami tu”
Who was your favorite tonight? What are your thoughts about tonight’s top 5? Let us know in the comments below.
I don’t understand the point of cover night… never watch it. I will watch what I can of the final but I want to see Eesti Laul…?????
You don’t understand the point of pure pleasure? Your loss.
Seriously, though… it is a musical education of Italian (and worldwide) culture. A feast for the senses.
Italy don’t mess about, do they? It’s all quality.
Coma Cose wow. Great performance and catchy song.
Francesco for win, I really like that song.
It would have been cool if after the top 5 of this evening they gave the overall top 5 televote/radios.
Brunori Sas has big chances to be in the overall top 5 Saturday night.
Imo the Final top 5 on Saturday will be the same as the press/web top 5 of the 1st night.
Simone, Giorgia, Lucio, Brunori, Achille, one of them will win and Carlo Conti said tonight that the winner of Sanremo will represent Italy in Eurovision so it means all the Sanremo participants have already given their consent to go to Eurovision.
Enjoyed Giorgia. Italy always produces songs like hers that i call timeless classics. To think this is what Eurovision use to be like with a live orchestra before the gimmicks with the technology took over and became king of the contest.
Buonanotte a tutti. Tomorrow/Saturday more !
Francesco made it, I will sleep soundly.
Buonanotte a tutti, grazie for your joyous company…
Bring down the scoreboard, then break for ads… cruelty.
I need my beauty sleep, people.
We all know who the real winner is (Gabry Ponte). 🙂
And the orchestra, of course
The real winners are us, the audience!
Good for us. Good night x
Ooo, an unexpected fragile raspy voice from Settembre. (Not just a cute young man then.)
Alex Wyse – Ohh “Rockstar”sounds like a hit song to me!
My prediction:
Olly
Brunori Sas
Coma_Cose
Tony Effe
Irama
Both newcomers would be worthy winners of this section.
I want them both to win together
Alex seems inspired by D David
Settembre is too mature a performer for someone who looks 14
I think Settembre is 23/24? (Born 2001, so…)
So many amazing high-fashion gowns/dresses tonight, but the green one is my favorite
Stop al televoto!
Top 5 predictions….
Francesco G
Olly
Irama
Massimo
Clara
I don’t think Francesco will make it, he’s #27 on Spotify, behind 26 other Sanremo songs
Oh. Maybe it’s an age demographic thing.
I can see Elettra representing San Marino, really
Francesco’s gonna win. I can feel it in my waters.
Actually I think Rai might have internally selected Gabry Ponte for ESC (it wouldn’t surprise me if they did) 😀
Noooooooooo
Max 3 voti.
I like this limit. Repeat votes can really sway the result. 20 for Basel is just too much.
Gaia’s song is another Eurovision candidate, obviously. Underlying drama in the lyrics set to the dance beat; that works quite well. Evidently I love the live orchestra on that track, which would be lost at ESC sadly, but it’s still an effective concept.
I still miss the strings on Zitti i buoni.
Differences between Sanremo and ESC: Gaia will end in a bad position because of dancers on stage and choreo.
Gaia is not bad, but the song doesn’t really hold my attention. Maybe I’m just tired.
Don’t forget…
Still the Newcomers final to come!
Alex Wyse for me.
So much fun tonight as well! Every year if I start off less enthusiastically I really enjoy Sanremo. Buonanotte a tutti, ci vediamo!
Tutta l’Italia, Tutta l’Italia, Tutta l’Italiaa
Hey!
(I can’t help it… it’s an involuntary reaction)
I will be yelling this tune in my sleep as well for days that’s for sure
Awww, I love Francesco’s performances. He always brings his style, fabulous.
It’s like receiving a warm hug
He’s such a sweet man.
I would vote Francesco anytime. For me the more singalong song, the one who gives you really the will to sing it. The more musical.
Viva la vita!
Viva Francesco!
There’s not a huge difference between this year, and the reign of Amadeus… are artistic directors really that important?
It feels to me slightly more low key and down a notch. But it’s probably because Amadeus and Fiorello are more naturally funny than Carlo, character wise, than a question about artistic direction.
Yes, probably. They are a bit zanier, especially Fiorello.
Artistic directors choose the singers. So I guess they are important.
Yeah, but I can easily see Amadeus picking these same singers and songs. Maybe he would have added one a little more wild, though.
Yeah, maybe something like the punk band he had past year.
The problem is the music major companies. I guess they choose the singers to present and the authors writing the songs. That’s the problem. All the songs of this year have been written by the same 6 or 7 authors. Blanco, Abbate, Simonetta, Petrella, etc.
There’s no business like show business!
It’s pretty consistent pverall with the previous years, but it’s defintely subdued in camparison imho. Carlo is a good host, but more serious overall than Ama, who really made the whole week more fun to watch. Plus Amadeus would include more off the wall performers that always brought the energy up a bit more
Damn. That dress must have cost a lot of cash.
That necklace (by Leo Pizzo) looks expensive too.
Elettra’s dresses are by Zuhair Murad; Katia’s are by Luisa Beccaria; Miriam’s are Armani Privè (Bulgari jewels).
Subtle microphone replacement delivery there 😀
Corpse Bride vibes from Elettra
Iva Zanicchi is 85 y.o. but she still got more energy than some of the contestants.
Tony Effe is a cutepie and I like Damme na mano more and more, those vibes are special
Did everyone take a Xanax before going on stage tonight? None of them seem to care.
Francesco G will be on soon, smiling his smile, lighting up the world
Please bring back the gorilla as a surprise to wake people up.
Maybe tomorrow night… he is performing his own older songs, I think?
Imagine if the gorilla is Blanco. (That’s not a spoiler, I’m just dreaming.)
Tony Effe is so damn hot!
I like Tony’s tattoo-oo-oos
Tony’s literally a work of art. Even the camera operators got excited. Black leather and chains too. But oh dear, those vocals, oh I’m sorry Tony
I concur on all fronts
“Cuoricini” is a perfect song for Eurovision, because it’s infectious and at the same time it carries a message for the online world (think about it).
Cuoricini ??.to all of you!
Nikki any chance you’re italian?
Spanish, but I’ve loved Italian Music since an early age when people like Eros, Laura, NEK or Sabrina came to Spain regularly, singing in Spanish. I’m also fluent in Italian, so I can easy understand the show.
I asked ’cause Sanremo’s dressings are the main topic of each day after. That’s so typical italian.
I’m a costume and historical fashion nerd, and I know how to sew myself so I do care about that type of thing, you know. Silhouette, fitting, styling…
Costume comment- Coma_Cose The 20’s are not my speciality, I’m on the Victorian/ Edwardian style, and the Old Hollywood glamour. But she looks nice. I wonder if she has the same stylist as Achille, who’s also dressing very 20’s this year.
Not the same stylist.
Coma_cose: Valentino by Alesandro Michele
Achille: Dolce&Gabbana
Oh no, no Come Undone?!?!? Why oh why
They will be on tour soon, you will have to buy a ticket
Sure , if they’ll come here)
I like Dooran Dooran, I do, but that’s enough for now
Wild Boys is the song they performed at Sanremo 40 years ago, fun fact
“Wild Boys” was originally meant to be a film song. The film was never made, but the song was released anyway. And yes, those wild boys were meant to be gay, and they were meant to bring about an end to the world as we know it.
Ah, the gay agenda
Never enough Dooran Dooran)
100%
LGBTQ+!!!!
Yeah, thanks Simon 🙂
Wild LGBTQ Boys
There will be a time LGBTQ will be censored here. If we leave too much space to the new dict@tors growing all around.
Like “don’t say gay” Florida, alas. At least Sanremo is an escape from real life for five nights
Yeah Sanremo is totally a fantasy world, just produced by real people.
Victoria De Angelis sighting!
Does she not use her surname anymore?
Saturday… Jane McDonald You are my World…. Go Janey Cruise ship just docked in Sanremo
My god how much I LOVE Ordinary World
Doo-ran Doo-ran
Il Volo performing Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel tomorrow… thoughts?
Mash it up with Dami Im’s “Sound of Silence” (now there’s a challenge).
Hello Dami, my old friend
Fango in Paradiso for me
Olly is so good
Olly for the win
Olly’s full name is Federico Olivieri, just so y’all know
Staircase malfunction, emergency alert
