Maybe not the most popular selection among Eurovision fans in the craze of the Super Saturday, but fourteen acts remained in Germany’s Chefsache ESC 2025. And tonight was quite special, as this week, we finally got to hear the contestants’ Eurovision bids.

For the past two weeks, German commercial station RTL broadcast Stefan Raab‘s TV talent show to find the country’s next Eurovision star. In ways, for many, this selection reminds of “the good old days” when Stefan Raab selected Lena… although fifteen years have passed.

In tonight’s episode, the semi-final, fourteen acts competed for nine spots in the final that will be broadcast next week on Germany’s public channel ARD. An expert jury consisting of Stefan Raab, Yvonne Catterfeld, Elton and Max Giesinger determined the final nine.

You could watch Chefsache ESC 2025 from 20:15 CET on RTL in Germany. Unfortunately, as with the earlier shows, there was no international live stream.

Chefsache ESC 2025 semi-final results

  • Abor and Tynna “Baller” (QUALIFIED)
  • Benjamin Braatz “Like You Love Me” (QUALIFIED)
  • Cage “Golden Hour”
  • Cloudy June “If Jesus Saw What We Did Last Night”
  • Cosby “I’m Still Here” (QUALIFIED)
  • Feuerschwanz “Knightclub” (QUALIFIED)
  • From Fall to Spring “Take the Pain Away”
  • Jaln “Weg von dir”
  • Jonathan Henrich “Golden Child”
  • Julika “Empress” (QUALIFIED)
  • Leonora “This Bliss” (QUALIFIED)
  • Lyza “Lovers on Mars” (QUALIFIED)
  • Moss Kena “Nothing Can Stop Love” (QUALIFIED)
  • The Great Leslie “These Days” (QUALIFIED)

Hoping for Cosby. Good performance and with raw emotion. Loads of potential for Eurovision stage. Abor and Tynna would be ok with but please Germany not Feuerschwanz.

I actually watched all fourteen performances before looking up who qualified because I wanted to judge before knowing who made it or not. Quite a couple of songs I like didn’t make it, but I like Knightclub and Baller the the most. It would be great to hear German lyrics from a German entry for the first time since 2007(!). I was actually surprised that Knightclub’s verses were in German, but it made me happy.

I have just watched the acts / songs that are in next Saturday’s final. They are on RTL’s YouTube now.

The only acts that stand out for me are Feuerschwanz and Moss Kena. Abor & Tynna feel fresh too but the song is not that strong. I think the Germans will vote for kitsch rock on Saturday like they’ve done in the past. My personal favourite is Moss Kena. His song is simple but effective, it feels authentic and I think it will connect with juries and people at home.

Baller sounds promising, but the live performance wasn’t great. I don’t know if it’s due to the sound system or the singer not hitting the notes live.

“If Jesus Saw What We Did Last Night” was our (i’m german) best chance to send a very interesting and also quality song to basel – game over.

it is literally one of the overall best songs in any national selection this year! top5 in my playlist of songs from the national finals.

I was expecting something spectacular from Germany, but unfortunately it sounds just as bland as previous years. Right side of the scoreboard I’m afraid.

Baller is THE ONE.
It’s time for Germany to bring a bop in German!

As a religious person I am really glad that Cloudy June didnt qualify. The lyrics are mocking christianity. Same with July Jones. Lol, june and july. You got it, i guess

Religion is the most hateful and shortsighted entity in the entire world.

Oh my god Cloudy June didn’t make it to the final? OMG really? I mean there are like 2-3 generic songs that made it though. And yes the perfomance is not compared to the audio but how can she not pass. This mix had so many generic songs, some of which made it through but the production of “if jesus saw what we did last night” deserved at least this place in the final.

What in the name of the lords of the universe happened in Germany tonight? Did they turn the result table upside down? how did some of the best songs of all NOT advance to the final – this is scandalous in every way.

Cloudy June, Cage and Jonathan should have ALL gone through to the final. So many dull songs in the final. but hey we know Germans LOVE being bottom feeders when it comes to Eurovision results! In the bottom – where you belong – along with SPAIN! two countries that never learn….

Well Germany I hope you agree with me on the fact that Lyza is your best option, I love her song!
I liked Baller too but I prefer Lovers on Mars.

Well the vocals were not that bad and I liked this song. She would be my choice among the 9 finalists, not your, but that’s ok.

the only thing I can think of why they didn’t go through, is that what Raab said is maybe valid. We sent Lord of the Lost and got hurt badly with it. To take the chance again with a band (that I personally quite like) – which does play a genre that is mainly popular is Germany – and get last place again is something this show and as ESC-Heads don’t want. That’s the only thing I can think of, why it didn’t work out. In my taste this song was great, performance also good and staging could be better,… Read more »

looking at it there were 2 other rock songs so maybe they cancelled it out but even so i thought it was better than 5 or 6 of the songs that made it through

the “Knightclub”-song is literally the cringiest thing ever – and lets be honest – there is a huge chance the Germans will choose it – and we all know they ended last with Lord of the Lost – a 1000s times better act than the Medieval rock band, so they are looking for another last place finish.

Rock fans will vote for Feuerschwanz. It is everything rock music should be. Blood & Glitter was a mockery towards rock fans.

Everything here is my opinion. So don’t take it too hard. Some influenced by the comments of the jury. Abor and Tynna –> EDM mixed with Classic in German Good Song, if this goes through staging needs to be good. Night Club feeling Benjamin Braatz “Like You Love Me” 70s Feeling slow, good song. Cloudy June “If Jesus Saw What We Did Last Night” Not my cup of tea, but its good. Cosby “I’m Still Here” Very good. Feuerschwanz “Knightclub” Would be a fun entry of ESC, but in no way a winner From Fall to Spring “Take the Pain… Read more »

For everyone here: RTL is a commercal broadcaster, that’s why it geoblocked. It has nothing to do with ESC or wih Raab or anyone tonight. ARD is one of the state broadcasters, hence why its not geoblocked.

Thus far: Feuerschwanz was meh and Braatz was awesome if you like slow songs.

PhrygesStan

I can see nothing! Why they keep geoblocking it makes no sense!

I don’t get it. You want to win badly and insist you will but you are hiding your acts from voters. Do they think hidden is attractive? :))
