To be honest, I am not thrilled with Eurovision 2025 ( exceptions made for Ancient Iliria, Poland and Greece), but I am happy for having found jewels to my ears in some NFs that I added to my playlist:
Italy’s Dimenticarsi alla 7 and Eco
Portugal’s Tristeza and Calafrio
Ukraine’s Stay True
Slovenia’s O-ou

And adding Italy’s Amarcord and Portugal’s Cotovia…. Just loved San Remo and FdC this year.. but not pleased at all with their final results… well, it’s life

Made Of is in my personal Top 10. Turbo Zurka and Vále are better than the winners in Serbia and Greece respectively, and Revolution and On and On were okay for Melodifestivalen, but overall I’m finding not only the Top 10 but the Top 50 of Wiwi underwhelming. My personal Top 5 were Lusterka, Drobe, Külm, Monster by Jelle, and Znak, and 4 out of these 5 aren’t even in Wiwi’s Top 50 🙂

Tbh, it feels like a really strange top 10, top 5 song sounds really average. I’m glad to see Adel The Secong in the Top 5, totally deserved to win DMGP but was robbed so bad just for Denmark to get a NQ in May. My top 10: 1. Adel the Second – The Unluckiest Boy Alive – DMGP 2. An-Marlen – Külm – Eesti Laul 3. Greczula – Believe Me – Melodifestivalen 4. Jon Vitezi? – Vse ti dam – EMA 5. LaChispa – Hartita de llorar – Benidorm Fest 6. Gebrasy – Whole – Eurovizija.LT 7. Just? Baradulinait?… Read more »

Sanremo was soooo good this year (as per usual). I’m aware two of the songs above weren’t vying for a place in Eurovision but they were still competing in a national final technically lol

shout to DK Energetyk & their song “Sil’” for bringing my fave genre to euro-season ^^

Goldielocks indeed had a very interesting and creative pop song that I certainly like way more than Ich Komme. Wouldn’t have put it among my top preferences in the NF songs ranking though. That spots would have surely been reserved for Sanremo entries, with Fuorilegge, Battito and Il ritmo delle cose being the first ones to pop to my mind.

Katr?na Gupalo — “Scarlett Challenger” (Latvia) – There’s something incredibly poignant (and, at my age, personal) to me about a national finals song bargaining to fight the passage of time and get one more shot at your foolish dreams. Wish Markus Riva good luck for me,… Read more »

My personal places from 10 to 1: 1) “La cura per me” – Giorgia (Italy) I love everything of what Giorgia’s entry is giving : powerful vocals, true poetry and large range of emotions. It would have been a whole different story shoud the song have reach Sanremo top 5 considering this years outcome, and it could also have sat at the table of the ESC2025 great ballads alongside Switzerland or France and Austria to compete for the win. 2) “Cotovia” – Diana Vilharo (Portugal) To think the song was a few amount of public votes to make it to… Read more »

Congratulations Goldielocks! A cool song combined with a really interesting singer with great potential. It was amazing that despite illness during the final, the rehearsal footage was used on the actual night and Goldielocks still finished 2nd. Definitely memorable 🙂 Here is my top 10: 1 “Aina” Viivi (UMK) – This is the most beautiful song I’ve heard in the Finnish language so far, bravo. 2 “La cura per me” Giorgia (Sanremo) – A piano & strings song by Giorgia, Blanco & Michelangelo with a gorgeous vocal. It’s highly nostalgic and gives Whitney Houston vibes in places. This song personally… Read more »

10 – Rocco Hunt: Mille vote ancora (Italy) – It’s a quite good pop-rap song with a strong social message and a convincing delivery. It holds the mantle of Eden and Cenere pretty well. I think it was underrated, as much as among fans as in Sanremo final ranking.  9 – Chrust: Tempo (Poland) – One of the most original songs of the year. Modern and traditional. Eerie, yet pleasant. Experiemental, yet catchy. Would’ve been another excellent choice.  8 – Janek: Frozen (Estonia) – I love how well everything fits here. The vocal delivery and the staging add to the… Read more »

4 – Simone Cristicchi: Quando sarai piccola (Italy) – My winner of Sanremo is a special song for me. The melody is lovely, but as it uses classical Italian recitative to build-up slowly, it took time for me to appreciate it. Simone is very convincing live, and delivers its powerful climax very well. But even that’s beside the point here. It really is one of those cases where the lyrics are THAT powerful that they carry the song to its stardom. They tell Cristicchi’s personal story in such a poetic way, and as I’m currently living through a similar situation,… Read more »

I’ve been kind of baffled by the reception for Eco. It’s cultishly adored in some of the bubbles I’m in, but once I get outside of those, it’s like it doesn’t exist. On the big rating site, it hovers between 3 and 3.5 with more than 10,000 ratings. And of course, it was a non-factor in Sanremo. I find the song so pleasurable that I don’t get it at all!

Leaving out Nataleen with “The Game” from the top 50 is crazy!!! By far one of the best NF songs of the year. Including many boring MF entries that is a must always for sure. Probably the worst top 50 ever – but at least it is probably the best number 1 ever.
