We always wanted ABBA back involved with Eurovision and the EBU has delivered… to a degree, at least. After yesterday’s announcement teaser, it has now been revealed that as part of this year’s contest, the Eurovision Song Contest exhibition Good Evening Europe will debut at the ABBA Museum in Stockholm. The exhibition is set to open on May 6th in the build-up to the live shows of this year’s contest.
Okay, so maybe it wasn’t quite as “exciting” as the EBU made this out to be, or as “essential” to the contest as we might have been hoping. But some of the features sound like a whole lot of fun. The exhibition is very interactive and guests will get the opportunity to sing Eurovision karaoke on a stage, surrounded by props and costumes from contests gone by. We can’t wait to treat y’all to our performance of “Aina mun pitää”. There’ll also be an interactive quiz to test the very best in their Eurovision knowledge.
Of course, the exhibition will have a very heavy Swedish influence too. A separate section will house a memorial of sorts to the six Swedish winners of the contest, from ABBA through to Mans Zelmerlow. If Frans were to win the contest too, he’d get a chance to join them: the winner of the 2016 contest will visit the Exhibition the day after the grand final. There, they will be given the chance to donate an item from their performance to commemorate their victory.
The exhibition will take place in conjunction with the pre-existing ABBA Museum, located at the Pop House in Stockholm. Die-hard fans lucky enough to be in Stockholm will be able to take it all together this May.

@R: In Sweden ABBA became an excuse for everything even in the songwriting of the so-called Swedish Schlager which draws too much inspiration and ripping off of 80s pop tunes specially Italo-disco, Kylie Minogue, Modern Talking, etc and plenty of ABBA hooks (yes Alcazar I am taking to you before Stay The Night came up and being latter recycled into In The Disco). This wasn’t worth all the wait, it’s hardly the major announcement we been waiting for. Of course it’s a fun thing for all fans and could be worthy of a visit but it’s hardly major news for the contest.

France was favorite to won 1974 with the song “La vie à vingt-cinq ans” by Dani, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv8EkcJovC4, but a withdraw because of French president. They would sang 14 in contest with 18 countries. Sweden sang 8.
@fikri no one ever goes to Azerbaijan. Stockholm, however is a one to three-hour flight away from most of European countries
Fikri – that’s because Azerbaijan is a horrible country with a terrible human rights record that bribes judges to try and win the contest.
Darren, it’s a Swedish shrine cause it’s based in Stockholm. Of course they will promote it to the fullest.
If other countries built something they would have their wins in a shrine.
Not as exciting as I thought it would be but it still looks great! I do wonder if the six Swedish winners will have weird wax figures/statues dedicated to them. Might be slightly creepy. But I’m pretty sure Azerbaijan and Denmark had something similar when they were hosting the contest…

Why is there only a shrine to the six Swedish Eurovision winners? It’s not as if they actually hold the record yet for the most wins, or is it already decided that Frans will win?
Sweden does know that they still don’t have the record number of wins, or is this exhibition just going to be based in Stockholm?
Sweden really cares about Eurovision and its music, and that’s nice. I really admire how systematic they are about it. It’s no wonder they’re third largest music exporter in the world (after USA and UK). Considering the number of people in Sweden, it’s really impressive. Heja, Sverige!
