Following Duncan Laurence’s victory in Tel Aviv, the Eurovision 2020 host nation the Netherlands has come down with song festival fever. One symptom has been the endless speculation about which Dutch artist will be lucky enough to perform on home soil. And now the rumour mill has turned to the letter J.

The Netherlands: Will Judy Blank sing at Eurovision 2020?

As reported by AD.nl, Radio 2 DJ Timur Perlin has claimed that the first name of the man or woman who will represent the Netherlands this year starts with the letter J. The DJ made the claim on his show The Timur Timur Show. Perlin said that he knows the initial from a very reliable source.

Nevertheless, Timo does not know the full name of the Dutch representative. But he does have a suspicion: singer-songwriter Judy Blank, known for the song “Tangled Up in You”. According to Perlin, she has many qualities to be the perfect Dutch representative: she is known outside The Netherlands and she has a charismatic personality.

Who will represent The Netherlands at Eurovision 2020?

Jacqueline Govaert, the front-woman of the successful Dutch band Krezip, is also mentioned. Radio 2 listeners, incidentally, have other ideas about the mysterious entry with the initial J. For example, they named 00’s icons like Jim Bakkum and Jamai Loman. They both participated in the first edition of Idols in The Netherlands, where Jim placed second and Jamai won the competition.

And there is no shortage of Js with Eurovision 2011 participants the 3J’s. A more plausible option is former X-factor winner Jaap Siewertsz van Reesema, better known as Jake Reese, or Jett Rebel. They both have an English repertoire, and are successful outside the Netherlands, unlike the Jim, Jamai and the 3J’s.

The Dutch are, in any case, confident about their 2020 entry. According to Lammert De Bruin, a Dutch Eurovision journalist, the director of the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS knows who will represent the Netherlands and he said that we are going to win again. In a radio show, De Bruin reacted to this: ‘’I was shocked, because who will pay for that? But that is for concern later.”

Which J is most likely to represent The Netherlands?

What’s the point of this article? Let’s guess a nonsense from a local DJ, so now what… Let’s take all the singers in the Netherlands with J letter and make bets about who’ll be the representative in the end. Seriously?

No not at all. Her songs are folk/americana so you wouldn’t hear them on a pop radio station. Her music is somewhat similar to Isle de lange’s, but less country and more folk/jazz. Her career started with De Beste Singer Songwriter show where she finished pretty high.

The fact that she’s posting the screenshots is basically confirming she is NOT going. If this was a leak she would shut her mouth about it and definitely not building hype (yet). I don’t blame her for being happy with the free publicity, but I’m glad she’s not representing NL.

Never heard of Judy Blank as a Dutchman. Jim has the looks, not the voice. Jaap/Jake has the voice. Jamai hasn’t both of them. 3Js? After the last last place in 2011? No. Justine Pelmelay. She is 87. Jett Rebel? Risky. But interesting. Same accounts for Jacqueline. Jannes? The male Sieneke? No. Jada? A joke.

The ”reliable” sources of Dutch radio DJ’s shouldn’t be taken seriously. Just like when Giel Belen was 100% sure that he knew Maastricht was definitely gonna be the host city because of multiple totally ”reliable sources”. I really don’t think it’s anyone of the options in this poll.

Joan Franka or the 3J’s. Uhm I guess their ESC experience wasn’t the best of all. Jett Rebel would be cool.

Jacqueline Govaert could be quite a good choice. With the right style of song (something more like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8Q5-IxCoYQ), Jake Reese could also make for a nice choice. To be honest I doubt this radio DJ knows anything about the broadcaster’s decision, he’s probably just trying to get people talking about his show.

Another likely option would be Janieck Devy, who already penned Sarah McTernan’s song for Ireland last year, and makes a bunch of good songs himself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woJZvd7anq0 / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idVLI3s_CJo

I don’t understand either tbh, the song was probably the most beautiful ballad of the contest this year, unpopular opinion but it was better than Duncan

I understand your point of view, but it got zero point from jury. Belarussian voting was wrong, so Israel got zero points from jury. So weird. Anyway, I liked the song, and it’s all right. Greetings from Romania. Maybe the hosting country will not win again, I hope for The Netherlands to change that, because is always great to have surprises from the underdog.

For me the problem was that it looked very fake. It looked like he was acting that he was a singer. He learned how a singer should act and overacted. For me there was nothing genuine about it…
