Chakras Belarus Eurovision 2020

Twelve acts will battle it out in Friday evening’s show. But only one act can win Natsionalniy Otbor 2020 and sing for Belarus at Eurovision 2020.

And while we’ll have to wait some hours for the final results, we can reveal who our readers want to win. And it was very tight at the top. But after counting 2,858 votes, we can confirm that CHAKRAS are our readers’ favourites to win the national final.

Poll results: Chakras should win Belarus’ national final for Eurovision 2020

The “La-ley-la” group racked up 723 votes or 25.30% of all votes cast.

But the operatic trio only won by a very slim margin. National final veteran NAPOLI is only 19 votes behind. The “Dоn’t Let Me Down” singer took home 704 votes or 24.63% of all votes cast.

Speaking to wiwibloggs, NAPOLI explains the meaning behind her song: “It’s about relationships between people. It’s a very difficult topic because when people have relationships not everyone is honest with each other! And it’s making me very sad! I just want people to value the honesty and loyalty of their couple and not betray under any circumstances! I want everyone to be happy and believe in love!” Read the full interview.

Rounding up the top three comes Wiwi Jury favourite KeySi and her uptempo track “Chili Pepper”. She collected 582 votes, getting a 20.36% share of all votes cast.

Antranig writes: “Serving extra hot jalapeño realness. Forget the Melfest Hall of Fame — this piece of pure art belongs in the Eleni Foureira Museum of Fire. While it might not quite reach the levels of the fire queen, this is the best song Belarus have ever had at their disposal”. Read the complete Wiwi Jury.

The top three took over 70% of the vote between them.

However, two other acts favored by our in-house panel of music unprofessionals, VAL and Anastasiya Glamozda complete the top five. VAL garnered 230 votes (8.05%) while Anastasiya had the support of 172 readers (6.02%).

Credit where credits due – Belarus actually invested a decent effort in stagings and lighting.

English speaking skills, on the other hand, aren’t highly regarded. I would really need a partial translation for some of them.

Still, sincerely all the best to all the performers today. 🙂

Ps. I see “Da Vidna” is played in a commercial which perhaps gives it an unfair advantage.

Bosh! There we go. If Chakras wins, they’ve got the lyrics contest in the bag – no need to hear any other entries.

On a serious note, I actually find it disrespectful to lyricists. The words of a song convey a meaning, which granted sometimes can get lost in translation, but nonetheless they are a fundamental part of a song for me. Language has hidden messages, double meanings and the words we use and when are works of art in of themselves. Saying la la la is disrespecting that art.

Unless this is a complete piss-take, in which case bravo 10/10.

You’re not ready for Chakras. They are visionaries who knows that spoken language will be outdated in future 😛

When we heard the lyrics on some eurovision songs it’s better just haviing La-Ley-La. Was Norway 1995 also disrespectful to lyricists ?

This song is very spiritual and should be experienced with the senses not with your mind and brain just like meditation and thats why its without lyrics. . Do you need lyrics on paintings and art? Theres movies also without dialogue.

It’s cray cray but… their best option? For good or for bad, it’s a stand out amongst all the generic “Like it” alike

Probably the only song that could give them a fighting shot at the final, I will readily admit that as someone who’s vocally disliked this selection. Zena could pull it off. Why couldn’t they?

maybe imaginary? like 2003 belgium

Polegend Godgarina

that’s the correct choice! what i love about songs in an imaginary language is that u can give em any meaning u wish. for example chakras might be singing bout the islamization of the arab peninsula, and nobody can tell me otherwise !

I see your point. But then again, doesn’t that mean that they have absolutely no actual meaning in the first place? Now, I’d support singing in imaginary language such as Hobbitish, Klingon or Huttese, with actual (although imaginary) meaning and grammar. That would take an effort.
I’m not saying anyone else would do better for Belarus this year. By all means, pick Chakras. It’s three minutes of la la la, but at least someone can say it’s different.

The problem w/ Chakras is not the lack of lyrics. It’s how they sound together – which is very disjointed. The harmonies are not that great and that’s why at times it seems that the singers are each doing vocal exercises instead of singing together.

Yes please <3 I know there are no real lyrics but I felt this song from the first moment. The fact that they are even better live says it all for me.
