Believe it or not, we’re already on to day four of rehearsals. On Tuesday, the final eight semi-finalists will have their first rehearsals on the Eurovision 2024 stage. They’re the acts competing in the second half of the second semi-final.
They’ll have 30 minutes to test out the stage to see how their graphics and camera angles are coming together. It will also allow them to start working out their jitters as they fill the arena with their voices for the very first time.
Throughout the day the EBU will release photos and short TikTok snippets. We’ll try to update this post as things drop. Regardless, please share your thoughts in the comments section throughout the day!

Eurovision 2024 rehearsals | Day 4
9. 🇱🇻 Latvia: Dons – “Hollow”
@eurovision On his first rehearsal for Latvia, @Dons delivers a vocal that is set to silence Malmö Arena 🇱🇻 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Dons is taking his song title to heart by bringing a giant hollow circle prop with him. The Latvian singer begins the performance inside it as the LED behind has red and pink hues. Then during the chorus, the multitude of lights on the ceiling get to work. Dons has upgraded his standard blue outfit by adding a chest plate with defined muscles on it.

10. 🇸🇲 San Marino: MEGARA – “11:11”
@eurovision Punk, pyro and a hell of a lot of pink! @MEGARA have touched down in Malmö 🇸🇲 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Naturally, the main colour theme for MEGARA’s performance is pink and black. The band all have varying outfits in these colours, with vocalist Kenzy’s costume including spikes that run down her spine. They’re accompanied by two dancers who are initially dressed up a fluffy rabbits in fur coats and masks — these are then removed to reveal skeleton costumes with fluffy boots. The LED screen showcases some cartoon graphics, and it’s all topped off with plenty of pyro.

11. 🇬🇪 Georgia: Nutsa Buzaladze – “Firefighter”
@eurovision A piping-hot performance, but nothing our resident Firefighter @Nutsabuza can’t handle 🇬🇪 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Wearing an amber-coloured outfit with matching gloves, Nutsa lights up the stage like the embers of a fire. The Georgian star begins the performance on a circular platform with an explosion on the LED screen behind her. She’s later joined by four backing dancers in black attire who lift her at various points. There’s plenty of actual fire in the performance as well, with the pyro doing overtime in the dance break. It all ends with Nutsa back on her podium, which raises her up for a grand conclusion.

12. 🇧🇪 Belgium: Mustii – “Before the Party’s Over”
@eurovision Belgium has had its first rehearsal and it’s a multiple mic-drop from @Mustii 🇧🇪 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Those who were fans of Mustti’s music video for “Before the Party’s Over” will be pleased to know that he’s brought the circle of microphones with him to Eurovision — and this one even spins around whilst Mustii sings in the middle. The Belgian singer later steps out from it and comes to the front of the stage for the crescendo to the final moments of the song. Fashion wise, Mustii has opted for a sparkly see-though top in combination with white trousers and shirt.

13. 🇪🇪 Estonia: 5MIINUST x Puuluup – “(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi”
@eurovision UuuuyEEEE! The @5MIINUST x @Puuluup party has arrived at first rehearsals in Malmö 🇪🇪 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Most performers don’t stray away from the confines of the stage. But 5MIINUST x Puuluup have decided to begin their Eurovision performance off stage by the crowd — no doubt ensuring the three minutes has an infectious energy right from the start. The rest of the rehearsal also looks very similar to their antics from Eesti Laul, with the iconic dance move still in place.

14. 🇮🇱 Israel: Eden Golan – “Hurricane”
@eurovision @EDEN GOLAN has had her very first run-through of Hurricane as rehearsals continue in Malmö 🇮🇱 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Eden performs in an off-white dress with five backing dancers. They start inside a ring that has additional lights around the edge, then move forward onto the main stage. The dancers perform a contemporary routine around and with Eden, holding her and interacting with her dress at points.

15. 🇳🇴 Norway: Gåte – “Ulveham”
@eurovision Fireflies, guitar throwing, a spinning rock platform… Malmö is living for @GÅTE dark woodscape 🇳🇴 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
As many expected, Gåte have brought very similar staging from their Melodi Grand Prix performance. There are some slight enhancements: the main one being that Gunnhild’s rotating podium is now slightly larger. The LEDs in the background show various nature graphics of tree stumps and waves — we’ll have to wait for the camera cuts to see if they still have the on-screen graphics as well. Overall, it’s still looking just as powerful as it was when they won the national final.

16. 🇳🇱 Netherlands: Joost Klein – “Europapa”
@eurovision Welkom in Europa! @joost is bringing it all together in rehearsals 🇳🇱 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
After much speculation, and some big teasing, we finally have a glimpse of Joost Klein’s staging. He’s wearing his trademark blue suit with giant shoulders, but the rest is probably not what anyone expected. The Dutch star is joined on stage by a big blue bird at a keyboard and two backing dancers in white tracksuits. The LEDs showcase a variety of graphics — the world, tourist destinations in Europe, local delicacies and a “missing graphics” display. It’s definitely adding even more quirky aspects to the already fun song.

At this point after watching all these vidoes I will honestly vote for any contestant who doesn’t use the words ‘super excited’ to describe their feelings before going on stage
* Israel – I really like the song and performance, it’s haunting, but it will be NQ because public will punish it due to the context.
* Belgium – Doesn’t appear to be enough going on, afraid it will NQ
* Estonia also a risk of NQ – if not for Europapa, it would probably get the quirky vote, but those voters will prefer Joost.
Super excited for Israel. I said I would vote 20 times for Israel if Eden Golan’s vocals were on point. It sounds even better LIVE! This is a winner to me. I will vote 20 times in semi 2 and iin the final for Eden!
Israel bots out in force as always. Why does your country care about internet points and not about human beings lives?
We are humans, I know it’s hard to believe. Israelis have life, brains and souls too. It’s clear that you, Wiwi and all the other haters are out of your mind to delegitimize our existence, but here we are, same old Jews, smart, proud and unapologetic. We will defend our country, our freedom and we will compete in the ESC whether you like it or not.
what a silly remark!
I just hope that the stupidity called Europapa NQs.
Because if it does, it will be slap in ESC’s face.
never, its a 100% sure qualifier. Europe needs some fun after all thats going on right now, time for something that puts a smile upon people’s faces
NL puts “ewww, no” on my face
It’s not only a qualifier, but also might be the overall winner. It depends on the jury vote.
With the wonderful exception that is Norway… What an insuffereble group!
My ears are bleeding from this Musti guy (tho not nearly as much as from the cracked code)… And Eden’s eyebrows and Joost’s suit will be haunting me for nights and nights.
Israel have exceeded my imagination. Eden looks serene and dignified, understatedly majestic and carrying the feelings and expectations of an entire nation and beyond.
The beautiful and minimalistic colour palette with light and gold as a symbol for hope. That perfect, amazing voice. The wheel shape made by Eden looks amazing!! The choreo reminds of the music video concept, hopefully the show will carry more incredibly thoughtful and meaningful elements. It’s beyond gorgeousness and perfection!! <3 <3 <3
< 3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Such a trash cheap on sentiment song of Israel.
Shouldnt qualify imo. Latvia is much better .
Is this a joke?
It’s an Israeli bot- their government have been spending millions for the past 20 years trying to boost Israel’s image abroad on social media- they algorithms don’t understand how fake their comments look to human eyes. It’s pathetic.
Sounds perfect for a toilet break on the night
Looks very beautiful. And the dancers too. I loved those dancers in the video. Unique.
The staging is different from the video, but the same atmosphere and sense of connection.
Love it from these few snippets.
Most of the clips were about 1 minute 26 or 27, the one from Joost is just 41 seconds…so he is going to give us much more to impress?
Yes, that must be the case. In my view, it’s too much drama. I know they want to build suspense and anticipation but usually it all comes down to disappointment in the end.
Sorry but, there was so much discussion how this is not a joke entry, and then he brings on stage…. a chicken?
Top 3 rehearsals today:
1.Georgia
2.Israel
3.Norway
Israel looks and sounds fantastic!
trash song
we know you hate israel…. so, nobody believes to what you say….
I cannot believe tomorrow kicks in the second rehearsals! :<
So, Joost’s snippet is out. From what I see, it’s fine! But I need to see the whole on-screen performance to judge. I also feel that it will be a bit flat just him and the two dancers (should that be the case) on the stage with giant visuals behind them. The chicken DJ could have been avoided. I can’t rule Europapa out yet. I also noticed that they cleverly did not show much of the show in the snippet. Let’s wait and see if the final outcome is over the top or not. The song is still a banger!… Read more »
Heel veel dank.
The royal blue big shoulderparts are holding up some extra’s voor the 2nd round.
Its now or never!!
Because he seems like such a nice guy, I hope his performance goes how he immagined. I expected he would interact more with the audience, running from one side to the other, though.
I wish him all the best.
Cringe and tacky. Perfect.
The level of cringe and the second hand embarrassment I felt while watching Dutch act… I can’t… I need to lookup for the word in a dictionary describing that level of terrible…
Delusion is the most common word that people would ascribe to that.
HAKKUH, and there’s NO to morrow!!
Netherlands clip is out, Joost actually sounds really quite good. Which was my biggest worry. Those 3 minutes are gonna be such a party!
Sounds quite awful, the guy can’t sing in tune at all.
How to put the lyrics of Norways «Ulveham» into relevant social context: The song is about being invaded on a personal level by a familiar force, and resistance. The maiden is being cursed by her jealous stepmother (who is the witch in this story) and to liberate yourself from this invasion you have to fight back even though there will be blood spilled. Which of the events going on in Europe does this sound familiar? Gåte have themselves said that the «screaming» (other peoples use of word) is actually a CALLING, a calling for liberation and freedom. I definitely specifically… Read more »
Don’t speak for Ukraine, please!
And Gunnchild and Norway should not speak for Ukraine.
We speak for ourselves. With our own songs.
I am from Ukraine, and the energies of Norway’s Ulveham wolf are completely the opposite energies.
This comes off as quite rude.
Netherlands clip is out and it so fun. This could win the televote but will be killed by the juries
Support for Norway feels genuine and from a neutral source which is refreshing
Eurovision is a song contest. Slamming Kaleen for her vocals is irrelevant. Glad the juries are out.
Why don’t we just have one single singer sing every entry then?
Why don’t we indeed?
Why don’t we just have one single singer sing every entry then? The vocal is an instrument and part of the arrangement of a song, just like bass and strings. Choosing the wrong vocal is bad composition.
Yeah of course. And while we’re at it we also should stop to do live performances. We should just put the 37 videoclips on tv like a basic music TV chain.
That’s how the TV and radio charts work.
I like Nutsa. Strong voice. Strong woman. Strong song. Looks good.
I love Hurricane. Painful, delicate and hopeful. I understand all the feelings in the song. thrown from one emotion to the other. Looks beautiful. The dancers too.
Latvia, I like it, good. Nice guy.
Belgium, not so.
San marino, not my style.
Norway, loud voice, creepy lyrics. No connection with these themes.
Joost. The chicken could be a nice rehearsal troll and I am waiting for the surprise ending with his parents.
We are waiting for the last act of 2day, the snippet of Joost’s his show.
They are holding back as he said you dont film all the tricks of the magician.
So they dont expose all. Very clever marketing.
Lets go, lets Goooo Joost.
Its now or never.
It’s too late; it is obvious that Netherlands’ song with that silly staging can’t win; can’t even be in top5.
Dont worry.
We will see. Real Gabbers are partying untill they die.
Joost is the real we will Rave.
Open the Mosh pitt!! the biggest One EVER.
Its never too late. lets go , lets Gooooo!!
Now or never!!
what a trash song! pathetic!
and you talk about israel’s masterpiece!
Norway… Wow, this is perfect. Queen of wolves. Love drom Greece.
*from
I saw a snippet of Norway perfomance and…………………………………………………………………………………………………………….my jaw dropped.
IT. MUST. WIN.
GÄTE. MUST. WIN.
FROM ITALY
Both Italy and Norway’s songs are very good this year.
Wooow Norway is amazing
Norway’s snippet has just been released. It’s epic. Not sure I feel like this because I like the song or because it’s genuinely that good. She sings beautifully, the staging is epic, the whole performance is mesmerising, I can’t get my eyes off the screen. Held og lykke, Norge!
Everything is more expensive in this inflagionary world; so don’t wanted your money for voting for Netherlands’ childish and trash song 🙂
Here’s some analysis beyond the superficial. Not sure what you wrote here though, but it felt like a lot of hate. Keep it nice! So far I’m disappointed with your selection. You need to dig deeper. Watch this, and you’ll see the “joke” https://youtu.be/jeW40z6_L2Q?si=zf1Irbo4nBJaaSRF
Michael aka Stephan aka Thomas etc. maybe you should use one name rather than embarrassing yourself constantly.
The fourth day of the ESC 1st rehearsals have gathered the most comments up to now on this blog.
I’m curious why, *looks at comment section*, yup Netherlands is winning.
how can he win with 0 jury votes?
Do you know the jury results already……..?
hahahaha, Box Bro!!!
They feel the hot blue shoulderparts of Joost in their necks!!
Where’s his shout-out to the bookmakers now?? Huh? Huh? Not looking so clever anymore
You seem very hyped about Europapa, guess Joosts strategy is working huh?
he’ll literally gain 0 jury votes and not as much televote as you think, he’s only funny to children and dutch people, general public doesn’t give a crap
You are obsesssed about Europapa.. aren’t you? You cannot stop talking about it for days now…
I feel like Eurovision is slowly turning into an idiocracy…
Unfortunately yes :/
Eurovision was never serious… yall need to touch some grass.
During the 00’s there were a lot of joke acts in the contest and everyone was laughing at it (not in a good way) and considering the contest as a joke itself. Jon Ola Sand made a great work and the contest became really interesting from mid 10’s until now. Crazy to see how quickly humans can go back to bad habits. Joke acts were and will never be good. 1-2 per edition is enjoyable, not 5 or more. And the worst is that people are actually supporting that. When I see more people supporting Finland than countries with actual… Read more »
Im not saying that Eurovision not being serious means that its a joke. But anything outside of a basic ballad format is apparently a joke entry to some folks here.
cha cha cha was really a disaster entry that marked again an era of joke entries..joost klein is also in the same direction. I m sick of pretentious superficial hipster eurofans ”baptizing” everything kitsch as forward thinking
Georgia does sound and look good, I have to say. It may qualify. Other than that, the song is OK and a bit loud with many instruments and sounds (to my ears). I wish them good luck and to qualify after all these years!
From the rest of the songs (before NL and NO came out), I found Eden Golan’s performance and staging very good; I also like the chores.
Belgium keeps disappointing a bit. The song is very good, but Mustii seems to struggle in general; I don’t know why. He looks as if he struggles to sing or he overperforms. A balance is needed.
Estonia and San Marino are a big no for me; I am sorry.
Latvia’s Dons is doing well, but the song can’t qualify without the juries.
I finally got it, Joost reminds me of young Martina Navratilova. And don’t get my wrong, i like Martina . She rocks
I think Dutch television should choose this song with that staging for Junior Eurovision, might have been better choice.
Other than this; the song and staging are just trash.
They arent showing the whole thing yet!!
he is holding the surprises hidden behind his blue pointy shoulderparts.
I wonder whether many of the fans will turn their back to the Israeli performance…
People forgetting that ESC’s audience are families? Joost understood the assignment.
Not for infants
Call me biased but I still love Estonia’s entry and staging as the best of the year. It just fits the vibe. Some pyro at the last “ey!” chants would make this pure perfection.
I think it’s just one more joke act. We have seen it before: a group of mature guys dancing and not taking themselves too seriously. Been there, done that. Now it’s more of the same.
this is the kind of music they make outside of eurovision too, its not a joke act, just cause you dont understand it, doesnt mean its a joke
You are part of the category of people that would rather see a grown man dressed as a little girl, just to be something “new” so can’t take your opinion seriously
I really didn’t like Netherlands’ staging; the song is funny but that staging makes this song childish and silly 🙁
Dutch team even were saying that they have a staging never seen before. Yes; I never saw such a silly stage
you haven’t seen everything yet of our staging, some surprises still to come!
Sorry but I don’t want to see any surprises; any additional thing will make this song more trash 🙁
So what if there will be some surprises – the blue chicken already gave us a clew of what to expect. It was a fun song, now with those outfits they only stuck a finger in the face of Eurovision. Sorry for the drama, but it’s true. What do they gain from this?
He can troll with the rehearsals and come up with something surprising in May. You dont have to show everything during rehearsals, I think.
Or does the Ebu have a rule for that, that everything has to be exactly as during the rehearsal?
The chicken could be a rehearsal troll.
And we didn’t see a shot of the last seconds, like we see with all the other songs.
No, the chicken can’t be a troll on social media if that is what you are trying to say. It’s a TV show that follows the production needs. They demand that the artists use the final outfit.
I believe Tali from Luxembourg also didnt wear her final outfit on the 1rst rehearsal.
So in the 2nd rehearsal they have to wear the final outfit, and show everything. No surprises and chances possible after that?
Yep, Its now or never!!!
It’s all a bluff. Joost is a crazy character and I understand him. That won’t be in at all most of it
It takes one knowing One!!!
Bambie brought all her candles, Joost his box of Gabber vibes.
SEMI 2 ranking: 1:Bel 2:Swi 3:Arm 4:Latvia 5:San Mar 6:Gre 7:Est 8: Alb 9:Den 10:Geo 11:Austria 12:Malta 13:Cze 14:Ndl II Greetings from Norway
*based on photos
And Israel ???
my qualifier prediction for SF2 now we’ve seen all stagings of this semi too
Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland, Estonia, Greece, Armenia, Israel, Austria, Malta, and i like to remain optimistic and also say San Marino as a surprise qualifier
To everyone being dissapointed on Netherlands, a friendly reminder that in Amsterdam, he showed a visual on his pre-party performance saying “these are not my visuals come back and see my show on may 9”.
To be completely honest, I fully expect this man to pull such a bizzare surprise directly on semi-final 2 and at the moment, he’s simply taking the piss out of us, haha.
Yup, you’re on it. He expressed to Dutch media his discontent with how they are sharing the rehearsals. He doesn’t want to reveal anything.
He MUST try out his led options DURING his rehearsals, clothes options DURING his rehearsals, and choreography DURING his rehearsals. He can’t just appear with a totaly different concept on May 9th
Who says he won’t do that in the 2nd rehearsals? I thought artists have full flexibility to change some things they want until the show, hm?
Not until the show. Just the first rehearsals.
The keyboard player just had to rehearse the location on the stage. Thats it.
May 9 he will wear whatever he wants, I think.
Also the images on the screen you can change at the last moment. No need for rehearsing that.
And we saw the last shot of all songs, but we didn’t see the last shot of Joost. Will be a surprise.
Every additional change will make this song more childish.
Boohhooo woooo
run to your Mummy dear child if you are hurted so muck bc of this.
Why do you have to act as a child when someone expresses their opinion of a song? I am so not going to vote for the Netherlands this time, and many won’t vote either just because of people like you. Joost would be so thankful to you for cutring off his points.
if every country has shown a snippet of their performance, why would NL get special treatment and hide their surprise for the show… how is that fair to other participants?
Thats true.
It’s not among my favourite songs, not even in top 10, but I feel Norway will takes it all and I’ll be satisfied somehow.
Since Israel and Latvia have similar stages, I just hope Israel will not completely eat Latvia’s chances for final. Both songs are my 5th and 6th favourites.
Still rooting for my very favourite Mustii though.
The rest of today’s group don’t grab me. I’ll be just happy to see Georgia in the final.
Norway’s band looks so professional, serious, and real musicians compared to most other acts. They even outshine some of the other acts because they are that good. This will be top 3 in the semi. Good job, Norway.
Yep. Agree.
Netherlands is falling down the odds like a rock, ouch
Nope, it’s not.
Maybe that chicken should have been pink
It’s between a blue bird from Netherlands, pink chicken from Switzerland and a hairy ass from Finland. And there are others
Haha!
Hahahahhahahahhaha, thank you for the laughs
And i like hairy ass, but that’s just personal preference lol
Oh me too!
We could make great friends in real life 🙂 but just friends bcs we like same things lol
😉
I’m just sad for my man Dons, his staging was completely overshadowed by everyone else’s today. Israel as well, nothing really special on stage, the prop is really similar to Latvia’s. Belgium is reusing the videoclip concept which I think it works. San Marino and Megara was the greatest surprise today, their visuals look EXCEPTIONAL. Estonia, as expected, polished their National Final stagin, which I already loved before. Unlike most in here it seems, I’m enjoying Joost’s staging a lot and I have a great feeling he’s trying to troll us. Definitely televote winner-worthy, in my opinion. The most fun… Read more »
Also, EVERYONE SANG GREAT! Definitely a fantastic year for vocals!
You are so generous, thank you from Estonia ?
Joost has gone full Guildo Horn 1998.
With a bit of Portion Boys UMK 2023 thrown in
All jokes aside, Norway will win jury vote. I mean, look at that performance. One word, EPIC
No doubt, their performance is so amazing!
Tomorrow morning Norway will be top 5 in the odds. Everything pales from today’s rehearsal compared to them. And i thought Keiino was robbed. I was wrong. Very good choice Norge , bravo
There won’t be much movements in the odds before they rehearse for the 2nd time. And even though their song is good, ai don’t see Norway making to the top 5 but I could be wrong. I would be very happy for them if they manage to pull it.
Where are these Dutch pictures even???
Croatia OR Italy will win…
Shoul be Israel but some Juries are not going to be PROFESSIONAL.
This is not Eurovision POLITICAL contest.
The politics are important. It’s important to make sure that a show about pleasure and joy isn’t used by regimes who want to present a false face to a billion viewers. That’s why we threw out Russia and Belarus. But even with all of that to one side, there’s no universe in which Israel’s song is at the same level as many of the other songs this year. It’s a manufactured ballad of the type the UK used to give to X Factor winners TWENTY years ago. There’s nothing new or engaging there.
I think none of the juries will award Israel 8-12 points, just to avoid saying Israel. Maybe just 1-7 points which are on screen.
eyal, don’t be sure!
Croatia and Italy? Maybe, they do have a chance and it’s legit. Israel? No way of entering top 3 yet winning lol Israeli song is mediocre at best. Eden vocal is good, but nothing wow, nor she Is the best vocalist this year (at least 10 of other artists are vocaly way ahead of her). Either way, may the best win, whoever that is.
So if NL’s staging is legit, or hiding bits until semi or trolling it’s cringe either way. Even trolling can be done better than this.
That’s why all talk about it. Keep loving the pink chicken hahaha
They both suck
The Netherlands is simply bad taste. But I read a comment that kids will probobly like it. I think so to. If they stay awake.
Netherlands: very good fun staging, not sure if it’s a winner staging but yeah i like it
And after that, Angelina can win the Eurovision. If she has a decent outfit and a decent performance. Italy has high chances! 1. Norway is like Melodi Grand Prix, top 10 for sure 2. Netherlands, I knew that he is going to be a funny entry (but its not an ugly entry) 3. Belgium was very decent. He will qualify of course. 4. Israel. The girl can sing. She has probably the best voice this year, clear-strong. If this song was last year, then it would have been easily in top 10. 5. The best and the most decent performance… Read more »
I agree…
Life is not fair
I agree fully. I think Angelina is in a very strong position after today.
Pink Flamingos and Blue Chickens put paid to the idea that CH and NL are not novelty acts.
Norway looked pure class.
wonder who designed the blue chicken costume, maybe some of the same designer for our masked singer version?
I think that it will be between Angelina and Baby Lasagna as it was from the start. We made a full circle , and now we are back to square one lol
I agree; I prefer voting for Italy; rather than Switzerland and Netherlands
Lol I think Joost is trolling us.
