It’s been a busy week for Conchita Wurst. First she wins Eurovision, then a butcher names a sausage in her honour, politicians in Russia call for a “straight Eurovision”, and Conchita finds herself plastered on the front of tabloids and newspapers worldwide. Well the attention is only ramping up. Tonight Miss Wurst appeared on “The Graham Norton Show” alongside celebrities Kirsten Dunst, Bear Grylls and Dawn French. Here’s what went down…

On her glass Eurovision trophy: “I know it’s a bit embarrassing. But I carried it all the way [from Austria].”

On the now famous tweet from Cher: “She tweeted, ‘Dahling, you deserve a lovely name and a better wig.’ My hair stylist was quite pissed. Because I thought my hair was quite nice.”

On what was waiting for her backstage at the Graham Norton Show: “I got flowers in my dressing room and the card said Elton and David.”

On her beard: “You only get one life and you better make it fabulous. That’s my own truth.”

On the character of Conchita Wurst: “I’m a member of the gay community and being this gay teenager in this small village wasn’t fun…I tried to fit in. I changed myself. I wanted to be part of the game. Then I realized, I create the game.”

Does she have a plan for the future? “No. I don’t. But you know what, our society is so fast and everything is so quick so we really try to sit back and look and watch and choose wisely.”

Does she have any songs for an album? “I have to make new stuff. Yes, there are some songs, but my goal is a Grammy…so these songs should better be good.”

To be honest I was a bit disappointed by the programme. They’d obviously crammed her in at the last moment and she wasn’t given the status of the other guests. Worst, she did not get to sing. The single might otherwise have stayed in the top 20.

I hope she doesn’t over-expose herself and does her best to not allow Conchita to remain believable. If she’s giving apartment tours with her black bra I think it degrades her a little bit.

Better she do what the greatest celebrities have done. Model yourself on Streisand, not Boy George. Limit access to the media and use it to share your message, not promote your celebritihood. Avoid schlock TV and reality shows. Ensure that interviews are not about her lifestyle, but her beliefs (unless she does Kumars at No.42)

“If I was her manager then I’d have an album in the pipeline before”. Well, that’s easy to say. But I guess it’s not that easy nowadays to just put an album together, just in case… I mean, do you guys realize that Conchita Wurst actually didn’t have a record deal before going to Eurovision? She’s only had two singles out but wasn’t signed to a label, it’s now, just after the victory at ESC that big names like Sony want to work with her on a professional level (at least that’s what I’ve read recently in the press). Let… Read more »

I really like the way she speaks. She is a good role model for her community.
And for the Grammies, why not? It’s been a long time since Eurovision created a world wide star. As Graham Norton said, they don’t care about Eurovision in America, but Conchita was an exception.
BTW, did you guys see how they censored Conchita’s face in China? This is insane.

I do think that artists shoul have a plan. I do feel it’s a bit of a one act wonder. If I was her manager then if have an album in the pipeline before – like the common limments. It’s artists like Lena, emmilie de forest and Loreen who really deserve the trophy.

I love rise like a phonix but want to feel it’s not just a gimmick but someone’s musical carear. Expect the album next May?

@Fatima, yes I forgot about Celine. But I have the impression that Celine’s career doesn’t owe that much to ESC, and she had to start all over again in Canada / US, two countries where ESC doesn’t matter at all.

Wergie, you are totally wrong and you know it. So I don’t get your point I guess. Of course Conchita won ALTHOUGH she has beard, and definitely NOT because of it. And of course you didn’t geht Conchita’s point concerning the Grammy. She is aware she probably won’t win it. But she says, one needs to have big goals; even if she doesn’t get a Grammy she is sure to achieve other impressive things by just trying her best. But go on, if you want to hate her because of the beard, you guys won’t ever get her point. She… Read more »

Grammy)) No way, dahling, you will be forgotten soon, no doubts about that, so enjoy this year and prepare yourself for the next. If not that beard, he’d never win the ESC even though he was confident, artistic and he actually sung nicely. Yes, he can sing and he has voice.., uhm with no aesthetic value. It sounds vulgar and simply.. gay 🙁

Well I think this could be the first year since ABBA that ESC has actualy produced an enduring artist. But of course I could be wrong. Time will tell.

Looking forward to download the entire show. She shines in that clip.

IF she shall do an album it must come soon otherwise she’s soon forgiven for other stars I honestly think
