This morning Serbia’s RTS had us smiling early—at 7:30 CET to be precise—when it revealed its JESC 2014 act Emilija Djonin and her song “Svet U Mojim Ocima” (World In My Eyes). It’s a piano ballad that let’s Emilija show off her stunning vocals. This is one sophisticated teenager!

Taking a cue from Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Maya Sar, Emilja has said she will spend half of the time on stage playing a piano, and then she will stand for the rest of the song.

After skipping the contest in 2011, 2012 and 2013, Serbia has decided to return with an experienced singer. Emilija is no stranger to televised competition. She finished as Runner-Up on the Serbia TV talent show “I’ve Got Talent”.

In 2011, Serbia’s 24 Sata described her as a “real soul diva”.

What do you think of her JESC song?

possible win due to block voting (Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bulgaria), minor votes from soviet block (Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Russia and Ukraine) and since it is not bad-bad song, it could receive some points from Sweden and The Netherlands. And we could have JESC in Serbia.
Currently my favourites are San Marino and Serbia. I don’t like Maltese song for this year. The Start was way better.

4) Sweden – 9/10
5) Russia – 9/10

Well sung, a great voice, decent music, but I think that’s it. For a first listen, it lacks a wow factor. But this is my opinion now. I had the same opinion when I first heard Maya Sar’s “Korake Ti Znam” and it is now my 3rd favorite in 2012 and my 6th favorite in the last 5 years. Here is my consistently changing current top:
1. Georgia: 9.4/10
2. Cyprus: 9.2/10
3. Russia: 8.8/10
4. Belarus: 8.6/10
5. Sweden: 8.1/10
6. The Netherlands: 7.8/10
7. Serbia: 7.7/10
8. San Marino: 7.1/10
9. Armenia: 6.8/10
10. Ukraine: 6.6/10
