On Friday, and for the first time ever, producers of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest allowed viewers from all over the world to vote in the contest.
The much-discussed “online voting” segment opened at 18:00 CET and allows anyone to vote for up to five of their favourites after watching a short re-cap video of all the rehearsal performances. Then, if they want to, they can watch one-minute clips of each participant’s rehearsal.
The first phase of voting closes on Sunday at 15:59 CET — precisely one minute before the live broadcast of the show. It’ll then re-open after the last performance and everyone will have the opportunity to vote again.
Writing in the comments section of our jury preview, readers are already sounding off on who they supported. But we want to take the forecasting and predicting further. In our poll below please let us know which countries you actually did vote for.
We’re curious to see how this compares with our Junior Eurovision 2017 poll, which we opened a few weeks before rehearsals (and which Belarus’ Helena Meraai won with 29% of the vote).
This newer poll — which comes after the rehearsals and reflects real-life voting patterns — may give us a better indicator of where things stand.

I was very reluctant as I like all songs and the kids are amazing. There are 16 winners here. However, I decided to vote my top 3: 1. Malta – The song is so catchy and energetic. I hum it a lot. Gianluca is a born showman. This is exactly the kind of song that should win JESC. 2. Russia – While I usually prefer kids singing more innocent and youthful songs, there is no denying quality of this one. It’s beautiful and meaningful. 3. Serbia – They are so cute and positive. This song is such a throwback and… Read more »
NETHERLANDSSS
I vote for holland and belarus and russia
I voted for Russia, Belarus, Malta, Georgia and Ireland. Ireland is my ultimate fave! Pure class.
I enjoy most of the songs this year, but I actively voted for the countries that wouldn’t get many diaspora votes *cough Poland, Russia, Armenia*
I voted for: Ireland, Australia, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine
vote.junioreurovision.tv <—- STEM OP FOURCE / NEDERLAND
VOTE FOR FOURCE / THE NETHERLANDS
georgia <3 grigol the best singer <3 hi is winner )))
Ok, people complaining about this poll and how it’s unrealistic, unfair, etc…it’s an online poll of a very limited amount of people, so don’t get your tail in a knot over it. It’s hardly scientific or even realistic, since it doesn’t account for jury voting. It’s just an idea of what blog readers like in a certain time period. Do you really think Portugal will win the online vote as the poll here shows? Unlikely. Let’s all relax, eh!
My votes:
1. Russia
2. Belarus
3. Italy
4. Australia
5. Poland
Why do you say Armenia will win because its diaspora? I mean, seriously? I am pretty sure if your fav was on the top of that poll you wouldn’t be complaining about the voting system. Let me tell you, I did vote for Armenia and, hey I am Irish! Such a shame to see people using the same arguments as the ESC haters..
Are you denying that diaspora voting exists? That’s not an argument by ESC haters, it’s a fact.
Because its the country with the largest diaspora community in other countries. If all of them can vote for their own country. Dont you think Armenia wins then? Its Mathematically impossible not to win:). I dont complain. Im just worried the smallest countries will come last. Vote for your own country are not a great idea. I love ESC, so im not a hater
How many Armenians watch ESC and JESC live? Out of those, how many would vote+
Well, it’s a fact that at the ESC certain countries (like Armenia) always gets extra points (diaspora votes), but because of the fact that there are a lot of countries participating at the ESC the diaspora support doesn’t always give Armenia the good result. But it’s another story with JESC, because we have less countries here and most of them are eastern countries which gives Armenia extra advantage to do well. So its not an ESC hatred at all, but mostly criticism for JESC and its new rules which favors diaspora voting. There are very few people who has Armenia… Read more »
Portugal is leading now by 200 points over Armenia in this poll.
Those who hate the new voting system voting have to deal with it. I’m pretty sure millions of people will watch the contest online tomorrow. 🙂
We know that you love only Armenia already so you love that the armenians vote for their own country. Its kind of clear with about 500% with all your comments about Micha. We get it. You love diaspora voting.
My votes were: Armenia, Malta, Australia, Netherlands and Italy.
So glad you voted for Armenia. Hopefully Misha’s voice REALLY soars tomorrow! 😀
It would be so funny if Portugal wins because of people purposely voting for non-favorites to help their favorite win
Are EBU stupid? Dont they remember that in adult Eurovision Armenia always came on top when it was only televoting. I hate this voting. Armenia is going to win. So sad….
Cough Artsvik Cough
It was not 100% televoting 2017:). I meant when it was only 100% televoting. 2006-2008. Look at Armenias results those years in the televote.
Ohhh.. Not again, armenians. Stop cheating for the love of God! I am so over it srsly wtf
My favourites are Ireland, Serbia, Portugal, Ukraine and Georgia.
I voted for: Albania, Armenia, Cyprus, Malta, and Serbia (I really wish I could have voted for Russia, Ukraine, and The Netherlands as well!). I’m personally rooting for any of these 8 countries, but especially Albania! On a side note, I am from South Africa and never thought I would ever be able to say “I voted at a (Junior) Eurovision Song Contest”. But today I can say that! My vote will probably be an insignificant and miniscule value, given the large number of votes from all over the globe, but I am so greatful to have been a part… Read more »
I voted for
Belarus ?? (My cousin ??)
Cyprus ?? (Fun, energetic song)
FYR Macedonia ?? (Current, like here in the USA)
Italy ?? ( I like it, but she seems nervous)
Ukraine ?? (She is going to get so underrated)
This is just my opinion though
As we can see from this poll’s results Armenia definitely doesn’t need anyone’s votes. They can vote for themselves and that will be enough to make them come on the top of the scoreboard. Well done. *slow claps*
Wait, what did I miss with Portugal?
I voted for Australia, Netherlands and Georgia.
Voted Malta, Cyprus, Georgia, Serbia and the Netherlands. Had to miss out FYR Macedonia, Australia and Portugal unfortunately.
I can’t vote somehow? …
I voted for FYROM, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. I wanted to vote for Malta and Serbia as well, but the maximum was 5. About the voting process, I had already imagined it some years ago for the ESC and I was excited when they announced it for this year’s JESC, however there are two things that bother me: -They allow you to vote for your country; I mean, I usually don’t like my country’s entries, but I really love it this year. Anyway, even if I could, I didn’t vote for it, it doesn not seem fair to me.… Read more »
It may seem a bit strange, but I voted for the following countries))
Armenia
Netherlands
Portugal
Australia
Malta
Voted for Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Australia and Serbia.
Not a big fan of this votingprocess. Sounds unfair to me. Anyway, Really hope Russia, Portugal or Australia will win. Awesome songs. Portugal is a BIG dark horse imo. It’s a fun song, catchy, background is fun as well, and she can actually sing. Australia has a fun song as well. And Russia.. Well, she could have won a normal ESC with that.
I voted for Italy (my own country, but I swear I really like the song), Portugal (too sweet, I love her and her song), Ireland (it’s different from a lot of other songs and it’s memorable) and Russia (what a voice, I had chills listening to her).
Kinda Dumb and rigged voting system. Basically Diaspora contest. As a result I voted not just to countries whom I think should win, but also, strategically to countries who would be unrightfully underrated as a result to this voting system.
And thank God for the juries.
Voters voting for their own will still have to vote for at least two other countries’ entries, that would negate some of the influence brought by self-voting.
Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Malta
lol. Armenia wins the poll while only few people mentioned its name as their favourites. I am sure they will hijack the real contest’s poll too. Before introducing the online voting EBU had to thought about that it would be impossible to keep it fair since we have nations like armenians on it. What a failure…
Anyways, I voted for Ireland, Macedonia, Belarus, Ukraine and Georgia.
Armenia is my winner ??
Ronda, I like your choices. Belarus, Ukraine and Georgia were in my top five as well. The other two I had were after rehearsals were Malta and Australia.
I vote for the netherlands because that somg is a really eurovision song
Poll + My Opinion Results
(Ranked all performances and added the poll results)
1 Australia 15 pts
2 Ireland 15 pts
3 Belarus 14 pts
4 Malta 14 pts
5 Armenia 11 pts
6 Russia 11 pts
7 Poland 10 pts
8 Albania 6 pts
9 The Netherlands 5 pts
10 Cyprus 3 pts
11 Georgia 1 pt
12 Portugal 1 pt
13 Ukraine -1 pts
14 FYR Macedonia -3 pts
15 Italy -8 pts
16 Serbia -8pts
Next year they should consider one registration per device and limit to voting. The statistics they will receive this time around are absolutely worthless. Who in his right mind bother voting 20-30 times just because he can?
I voted once for Malta, Russia, Australia, Ukraine and The Netherlands. Sorry Belarus – the Netherlands are just too cute.
My number one is Australia 🙂
I’ve voted for:
F.Y.R Macedonia
Belarus
Russia
Ukraine
Georgia
I already voted for Ireland, Australia and Portugal twenty times and I can still add more votes. This is just ridiculous seriously. I am glad my country is not part of this circus.
But you still voted twenty times for this circus…
My votes from Greece:
-Ireland
-Italy
-Russia
-Armenia
-Ukraine
Italy and Ireland were my third and fifth and I really liked their rehearsals. Russia and Armenia my first and second, didn’t really like rehearsals but keeping faith.
Belarus was my pre contest fourth but it dropped somehow and I was between Ukraine and Portugal for the fifth vote, who to me were both fantastic in rehearsals. I chose Ukraine and left Portugal out, but I still say, Mariana Venancio has the biggest charisma of all!
Georgia, Ireland, Macedonia, Cyprus and the Netherlands, because I think that all these countries, except for Georgia, are always underrated the last couple of years, and these are also the songs I like the most this year.
I’ve voted for:
F.Y.R Macedonia
Belarus
the Netherlands
Russia
Ireland
Out of all the people who commented there only 2 persons who mentioned Armenia’s name as the one they voted for, but just look at that poll, please. The result of the online voting will be just like this, “somehow” Armenia will manage to find a place in Top 3 when it’s one of the least favourites of this year’s contest. smh
Belarus
Ukraine
Ireland
Portugal
Australia
I have voted for Ireland, Belarus, Macedonia, Ukraine and Serbia. But I gotta say this online voting thing is just a terrible idea. I am sure poles and armenians are voting for their countries like there’s no tomorrow. At the end of the day JESC fans’ votes will consist only small part of this voting, because obviously this will turn out to be a battle of nationalists rather than songs.
In voted for Belarus, Armenia and Australia.
My votes from Azerbaijan were for Ireland, Belarus, Serbia, Ukraine and Malta. 🙂
Vote from Canada (no particular order): Belarus, Malta, Russia, Australia and Poland. Ukraine came very close to my 5th choice! 🙂
PS: was able to vote 4 times today! 3 times on different desktop browsers and once on smartphone…hope they have the tech to neutralize this. Can just imagine how much over-voting is happening. Maybe they don’t care???
I voted for Georgia, Armenia, Poland, Russia and Belarus
Love from Israel ?
Wish I could also vote for Ireland.. Perhaps on Sunday
I voted for Russia, Macedonia, Belarus, Albania and Ukraine
I voted for Australia, Belarus & Cyprus.
I have voted for: Belarus, Cyprus, Italy, Poland, Ireland.
Ireland
Malta
Portugal
Italy
Netherlands
I think the little Cranberry from Ireland should win. She sounds mature but still like a child.
My top 2 is the same
-Ireland
-Malta
From the Philippines, I voted for:
1. Albania
2. Ireland
3. Poland
4. Portugal
5. Ukraine
I managed to vote thrice today, once on my phone, and twice on desktop (with one done on incognito mode out of curiosity).
Hopefully, the EBU has an able system in place to filter out fraud votes done through incognito and VPN.
Australia Cyprus Netherlands Belarus Malta Macedonia (had to vote twice and add some other randoms that wouldn’t do well so australia does better XD)
