The dates are set! Slovenia will select its act for Eurovision 2022 on Saturday 19 February. But there are three qualifying shows to come before the EMA 2022 grand final — the EMA FREŠ final on 28 January, semi-final one on 5 February and semi-final 2 on 12 February.

Along with the dates, RTVSLO also revealed the running order for both semi-finals. Each show will feature eight pre-qualified acts alongside two EMA FREŠ qualifiers. There will be six qualifiers on both nights with the public televote selecting three and an expert jury choosing another three, resulting in a 12 song final. The overall winner will be determined by a 50/50 split between the public and a jury made up of five different panels.

Furthermore, the broadcaster has confirmed that 30-second snippets of the 16 pre-qualifiers will be published on 20 and 21 January. Snippets are already out for the EMA FREŠ finalists.

How can you have so many songs that most likely will sound boring as usual? Keep up with the game Slovenia!

I haven’t heard any of the entries so far, but I’d really like Slovenia to fare well in the contest.
I mean, Slovenia always comes with something unexpected and out-of-the-box, though it doesn’t always pan out. It’d be nice if at least it got some recognition more often imo.

Oh boy, another national final taking place on 19 February. Now that makes it six. It’s going to be one crowded day.

On the other hand the most famous are BQL and Manouche as well as talent-show famous David Amaro and Jonathan Thaller with a big social media following. The rest is more or less unknown and just there for exposure. The televote will favour BQL, while the juries will prevent them from winning. They’ll probably go with David Amaro – first and only openly gay singer in Slovenia and has an amazing voice. Televote will probably not like it that much, so anything… Read more »
