They’re the act that found a second chance in San Marino’s national selection after coming short in Spain a year earlier. And boy did rock band Megara seize the moment. In February they duked it out against over a hundred other competitors with their defiant banger “11:11”. And now they’re off to Malmö to live their Eurovision dream.
The title of the song references the so-called “angel number.” In numerology, it can refer to synchronicity — when the timing is right — and signal a spiritual awakening, self-awareness, and personal growth. San Marino at Eurovision 2024: Megara with “11:11”
Megara is a Madrid-based band well-known to those in Eurovision circles. Its members include front-woman Kenzy Loevett, bassist Vitti Crocutta, guitarist Tio Rober Bueno, and drummer Raphaela Tache.
Formed in 2015, the band describes their genre as “Fuschia rock”, which you might have picked up on from their cotton candy meets LSD look. They’ve released several EPs and albums, and have featured at different festivals including the Download Festival and Resurrection Fest in 2019.
They entered Eurovision talks last year at Benidorm Fest 2023, when they participated with the fan favorite song “Arcadia”, finishing fourth overall.
The desire to participate in the contest did not dwindle after that, even if they weren’t selected to form part of Benidorm Fest in 2024. Instead, they traveled all the way to San Marino to participate in Una Voce Per San Marino. After multiple rounds, including a second chance round, they rose through the ranks and earned the right to represent the microstate in Eurovision, beating several high-profile acts such as Corona, Loredana Berte, La Rua, and more.
What do the “11:11” lyrics mean?
In a press release, the band stated that the song was written over the course of a few days with the intent of creating something that the band had never done before.
The aggressive topic of resistance is prominent throughout the song. They frequently boast about their achievements and dismiss their detractors: “You think you can drag me down? We lit up Benidorm” they sing confidently. This attitude of rising above and then spitting things back comes through most clearly with the ME LA PELA spelling, which in Spanish is equivalent to IDGAF about what you have to say.
Filled with Spanish flair, from the jargon to the flamenco guitar in the bridge, Kenzy carries this confident, too-cool-for-you attitude into the song. She says that, despite the heartbreak of a rejection, she will keep jumping and dancing and will remain herself through it all.

Megara grows up in live, in each concert. And people will feel this strengh and power. They deserve a place in the final and I’m sure that their staging in Malmõ will be unforgetable and will fill the stadium of fucsian rock. Good luck, Megara!!!!
Definitely one of the most underrated songs this year, the energy when they are performing live is fantastic, can’t wait to see them on that stage in Malmo this year

I actually agree with you. The title is not even said in the song, so you can call it whatever you want, at least from a Spanish perspective, in case you don’t know, we call “U dos” to U2, and live happily with that :).
