Meet Poland’s First “Krajowe Eliminacje” Finalists for 2011

TVP, Poland’s national broadcaster, has released the names of the first five artists who have qualified for “Krajowe Eliminacje,” the country’s national selection contest. Wiwi has listened to the songs that are already available on YouTube and he is confident that Poland has what it takes to make it past the semi-finals (for the first time since 2004). The finalists as of now are:

SheMoans with “Supergirl”

Anna Gogola with “Ktos taki jak ty”

Magdalena Tul with “Jestem”

Roan with “Meybe”

The Positive with “Control”

The song “Supergirl” is also the theme song for the TV show Poland’s Next Top Model (not to be confused with Wiwi’s annual search for Eurovision’s Next Top Model). You can watch the show’s opening (and hear the song!) here:

“Control” is expected to be disqualified from the selection because a video of the song has been online since November 2009, thereby violating the rules of Krajowe Eliminacje.

A professional jury selected the first five qualifiers and consisted of: Peter Klatt (Chairman), Maria Szab?owska, Thomas Deszczy?ski, Nicholas Dobrowolski, Krzysztof Szewczyk, Paul Sztompka, Marek Sierocki and Artur Orzech.

Poland’s national final takes place on Monday, February 14 (Valentine’s Day).
