If the iTunes chart is anything to go by, then Saturday’s Melodfifestivalen 2011 final is a two-horse race between Sara Varga (“Spring for Livet”) and Danny Saucedo (“In The Club”). Here’s how the charts currently stand, as of Thursday, March 10:
Sara Varga’s success on the charts could just be an effect of recent memory: the second chance round took place last week, and of the songs on show Sweden liked hers best. If that’s the case, then Danny’s position at #2 is even more significant. He hasn’t performed since the first semi-final more than a month ago. Looks like Sweden is hungry for some extra Saucedo.
Wiwi did some digging and managed to pull up the iTunes chart from March 13, 2010 — the day of last year’s final. Interestingly, eventual winner Anna Bergendahl was charting at #1 that morning, and second-place finisher Salem Al Fakir was charting at #2 . Will history repeat itself?
