The Saade hit machine has another winner on its hands with ‘Winning Ground’. Coupled with its’ status as the official theme for UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 it has success written all over it. The superb Swedish production makes for a lovely listen and Mr Saade is easy on the eyes as always. Unusually for Eric there’s some dodgy dancing, but don’t worry, for most of the song he relies upon sweeping camera angles, walking purposefully and tensing his amazing arms. I might even dare to say the song is his strongest since 2011’s Popular rocked the stage in Dusseldorf.
The higher tempo certainly plays to Saade’s strength, briskly bubbling along for four and a half minutes. Moreover the omnipresent ‘woahs’ make the song insanely catchy. “I’ve been tasting the dirt too long,” he declares with renewed determination, and you can’t help but think Eric’s talking about the chart problems he suffered with ‘Coming Home.’ The desert looked hot in the video sweetie, but the song didn’t exactly set charts on fire . Were it anyone other than Eric, I might be asking him to gain back ground before he sets his eyes on winning some, but between his confident smirk and the quality of the song, I’m not sure he ever lost dominion over the Swedish Dance Heartthrob territory. One thing though Eric: PLEASE call your choreographer, your freestyle was not fabulous.
