For five years, the city of Sebtúbal in Portugal has been hosting the biggest “off-season” Eurovision event of the calendar. This is of course the “Eurovision Live Concert”, which will be taking place on the 5th, 6th and 7th of September this year. If there are any Eurovision fans that are looking for sun rather than the Danish weather in May, this is the event for you!

The initiative started in 2009, and has gradually gained more and more support from across Europe. In 2013 over 6000 people attended each concert in the Auditorium José Afonso. A variety of Eurovision stars have performed at the festival including icons like Johnny Logan, Celine Dion and Cliff Richard, and more recent artists like Joan Franka, Pasha Parfeny and Blue.

This year, Moran Mazor and Roberto Bellarosa will be representing those from Malmö and performing during the weekend. Other Eurovision artists from previous years performing include Vânia Fernandes and Vlad Mirita from 2008, Birgitta Haukdal who performed at Eurovision 2003, and Jalisse who represented Italy at Eurovision in 1997!

The wide range of Eurovision artists from a variety of years means that there will be something for everyone at this year’s “Eurovision Live Concert”. There isn’t much else happening in the Eurovision calendar until the National Finals begin in winter, so get your tickets now! More information about the event can be found on the official website.

I’m not saying it was a flop. I loved the song, and definitely thought that it should have been ranked higher. The Italians considered it one of the greatest fails in music, so that’s why I put flop in quotation marks.

Being 4th in a 25 country competition is not a flop. But being dismissed by the whole italian public opinion and music industry was a bad luck moment for them. I guess their winning at that year’s San Remo was just not a good thing at all and I find it sad especially cause she has a remarkable voice … while he should keep his mouth shut and just pretend he plays some chords in the guitar (in a very Roxetti-ish way).

Glad to see Jalisse back in the business after their “flop” in 1997.
