NAPA – “Deslocado” (Portugal Eurovision 2025)
Review: NAPA – “Deslocado”
William: Portugal’s NAPA seem like they’ve walked straight out of amateur night at the local pub and onto the Eurovision stage. This carefree, down-to-earth vibe is among their greatest strengths: They stand out for their honesty and simplicity, for a song that cries out from the heart. The chorus sneaks up on you like a warm embrace. Once it takes hold you don’t want to let go! Unfortunately, the verses lack the strength of the swell and I worry that audiences accustomed to constant changes and in-your-face bops may not be awake for that gorgeous refrain. Staging will be essential. Either way, I’m sending my love to Madeira.
Score: 6
Pablo: Portugal is a country that frustrates me. They have shown they can offer something stark and unique in their own way in the past, but “Deslocado” is three minutes that just pass by without creating any impact whatsoever. Musically simple, vocally unimpressive, and it doesn’t really expose the lyrical potential it has, making this whole experience almost tedious. There’s nothing really outstanding about this song, and in Eurovision that’s a fatal blow I don’t believe NAPA can overcome even with a great live performance.
Score: 2
Ruxandra: This song is anything but generic. I really love the indie vibe and the way they interact in the live performance. Even though there’s only one vocalist, the instrumental is so well-crafted that it allows me to notice and appreciate each band member and their contribution. I would have loved to hear this performed 100 percent live, but obviously, that’s not their fault. This song brings diversity to this year’s playlist, and the lyrics are absolutely brilliant and delicate.
Score: 9
Tomas: “Deslocado” is one of the entries this year that I haven’t given a lot of my attention. But as time goes on, I think I might have been wrong in that. Every single time I listen to this song, I find it more interesting. I wish NAPA all the best and success in the contest — and who knows, similarly-styled authentic entries from Portugal have done really well before in the contest.
Score: 4

Portugal 8/12
Slumber inducing
As someone from Portugal, sure, this song might not be the best to other European countries and other eurofans, but the way “Pablo” rated it is just immature. Going on a whole paragraph borderline bashing the song is just wrong. At best, just say it’s not for you. “Musically simple” as he put it is NOT a bad thing in any way, and thats the point of this song. You cannot expect a song about being far from the daily life of your true home in a girl bop form. This response is the most immature and horribly worded response… Read more »
They seem nice and everything, if not a bit bored by this. Dunno… I have a feeling this would work a lot better with a girl singing.
“Deslocado” is a nice song with a slow pace throughout. It is rather moody and uses the F-sharp major key and some intricate harmonies to evoke a feeling of “soft waves”, longing for a far away home in the middle of the ocean. Verse 1 provides the feeling of being dislocated away from home by juxtaposing the lead singer’s melody against different counter-melody on the piano part and later on a guitar as well. While I admire the creativity, it is a bit complicated to listen to the Verses when they have been so intricately woven like this. My ears… Read more »
Actually I must be honest Portugal is biggest disappointment this year – after they sending so good songs every year – my all time favourite song is no on else then Maro Saudade Saudade
This song reminds me of the soft-rock ballads of the 1970s; and that’s what makes it so unique in this year’s competition. Solidly in my top 13.
Really cannot see Portugal going to the final this year
This song makes me sleepy
PORTUGAL – Perhaps the most unexpected winner of a NF this year came from FdC at the very end of the season. Some other songs were just percieved by fans as the most obvious options from a competitive standpoint. Indeed, Deslocado is slow and not as immediate of a song, but it is quite lovely nonetheless. One of the things that made a lot of the Portuguese televoters go for it are probably its sentimental lyrics about their homeland, the Madeira island. The sing about missing their island and not fitting in the big city’s landscape, and the lyrics are… Read more »
In the three years I’ve watched Festival da Cancao, I’ve found myself with a recurring thought: “If my mom was still around, I’d have to show this to her. She would have absolutely loved this.” This is reflective of two things, I think: The first is that there’s always a place for sturdy, adult-oriented songwriter-first fare at FdC, in a way that benefits the Eurovision enterprise as a whole. The second is that, oh my god, Portugal has completely slipped their saudade straight into my soul. Through Eurovision! Deslocado is the ultimate example of this. It’s a total nostalgia bomb;… Read more »
So underrated. This is one of my favs, but I get it that it’s not for everyone. You either live this or you don’t get it completely. I will vote for this.
When wiwibloggs reviewed Black Mamba’s Love is on My Side in 2021, they gave it a 4.32/10 – lower than NAPA. And yet, it turns out to be a fantastic song. I would rather hold off my reviews until I see how they stage their performance.
It’s interesting how some entries are praised for being stripped-back and elegant when paired with strong presence, while others with similar simplicity are seen as lacking impact. Perhaps the difference lies not in the song itself, but in how we interpret subtlety. Portugal’s performer also brings a strong presence—just in a more introspective, grounded way. A musically restrained entry can still be emotionally effective if we allow space for its message and mood to resonate—especially in a diverse contest like Eurovision, where not every moment has to be showstopping to be meaningful. Songs that rely on introspection and subtle interpretation… Read more »
20th place: Portugal: I am a big fan of Portugal at Eurovision and regularly have them high up. Unfortunately this year I am quite underwhelmed. Deslocado certainly has its instrumental moments and is also pretty nostalgic both in the atmosphere it creates and as far as its lyrics are concerned. Nevertheless, it doesn’t seem to go anywhere in particular and even if I am into melancholic songs, this one doesn’t intrigue me to listen it over and over again. I also fear that for the Eurovision context, this song isn’t fitting.
Pablo gives the Portuguese song a score of 2 because: “Musically simple, vocally unimpressive, and it doesn’t really expose the lyrical potential it has (…) There’s nothing really outstanding about this song.” And he gives the Spanish song a score of 9 because: “Melody is one of the top performers of the year, and “ESA DIVA” lives up to her expectations. This fresher, stripped-back angle compliments her imposing stage presence without smothering the listener nor compromising who she is as a performer. She sells decadence and schmaltz in a way everyone can enjoy guiltlessly, making grandeur and confidence inclusive to… Read more »
Portugal always gives us quality and their songs makes you feel warm. However I don’t think this will be memorable enough to qualify
5/10
I love this song and this kind of music is what I like to listen to outside of Eurovision but ultimately despite that the Eurofans don’t like it, there’s nothing flashy and it’ll fall to the back and end up NQ. But I bet it’ll still be one of the songs from this year I end up streaming the most.
thank you next
Portugal – Another incredible song from Portugal! Like I said about Italy’s entry, this song takes me to a warm, happy place. Songs like this are very few and far between and I’m somewhat not surprised by the scores here, but this is one of my favourites this year. Portugal have been on a really great streak for me ever since Salvador Sobral won, and I really hope this qualifies to the final. It is currently my third place. 9/10
Pablo not getting Portugal is more predictable than the sun going down at sunset
Agree with Ruxandra. For me it stands out from this year’s crop, a lad singing a simple homecoming song and looking like he’s enjoying himself. No divas, dance breaks, gimmicks, unreproducible vocal effects or entendres. I love the keyboards.
I don’t understand that this song can obtain less than 5. I truly think this is a really good song, maybe it is not your “typical” Eurovision song, but having only typical Eurovision songs in the contest would be sooo boring.
Insanely underrated, and I much preferred Josh but this is so good and deserves so much more
13. Portugal – NAPA – Deslocado -7.5/10 – this is very gentle and unassuming, it is perhaps the most unique mood we have this year. The calmness in the verses develops into a melancholic chorus. The track hints that it is going to stray into jazz lounge territory which I’m glad it doesn’t. It’s nice to see a guitar solo make an appearance. Perhaps not impactful enough to do very well in Eurovision but I’ll enjoy the relaxing three minutes it gives me nonetheless
