Eric Saade will always be revered for putting Sweden back in the Top 3 at ESC. He was the first Swedish artist to do so since Charlotte Perrelli’s victory in 1999. Although Loreen has eclipsed that achievement, Saade remains Sweden’s most googled, and most talked-about, star.
Later this month, he will release his fourth album ‘Forgive Me’. The title track serves as the second single.
‘Forgive Me’ is a mid tempo ballad that talks about the trials and tribulations of love, and one that sees the protagonist seek forgiveness for his indiscretions. In the video, the woman doesn’t give in. But then why should she? Men can be complete glands. Like football and lager, it’s a bloke thing, and this is part of the problem. Eric Saade doesn’t live up to his reputation as a smooth operator. Or is there a mix-up with female singing sensation Sade here? Let’s add another “a” to the name.
The trouble with Eric Saade is that he sounds like a one-man boyband. ‘Forgive Me’ is pleasant, it’s listenable, but it’s lacking in edge, and suffers from being repetitive yet somehow very forgettable. I’ve boarded Scandinavian Airlines to music more memorable. ‘Popular’ was very eighties in sound, ‘Forgive Me’ is stuck in the mid-nineties. The sound isn’t quite vintage enough to have the cool factor. Besides, it’s been done better by loads of other people before. The falsetto at the end is about as spunky as it gets. It isn’t speaking the language of love, nor is it getting my knickers in a twist.
The video serves up great product placement for lots of brands including SMEG, General Motors, and IKEA. Jeremy Irons lookalikes and domestic violence also make an appearance. The highlight for me is when the female lead attempts to move her Opel Astra within the four walls of the studio, and is defeated by the complexity of the operation (01.47). It made me smile.
Even so, Saade needs to say ‘Forgive Me’ for this lacklustre and ultimately shallow turn.

This is not Erics best song I know…and this cd not his best, I know that too. But I love his performance, his music. He works very hard for it. No, no only teenage girls like Eric. I am a male from the Netherlands 😉
Eric Saade = SEXY! But, I’m sorry, he’s not a real singer.
i like HONESTY. eric is a good singer, but this song is really, really awful. it does not suit him. all of you sad people complaining need to get a life. applaud when he deserves applause, as with “hearts in the air” that song was amazing. and guess what? i learned about it on this site.
We just LOVE Eric Saade, his adorable VOICE, music, dancing and natural apperance!
Don’t expect ANY followers to your site with this negativness and ugly, false words, you are using on a talented 22 year old young man with success!!
You catch more followers with sugar than with acid !! Remember that!!
!
Zero is not what he deserves for his song zero is your IQ level Giorgio
you always have to be negative to him, right? he has nice songs and voice and also he is so cute! actually doesnt matter if you dont agree with me but a little respect wouldnt be so bad…
Only lame teenage girls like Eric Saade. He is not an artist. He is vain, self-obsessed, and his music is boring and predictable. Greetings from Brussels.
Eric Saade is NOT a musician. He is a piece of manufactured crap. Take away the clothes, the make-up and you’re left with…nothing. He was lucky to have good producers in Dusseldorf. They got third place, not him. Sorry girls…he deserves a ZERO for this song.
This man is making his dreams come true if you don`t like it guess what? Noone gives a shit…..Eric never cared about people like you with Van Gogh`s ear for music so we won`t too ..bye
Oh, goodie… Another “review” that says nothing about the song. Says nothing about the artist. Says nothing about the video. It’s just endless negativity and hate. Could you people please stop? A “review” like this one speaks volumes about the author, and all I can think is that Deban sure needs a hug.
Sure he can sing better than you can..
I have one issue with this kid … regardless anything he may sing … singing is not a talent I have ever recognized in him. I honestly don’t believe in him as an artist or a musician. It’s all too artificial for my taste. He may have the image that fits and suits the pop-artist of today when you look at the big international scene and see the amount of screeming teeange girls just wanting to … god knows what with him LOL. And like I said before: he has too much focus on him when comparatively there are so… Read more »
I think we listened to different songs..it’s amazing. Only song from the ep that can top it is ‘Cover Girl’, you should give it a listen!
Eric Saade … Voice … Ballad… Three words that just don’t get along at all. This kid is the Bieber of Eurovision … and that is not in any way a good thing. With such remarkable and trully talented people coming from the land of ABBA why does one keep putting this kid under the spotlight?
