The UK’s 2014 Eurovision singer Molly Smitten-Downes has signed a recording contract with Warner Music UK.
Smitten-Downes had previously been an unsigned act trying to make it on her own. Her efforts paid off as the BBC selected her for Eurovision from BBC Introducing – a scheme that helps promote the music of undiscovered talent, and which has helped launch acts such as Florence + The Machine and Marina and the Diamonds.
Now it looks like the buzz surrounding Molly’s Eurovision bid has caught the attention of the biggest players in the industry. The Warner Music Group already represents Eurovision alums including Amandine Bourgeois, Anggun, Arash, and Loreen, and non-Eurovision artists including Bjork, Bruno Mars, and Madonna.
Molly will perform her song ‘Children of the Universe’ in the Grand Final on May 10th at the B&W Hallerne in Copenhagen. Molly is currently on course to be named WiwiBloggs favourite automatic qualifier with a 200-vote lead on second place Ruth Lorenzo and is also currently in 5th place in the poll for over all winner of the Contest.
