His first try at Melodifestivalen might not have been so rewarding, but we can certainly say that Alvaro Estrella should not give up. He recently put out All In My Head, and unleashed his inner Ace Wilder. With a half-acoustic, half-hip-hop sort of melody, he has taken a hint or two from Miss Wilder. Thematically they are kindred spirits. Like Busy Doin’ Nothin’, his song is about relaxing and clearing your mind.

In a music scene filled with synths, Estrella separates himself from the crowd with this acoustic guitar backing. His voice is a bit annoying in the verses (seriously, do you need to inflect every sentence?), and it gets really repetitive. But the lyrical content is leaps and bounds beyond Bedroom. It doesn’t reference doing stuff in every room and on every piece of furniture.

Although we are glad to see him center-stage after being a backing dancer for so many years, he still has a long way to go. This is the start, and quite a good start at that.

I actually like Bedroom more, but this one is also good. Neither Bedroom nor All in my head would win Melodifestivalen of course, but his songs are enjoyable and easy to listen, that’s what I like about him.
