On September 15 RTS, Serbia’s state broadcaster, confirmed that it intends to participate in Eurovision 2015, assuming it can secure funding. Well, if a report in today’s print edition of the tabloid Blic has it right, then Belgrade has already found the cash and will be singing on your TV this May!
Running with the headline “Srbija opet na Eurosongu”—Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest again—Blic is giving us all hope.
The paper claims RTS has sourced 200,000 euros from advertising and sponsors, and 150,000 euros from RTS itself.
If they find more sponsors, RTS will stage its popular Beosong national selection. If not, it will choose internally, the report says.
Are you excited? Do you have a print edition of today’s paper?
Thank you to wiwireader Petar for the photos and tip!
This is very good news. Serbia’s entries can be exceptional (2007, 2008, 2012), so I’m looking forward to this.
@Nick
It will be the formula of 2007, same composer, same manager…
Moje 3 was my guilty pleasure of 2013! I really loved it! The staging was so freaking hilarious though, that nobody could take it seriously. I mean, the staging/outfits in the original video was still bad, but in Malmö, they certainly deserved their Barbara Dex Award!
Serbia always take good songs, really liked Nina – Caroban in 2011 as well! Was interesting to hear a typical British 1960s style song not in English!
Now pray that they have competent staging this time.
It’s always kind of crazy to think that Serbia won on their first try. Hopefully they can rediscover that formula from 2007-2010 and blow everyone away in Vienna! 🙂
Staging won’t win the contest for you but, it can certainly lose it for you.
Moje 3 staging…lol. It was my fourth favourite song and I was devastated to not see it advance, though.
Yes! Moje 3 were so good, but the staging lost the whole meaning of the song and since it was in another language, it was difficult to understand. The staging was better when the song was first presented, still one of my favourite songs in 2013 though! Welcome back 🙂
I am excited. I want to see Serbia back in 2015.
Serbia always sends good songs so I’m hopefully for 2015. Moje 3 just happened to be a disaster on stage but the studio version was probably good enough to qualify. Not my cup of tea though.
Yeah! Hoping for some Serbian Balkanpop or -Balladaction
