When we heard that BHRT – Bosnia & Herezgovina’s national broadcaster – had filed the preliminary application to sing at Eurovision, we jumped for joy. The application means they intend to participate in Eurovision 2015.

As for now, Bosnia and Herzegovina have yet decided if they are actually going to be in Vienna. They will do that by next Friday, October 31st. But don’t worry: things are looking brighter than ever in the land of cevapi.

As popular Bosnian-Herzegovinian newspaper Dnevni Avaz reports today, sources close to BHRT confirmed they are back after a two-year absence. What’s even more interesting is that sources close to Hari Mata Hari claim that the group has been internally selected as Bosnia-Herzegovinian representative. If you’re going to go back, why not go back with a bang?

As you’ll recall, Hari Mata Hari, the group led by Hajrudin Varesanovic, represented Bosnia & Herzegovina in Eurovision 2006 with their song “Lejla”. In the Grand Final they achieved third place, which is the country’s best result up to date.

Dnevni avaz has proof for their claim: Tonci Huljic, popular Croatian singer and songwriter, has confirmed that he was contacted by BHRT to speak about Eurovision. He promised that he would say more in the weeks ahead, which coincides with BHRT’s participation decision.

Beside Tonci, other regional singers/composers/songwriters that are rumoured to write and compose a song for Hari Mata Hari are: Zeljko Joksimovic (Serbia and Montenegro 2004, Serbia 2012 representative, composer of Lejla), Goran Bregovic (composer and lyricist of Ovo je Balkan (Serbia 2010), Eurovision 2008 interval act), Fahrudin Pecikoza Peca (penned the lyrics of Lejla).

Would you like to see Hari Mata Hari back? What if they bring Eurovision to economically unstable Bosnia and Herzegovina?

I am really looking forward to this. Especially if Zeljko Joksimovic gets in on the act. But I fear that they might end up like Romania this year and not do as well as previously. But look at Dima Bilan, he came 2nd in 2006 (Where Hari Mata Hari came 3rd.) and then won it 2 years later. But that is because Dima is a huge star all across Eastern Europe. I know that Hari Mata Hari are huge in Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, but outside of the Former Yugoslavia, people wouldn’t know them well enough. I hope they… Read more »

Taking part with a great worthy musical composition, fine by me … otherwise Hara is just another name amongst many ESC fans will always like for a reason or another … but it’s the music that should stand out, not the performer himself … As for the second question about like the idea of wanting or not to see Bosnia win and bring the show to the “economically unstable” country… I don’t know if I would take this as just a banal comment or a very offensive one … it make me question: do you want to see Bosnia win… Read more »
