What happens when two Spanish pop divas collide? Winds rise, gales blow and hurricanes wreak havoc. And no, we’re not being melodramatic.

“El Huracan” is the latest single from Soraya’s sixth studio album, “Universe In Me”. The Eurovision 2009 star is joined by Vega, a talent show graduate who has four successful albums and three number one singles to her name.

Soraya feat. Vega – “El Huracán” Music Video

The video attempts to visualise the trauma of a rocky relationship by comparing it to boats sailing in the middle of a hurricane. The metaphors embedded here suggest that the protagonist and her lover are two boats floating on the ocean without a paddle, and that eventually, they’ll have to face the nasty hurricane advancing towards them. Forty-eight seconds into the video, Vega’s hand peers right out of Soraya’s ceiling whilst she’s in bed with her man. Like something out of a horror movie. DRAMA!

Whilst the imagery may be a tad too literal, it adds an extra dimension to the song, which is fraught with emotion. The lyrics convey a feeling of helplessness; “Listen to the hurricane advancing. It will destroy us. It will destroy everything. We have no time to stop it. Just stay with me”. There’s no calm after this storm.
