Leonor Andrade has stepped into 2015! Today she unveiled the newly revamped version of Portugal’s Eurovision 2015 song “Há um Mar que nos Separa” and we are loving it. Miss Andrade sings about “a sea that separates us” but with this new version she’s closed the gap. We want her in our face and in our ears!

As we saw at Festival da Canção, Leonor has a lovely voice and knows how to channel some Amandine Bourgeois crazy. But the original version of her song didn’t match her rocker chick edge, and it all came off a bit meh. The instrumental opening lacked fire and the song felt flat toward the end. Fortunately she has hit the studio and cranked it up. The new opening sounds more EDM — bless that synthesizer — and the bridge feels much more dramatic. It makes me want to stick around for the ending.

What do you think? Has Leonor just boosted her chances of making the final?

@João

@G. Pereira

Without lyrics I can understand, this song relies totally on the music. Unfortunately it is just an average, forgettable song. I will be surprised if it goes to the final.

@WTF Nao digas isto! Nem de brincadeira! A musica brasileira eh pobre.
Boa sorte a Leonor.

2nd semi-final is really hard and I feel sorry for Portugal, because they are not as strong as other countries. I don’t say the song is bad or other songs are better, but they are just weak Eurovision country. Good luck Portugal! My top for 2nd semi-final: 1. Latvia 2. Slovenia 3. Norway 4. Ireland 5. PORTUGAL 6. Azerbaijan 7. Czech Republic 8. Iceland 9. Sweden 10. Lithuania 11. Poland 12. Switzerland 13. Malta 14. Israel 15. Cyprus 16. Montenegro 17. @Andy as well as most latvians are. They just hate Eurovision and I think it’s the same with Portugal. They think why they need to spend country funds for a contest where they always fail in.

This song makes me happy. In my Top5, maybe in the first place, but need to hear a few more times. The chorus stuck in my memory ever since I heard this new version. Amazing. I wish I knew Portuguese: sounds beautiful to me.

I feel so sorry for Portugal every year:( Such a beautiful country and such bad luck at Eurovision. The new version is ok – at first I thought that it was a remix;) Nonetheless, I still regard this entry as too boring. I don’t see Portugal qualifying to the final… again:/ Will we ever live to see Portugal hosting ESC?

I am a music producer and the voice is way to low. A really bad production, it’s already a bad song, boring, but the production is really bad. Too bad.

Muito ruim tudo. A produção e péssima.

I love this!!! The quality of the recording is not the best, as many have already pointed out, and I know it may struggle to qualify, but this is my favourite song in 2015! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to vote for it in the semi, but I hope Europe will give me the chance to do it in the final! Fingers crosses! Go Leonor!

The backing vocals and the instrumental overshadow her during the chorus, but the song has definitely improved. It won’t be enough to put Portugal in the final though, there are just too many good songs in semi 2, and their only neighbour won’t be voting in it.

GOD what an inept, amateurish remix! I mean, I’m glad some people like it, but that’s not even professional quality audio engineering, let alone a good update. You can barely hear her vocals under all the glop.

I guess if you like lots and lots and lots and LOTS of reverb …

Also, that source website doesn’t look like an RTP thing, that video is the only thing that YouTube account has ever uploaded (and their website is “under construction”), and neither the Festival da Canção site nor Eurovision.tv has this alleged update. You sure you guys haven’t been trolled?

I still wish her vocal was stronger – it just seems to get a bit lost in all that heavy backing music. Go on, Leonor, give it some massive “sforzando” and kick yourself into the finals!
