As wiwibloggs gears up for Azerbaijani singer Emin’s UK-televised concert on Friday 24 July at Bush Hall in London, it’s time to get acquainted with his latest album, More Amor.
Emin — who you’ll remember from the Eurovision 2012 interval — oozes ambition, and so does his new album. Although Team Emin are branding it as totally new, songs like “Baby Get Higher”, “Walk Through Walls” and “Amor” had a life prior to More Amor. These old songs form the backbone of the 16-track album.
Very BBC Radio 2 in sound, Emin has crafted a unique brand of easy listening pop. His songs are breezy and feel familiar. Coupled with his clean cut, rich playboy image, Emin has enough appeal to keep Western markets interested.
And so does “Woman”, which opens the album. It’s the current single and features Charly Williams, who also helped to write it. Delivered with his signature crooner style, it offers new listeners a delightful introduction to his sound.
With eight successful albums under his belt, Emin Agalarov, who’s just turned 36, has accomplished a lot. He is the only Azerbaijani artist who gets regular radio play in the USA, Germany and the UK. Perhaps it comes as no surprise that he won the Golden Gramophone and a trophy at the World Music Awards for the best-selling artist from Azerbaijan.
In addition to providing Eurovision with the most spectacular interval act of the decade, Emin was the star performer at the 2013 Miss Universe beauty pageant. His sass and star power with the ladies secured him other beauty pageant gigs from Austria to The Philippines. Also, he performed at the Winter Olympics in Sochi. Earlier music videos have featured cameos from Olivia Culpo to presidential hopeful Donald Trump. Recently, he was appointed as Jennifer Lopez’s special guest on some of her European tour dates.
Y’all, there’s still time to grab a ticket to this exclusive event online.
