Il Volo: They sing, they break hearts, and they do it in many tongues. Following their third-place finish at Eurovision 2015, the Italian group have released their entry “Grande Amore” in Spanish. The lyrics are pretty much a direct translation. Snaps for linguistic similarity, y’all!
Instead of redo-ing their Spiderman/Alien/Back to the Future music video, they chose a concert performance as their music video, appealing to the simpler desires of us all. While there is countless footage of them being silly and joking as friends, they manage to keep it together to sing it to their “grande amore”. We holla as we shout hola!
Il Volo won this year’s televoting with their charisma, powerful voices and a song that appealed to young and old alike. They ultimately won nine sets of douze points and are memorialized in this year’s Eurovision’s Next Top Male Model contest, having taken two of the top three positions.
We have covered several Italian singers who have translated their greatest hits into Spanish, particularly 2013 contestant Marco Mengoni. Il Volo already has significant global appeal and millions of international fans (a fan in Mexico even threw a brassiere on stage). Surely they’ve just earned a few more in Mexico, Venezuela and beyond. Bravo and ole!

It’s about time you got an article on this XDDD This came out like three weeks ago!
Nice! But I’m sure that if my country, Spain, had sent this same song in Spanish and with Il Volo too, it wouldn’t come even to the top 10… Always the same.
A beautiful song remains beautiful in any language but even more so when sung in ITALIAN or SPANISH ! @ Daniel if you hate this song than please just don’t listed to it !! @ lazy no one is spitting out salt …only you are !!
As someone who speaks both languages, this version is A M A Z I N G.
Yeah, thanks, you. I know every place he plays in. Like in Lithuania on friday. But I am personally not fond of those Robbie-Williams-entertainement-duets-with-slightly-older-people. Feels like he does them cause he’s to nice to say no. Prefer him when he is the rockstar that he is.
In all fairness, both versions are almost identical, they just changed some vocals lol. Still, it was translated well and the guys sing almost perfect spanish. I’m glad they kept it Grande Amore instead of Gran Amor.
Cheers for linguistic similarities indeed.
IL VOLOOOO ?
Gianluca, Ignazio, and Piero so handsome and talented ? really like their voice yay
Their spanish version is great too >___<) They're absolutely my winner this year lol
Robin; Thank you for your answer! But I’m not sure anymore, there has been to many unfair words so far. We’ll see, I guess.
Feels like I suddenly have to let out my little bit of salt; 2015 we finally had a winner that was so, so, so humble, sweet and good. But Wiwibloggs didn’t let him in in your top 5 of best live voices, nor did he barely make top 8 of the topmodel (?) competition. Are you blind – and deaf? And nowadays you don’t even acknowlogde him at all. Really – what’s up?
Strange, but I have to confess I don’t hear… any difference 😉 Spanish and Italian apparently are much more akin that I had always thought.
As someone who speaks Spanish as a second language but also understands Italian, lyrically it was almost identical. Love both versions, even though I like the original Italian version a bit more.
Please release a Swedish version also!!!
Yawn! 50 articles and not one about the actual winner. Just the same people spitting out salt again and again. I’m getting really bored. I guess everyone want’s to live in the little bubble. How sad.
More wiwi articles please.. 🙂
I’m bored at the moment..
@ The results are on the way amigo…
They are traveling from Africa via camel so we need to be a bit patient 😛
Hopefully till the end of July we will have them 🙂
How about those wiwivision results?
I love it. The song is brilliant in any language. You don’t need to understand the lyrics to appreciate the vocals & the power of the music.
If the song is beautiful and even more beautiful voices, so simple video suffices and it’s amazing ! 🙂 Simplicity is beauty and song is so strong and beautiful that it needs no great effects. Video has a pleasant atmosphere, nostalgic, touching and romantic….I <3 this song in Italian, in Spanish, also a new clip…Everything they do is outstanding, meraviglioso ! 🙂 Bravi ragazzi!! 🙂 Il Volo boys have charisma, powerful voices, great emotions in singing, wonderful songs and music….
MARAVILLOSA
Il Volo have the GreAtY factor to shine & make it big in the music industry..
Now they have become popular famous in whole Europe! <3
Their music/songs will enjoy commercial success outside Italy as well <3
I have become fan of them 4 sure <3
Italy ROCKED this year on Vienna’s Vision! <3 *Grande Amore* was amazing song <3 My 3rd most liked song among the 40 of the bunch <3 Il Volo are really fantastic & i really like them <3 Especially Gianluca & Piero <3 Ignatio is cool fine too 🙂 They would make better cooler winners than Mans if they had won instead.. Pity that although they were the big winners of televoting over Mans that was not even 2nd the juries destroyed their dream & ranked them 6th ON PURPOSE with such low amount of points of 170 that this would… Read more »
I still hate the song. I dont understand why people love it so much, it seems to me is that it is just simply another typical Italian ballad. The juries are supposed to mark best the songs with the most originality and that is why Italy only came 3rd, which is still 15 places ahead of where it should be for me.
A se me olvidaba “Herues” es numero uno en los cuarenta principales.
“dime por que cuando pienso”
Gianluca love you
Mi corazón me susurró
A mi me gusta versión muuuuuucho
