Junior Eurovision 2015 is getting closer every day and news about this year’s national selection shows is coming thick and fast. Yesterday the Belarusian broadcaster BTRC announced that Ilya Volkov and Dmitry Novik will co-host the contest in Minsk — bringing celebrity and some major Eurovision and Junior Eurovision experience to the stage.
We know Ilya as the Belarusian representative at Junior Eurovision 2013, where he earned a very deserved third place with his song “Poy So Mnoy“. One of our in-house jurors praised him this way:
…the boy does not disappoint! He firmly holds onto his high notes while spinning to a demanding dance routine. This is a solid effort. The merits of this entry stand on its own, as well as the test of time. It borrows from the cartoon heroes of the 90s, without churning out a carbon copy.
Last year he was also the co-host of the Belarusian pre-selection.
Dmitry Novik may sound unfamiliar to many Eurovision fans, but in reality you probably know a number of his songs. He’s perhaps best known for writing the crazy lyrics to TEO’s song “Cheesecake” from Eurovision 2014. Coincidentally, Dmitry takes over the role from the singer himself, as TEO hosted the gig previously.
The Belarusian Junior Eurovision national final will take place on Friday 22 August. Stay tuned!
