If you ever wanted a new screensaver, then Croatia might have you covered. We’ve been loving Nina Kraljic and her song “Lighthouse” since it was revealed a couple of weeks ago, but the song has so far been missing a music video. With the EBU requiring something from the Croatian team, they’ve finally delivered something, at least.
WATCH: Nina Kraljic – Lighthouse
It’s hard to deny there’s a huge amount of beauty in this video and there’s some really stunning shots. The time-lapse of storms around the coast do actually link in very well with the lyrics of the song too. The eponymous lighthouse itself makes an appearance too. We wouldn’t be surprised at all if this might also be part of Nina’s LED screens during her performance in Stockholm too, so it at least gives us an idea of what to expect there.
Unfortunately, this is a video for a song in the Eurovision Song Contest, not the Shipping Forecast. It really does strike you as something that was thrown together at the last minute to appease the EBU and present something. Comparing it with Nina’s music video for “Zaljuljali Smo Svijet“, for example, shows that Nina can certainly do the natural beauty theme with herself included. Colour us a little bit disappointed.
Of course, Nina and her team do seem to have something up their sleeve. A post on her Facebook states that this is a “promo video” and that another video is coming in April. In 2012, Ivi Adamou released a promo clip and then the actual video for “La La Love”, so there is a precedent.
What do you think of the video for “Lighthouse”? Are you a bit underwhelmed, or do you think the simplicity of the video lets the song shine through more? Let us know in the comments section below or through our Twitter page.
