Feel the heat! Mandinga release “Aventura” — their first single with new lead Barbara Isasi

Summer is here — and so is another Latin-infused summer tune from Romanian pop group Mandinga!

The Eurovision 2012 group has unveiled “Aventura”, their first single since they updated their lineup. To refresh your memory: lead singer Elena Ionescu left the band in March to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Barbara Isasi, Spanish singer and contestant on The Voice.

The song is, unsurprisingly, in Spanish and features further vocals from guest artist Erik. Even with a line up change, Mandinga remains Latin with a hint of R&B. You can feel the rhythm from from a mile away. Catchy and perfect for the summer, it’s classic Mandinga.

As we look to the future we would be remiss to ignore the past.

Mandinga’s last single with Elena — Eurovision’s Next Top Model 2012 — was the Romanian language “Cand va fi mai rau (asa sa ne fie)”. This song may not be high spirited like “Aventura”, but it’s certainly got that Mandinga charm we love. Special mention to rapper Shift, who features on the single, for teaching us all the word for “m*therf*ckr” in Romanian. Spoiler alert: it’s the same word.
