It’s been over three months since Sweden introduced us to the perky, pop-country diva Wiktoria — and we have been aching for more ever since! Thankfully her sophomore single “Yesterday R.I.P.” has officially dropped. We are pleased to say this diva is still working the rodeo.

Those who loved the charm of her Melodifestivalen 2016 song “Save Me” won’t be disappointed. The 19-year-old stunner stays true to her original vision, keeping the catchy country vibe that made her a huge hit with Swedish audiences and hardcore Eurovision fans alike.

Building bridges between Stockholm and Nashville, it’s the perfect fireside companion to “Save Me” — same feel, different song. It may not be surprising or different, but it’s comfortable. And during these rocky, emotional weeks of Post-Eurovision Depression, comfortable never felt so good.

WIKTORIA “YESTERDAY R.I.P.” (Lyric video)

Lyrically, Wiktoria seems to be on the road to freedom, leaving her man behind and letting him — and yesterday — live in the past.

As she sings: “Take the past and throw it away/ Yesterday was growing up/ Today I gambled all my love/ Yesterday can Rest In Peace.”

The new single may sound somewhat familiar if you partied in Stockholm during Eurovision. On the eve of the grand final Wiktoria treated fans to a rousing, live performance at the Euro AfterParty at Opera Terrassen in downtown Stockholm. She slayed her new single and “Save Me” before introducing the one and only Charlotte Perrelli.

At Melodifestivalen 2016, Wiktoria moseyed direkt till final after scoring a huge hit with “Save Me” — her catchy, countrified pop song equipped with one of the most technically-precise stagings of the National Final season.

After being floated as one of the bookies’ favorites to win it all, Wiktoria’s twangy vocals and projection-printed superhero suit earned her a respectable fourth place finish on her first go at Melfest.

“Yesterday R.I.P.” lyrics — Wiktoria

White lines, we tried, to build a love we could survive
We failed, to find equal space in the divide
I know, you know
I’m not what you’re looking for
Not anymore
Yesterday was growing up
Today I gambled all my luck
I took the risk
Oh yes I did
For you
Yesterday can Rest In Peace
I’m happy with this part of me
I’m on a road to prophecy
I’ll go, oh…
All the lights that lead the way
Take the past and throw it away
Yesterday was growing up
Today I gambled all my love
Yesterday can Rest In Peace
Ooh Yesterday x3
White lies, tongued tied
From the outside of the truth
These years, those fears
Were the burden of our youth
Now I, now you
Got something living there to do, yeah…
Yesterday was groing up
Today I gambled all my luck
I took the risk
Oh yes I did
For you
Yesterday can Rest In Peace
I’m happy with this part of me
I’m on a road to prophecy
I’ll go oh
All the lights that lead the way
Take the past and throw it away
Yesterday was growing up
Today I gambled all my love
Yesterday can Rest In Peace
Oh yesterday x3
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh
Yesterday was growing up
Today I gambled all my luck
I took the risk
Oh yes I did
For you
Yesterday can Rest In Peace
I’m happy with this part of me
I’m on a road to prophecy
I go oh
All the lights that lead the way
Take the past and throw it away
Yesterday was growing up
Today I gambled all my love
Yesterday can Rest In Peace
Oh Yesterday x3
Rest In Peace
Rest In Peace

Also, JACK GARRATT. For god’s sake. Yes, he finished last on UK’s preselection for the 2005 Junior Eurovision, but he won the Critics’ Choice at the 2016 BRIT Awards and won the BBC Sound Poll of 2016. And he doesn’t shy away from talking Eurovision.

Can I suggest doing a round-up of recent releases of national finalists like you did with previous contestants and previous winners, rather than focus on one single song from one single artist from one single country?

I’m only saying this because you guys have totally ignored Julie Bergan’s releases after 2013’s – yes, very – bland Give a Little Something Back on MGP.

But GRL IS SLAYN RN. Norway would have killed to have this as their entry this year.

In a way this reminds me of “If Love Was A Crime” (besides “Save Me”).
Good though.

@Elin Well, obviously its not for ESC, considering it was released two weeks after the ESC happened, and about three months before the September 1 rule. Besides, I think Douwe Bob getting a nice 11th place shows there’s a place for country music in Eurovision. I like her voice. Reminds me of a slightly higher-pitched Miranda Lambert. That said, not a fan of the song- the cadence of the lyrics just seems too driven for country. Doesn’t feel like a natural flow. Still, I’m interested to see what else she has, and hope she can make it back to Melidofestevalen,… Read more »

I thing she is great, but I don’t like the country sound! Isn’t this more music for the US than europé? Idon’t think this is something for ESC anyway, or?

I love her the ESC song but this is not as good to me. I prefer “”Save Me”” but I hope she will be success in Sweden charts and we see her back at the Melodifestivalen one day… 🙂

Sweden Don’t deserve her, after MF this year and the big FIASCO of Frans they deserve nothing but a kick in the assh*le.
Wiktoria is and WILL ALWAYS BE the winner of MF for me, so I hope she comes back for not for Sweden, they don’t deserve her.
LOVE YOU GURL
