One city. Three suspected gunmen. At least nine people dead. Those are the horrifying facts that have emerged from Friday evening’s shooting rampage at a Munich mall. With up to three perpetrators on the loose, police have shut down all public transport and advised residents to stay at home. Police are currently scouring the city for the gunmen and have drafted in support from Austrian police forces as they expand their search near the Austrian border.
In the hours and days ahead Germans will seek comfort in each other and, no doubt, in music. With that in mind we’ve gathered social media reaction from Eurovision stars.

@Charles @Plum
You’re so funny. I just wanted Lviv to host the contest (not longer possible unfortunately) but it doesn’t have anything to do with the article. I don’t care about Russia or anything else. You’re such normal people
@GAL
I do 🙁
Why nobody mention the latest terror attack in TLV ?? Or because its Israel so No one cares…
@Charles
What’s the purpose of your first comment? Just asking…
@cheesecake: And all those who killed all those victims in Orlando, Paris and Nice , etc were … mentally sane? Taking a religious so fundamentally seriously and believing in the more violent interpretation of it to the point that your brains stops function … deals to this. Once one replaces one’s brain with a religion, sanity vanishes … and acts like these happen. And that is infuriating.
@MirkoJoshua @beccaboo1212: Are you praying for Kiev and Lviv cause God forbid Russia doing anything to ruin the gay party in 2017? Wow … you have your priorities and condoms really on the right place absolutely. Have you ever given yourselves the thought of maybe just maybe … growing up and getting your brains fixed instead your using your nuts? Give it a try … Or at least stop acting so Kardashian-like for the sake of attention cuz 10 year olds do that better than you.
@Jr esc nl
I don’t have the answer to why he would idolise him, however if you look at the articles , the Munich chief of police confirmed there was a direct link to the Norway attack and materials about the Norweigian attack were found in his room.
@no one I totally hear what you are saying, and certainly these countries have a high quality of living (if not also an expensive one!)
@james
It was comitted by an iranian Guy… Why would he idolise breivik? He was very anti islamic
@James you’re right actually. But my plans (more like just hopes) about moving to a Nordic country is not really ONLY about safety, but for high quality of living, LGBT equality, freedom of press, etc. It was always a dream for me, and Turkey is always bad, whether there are terror attacks or not… Just a miserable life.
@No-one
I Hear you and totally agree, all these attacks are terrible and I don’t think we should compare one to another . Just saying in response to your mention of moving to a Nordic country that sadly that isn’t necessarily safer as this was supposedly influenced by the attack in Norway which was also horrific.
@James; some people don’t think it’s as horrible as others happened this year just because it’s not an Islamic attack, it’s not “terror” etc. That’s my point: it doesn’t change anything, it’s still bad and there are people affected.
@no-one
This attack as tragic and horrible as it is was “inspired” by the attack in Norway 5 years ago even occurring on the same day, so isn’t the same as other incidents occurring this year. IT was committed by one person with apparent psychological problems idolising a previous attacker in a Nordic country
Its hard to prevent individuals from doing that and it can happen anywhere in the world sadly. Thoughts and prayers with everyone affected.
@Darren
Of course that’s not a barrier for me, since Turkey is 989867458% worse.
I’m actually considering Nordic countries mostly like Sweden. Peaceful, calm, clean.
@NoOne
Please don’t let it out you off coming to Europe, there is a terrorist threat, yes, but staying away is doing what these savages want. You’re welcome to come to Europe. Come to Ireland ????
And thank you William, for posting this articles and spreading awareness. That ESC is not just a gay bubble where everything is pink, but people coming & standing together against real world issues and loving each other. Thank you.
Apparently, this isn’t a Islamic attack. WHO THE F*** CARES? There are dead people, guys. It’s still horrible.
I’m devastated and horrified. What the f*** is wrong with these people?! They want to spread fear and hate. They kill more and more each day. It’s not about Europe. It’s a global issue. Since the beginning of the year, it’s 1275th attack. 50 countries, 11780+ dead, 14300+ injured. Can you believe this numbers? I don’t wanna live in this planet anymore. I want to stop living. I’m losing my faith in humanity. I’m living and studying in Turkey, and the first thing I’m gonna do after graduating is gonna be leaving this country. But now I see even Europe… Read more »

@beccaboo1212
You are something out of my underatanding.
Praying for the world from Russia.
It’s horrible.
Just to let you know, apparently it was not an Islamistic attack – the perpetrator seemed to be mentally disturbed.

Ben Rafter, WW.III has already begun long ago.
Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time something like this happens in Germany… (love you, my home country…?)
I hope this isn’t the beginning of ww111.????
Innocent children being shot while having a burger at McDonald’s :_(
I feel like I see a wiwi article “#Prayfor(cityname)” too much now! What a terrible world
#prayforLvivtohostEurovision
This is horrible!!! When will Europe return to peace? It just seemed that overnight, we went from living in peace to a society where there is violence and death stuns every corner. It’s sickening, especially in Germany, a country that has seen is fair share of violence and hatred in its history, but overcoming it and becoming one of the most liberal, welcoming and friendly countries that I have ever visited. Thoughts with those affected tonight, let’s all stand together, once again, like we did for Paris, Istanbul, Brussels and Nice. Let’s not let these terrorists win.
