The finalists of the Swedish hit song competition Svensktoppen Nästa have been announced, and among them will be one lucky act who’ll have a place saved for them at Melodifestivalen 2017.
Svensktoppen Nästa is an annual music competition organised by Swedish radio station P4. The competition has been running since 2008 and aims to find new artists and new music.
Since 2012, Svensktoppen Nästa has also given one act a place in the follow year’s Melodifestivalen – and it’s not guaranteed to go to the winner. The Melfest entry will go to the act considered most suitable for Melodifestivalen. And because the Svensktoppen Nästa entries predate the 1 September deadline for Eurovision, the chosen artist will need to enter a new song in Melfest.

Last year’s winner was Michael Fannon with “Kommer tid, kommer råd”, but it was Smajling Swedes (later Smilo) who got the ticket to Melfest, where their song “Weight of the World” placed fifth in their semi-final, narrowly missing out on an Andra Chansen place.
P4 have revealed the eight finalists who’ll be competing in the final of Svensktoppen Nästa 2016, due to be held on Sunday 28 August as part of the Linköping town festival. But you can have your say – listen to the eight songs and vote for your favourites!

Bullsh*t Affair is so underrated in this poll :/ I hope she wins Svensktoppen Nästa
It doesn’t matter, because the elected act is going to do nothing at Melfest, failing to qualify
Thank god this is not a NF line-up.
Love “Do Your Thing”!
