Get ready for beaver! Latvia’s Supernova 2017 kicks off next Sunday, with the first of two heats taking place. 11 of the 22 acts will compete for just four spots in the semi-final. Amongst the acts competing in the first heat is Crime Sea. Amongst their members is former Supernova finalist, MNTHA!
As always in Supernova, two of the songs will be put through by public choice. The other two will be chosen by the jury once the public votes are made clear. This year the public vote is slightly different, too. Spotify streams will be counted in the votes, meaning a “chart-friendly” song may stand a better chance.
So, we want to know who your favourite is for the first heat! You can listen to all 11 acts below, then vote in our poll. The usual rules apply: you can vote for as many of the acts as you’d like. You can only vote ONCE though — so make that vote count!

Naked is the best and most original song in Supernova this year. Definitely deserves to go to ESC!

I do not like this top 10. There are more interesting songs in the second round like The Ludvig or My radiant You.
The second heat is much stronger than this. As for the songs, with no particular reason, I am obsessed with “Spiritual priest”, it’s stuck in my head. Ok, now let’s try to be objective. Apart from “Spiritual priest” I like ROCK’N’BERRIES. It’s a good song, with a catchy sound, happy and it makes you want to dance (at least me everytime I listen to it). Nah I take it back, Dynamite is actually good, it would do for the contest, but I prefer Katrina.
Markus Riva’s song is your typical radio filler that the Estonian selection is so full of, I hope the Latvians don’t choose him just because he’s the biggest star.
Edgars’ “We Are Angels” was the only one I would download.

So they seriously put Markus Riva, Laura Lo & Chris Oak, Triana Park and My Radiant You in the same semifinal.. wtf. Predicting a landslide victory for Katrina Cirule in this one.. only decent song here.
I’ve heard these songs only once, but I am quite surprised by the result.
‘Blood Runs Quicker’ seams like a standard pop song.
‘Escape’ is quite mystical and trippy, so I like it.
‘Up’ is the most repetitive song ever, even for ESC standards.
‘Magic Years’ is quite relaxing and cute.
‘Spiritual Priest’ has the worst case of good verses and weak chorus.
‘Rage Love’ is interesting, although it builds up for too long.
‘Who’s in charge’ is quite well written, although the instrumental could have been shorter.
Crime Sea and Lauris Valters are my favorite from the first heat. Good luck!
Triana Park to Kyiv. It’s the only song I really like from this year’s Supernova, there are other good songs that are easy to listen but ‘Line’ stands out.
overall, my personal faves from this heat are Crime Sea and First Question, from the second heat I like Triana Park, The Ludvig, Laura Lo and MyRadiantU
Crime Sea, Katrina Cirule, Edgars Kreilis and Franco Franco will be the ones who will qualify.
Second heat is much stronger – there are 3 definite qualifiers – Markus Riva, The Ludvig and Miks Galvanovskis, and then Toms Kalderauskis, Triana Park and Lauro Lo will fight for the 4th spot.
Tho there might be exception and Miks Galvanovskis may not qualify – if Markus and The Ludvig will get 1st and 2nd place in televoting + Spotify, and Miks gets 3rd, jury might not choose him. (or if Markus is 3rd, jury might leave him behind)
Linda Leen and Anna do it for me best. Fingers crossed for the two!!

By far the weaker heat, I only liked three of the songs. Crime Sea is the best of the bunch.
Well, the poll just allows one but actually it will be 4 winners. So even I’ve just vote for Linda Leen (it’s weird to see this type for music for Eurovision, and the lyrics seems cool), the other three would be Pikaso, Crime Sea and Franco Franco (if this one goes to Eurovision, expect A LOT of Spanish people making jokes, not only for the name of the group but the title itself).
The only thing left is the “real” one counting – the live version of the songs. Good luck to all of them.

This heat seems to be quite weak… oh no, this means that many good songs from the second heat won’t qualify for the semi-final.

Crime sea is the best and Mntha is a real contender to represent Latvia in Ukraine am from Latvia and i will be behind Crime sea.
Judging by the acts in this heat, the second heat is a lot stronger and more difficult to pick, who will go through.
