The news regarding Eurovision 2018 has been coming thick and fast in recent weeks weeks — so much so that we’ve barely had a chance to breathe and admire the various sea creatures and marine objects that make up this year’s visual identity and logo.
Rather than one logo, RTP have designed 13 in total, all based on their water theme and slogan “All Aboard!”
Organisers explained their motivation this way:
Europe is a collective of many, and this has also inspired RTP’s design team to introduce multiple logos for 2018, rather than a single image. The main logo, depicting a shell, will be used alongside 12 other versions. They are designed around the concept of the varying life in the oceans which depict the wonders of a floating world, such as plankton and a range of other organisms which are essential for balance in aquatic ecosystems. Through these multiple logos, the creative concept portrays key themes such as diversity, respect and tolerance.
The logos will be creatively adapted and have a variety of uses in the run up to the event, including being displayed all over Lisbon next May.
Now that all the initial marine-based puns are out of everyone’s system, we thought it would be a good idea to see which of the 13 logos you like the best. Are you loving the jellyfish, or do the waves float your boat? Grab your compass and let us know which way the wind is blowing with you.
Have your say in our poll below. As usual, you can vote for as many of the logo renderings as you like, but you can only vote one time. After you’ve voted, make sure to sound off in the comments section below.
Loved them1 It’s the end of dark-backgrounded logos. I can’t wait to have the pinback/badge set of Lisbon 2018.

😀 Best set of logos in YEARS! All the other logos, while good, were lacking soul and/or a purpose but these will be used with quality (which the promo video on YouTube gave a sharp example of that) and will grow into a grand aquatic adventure concept that’ll have us sailing to the new Eurovision world! Visually, of course.
HAYASTAN 2018 EUROVISION
To me they all look very poor, like ClipArt from 1999. It’s a no-no from me
the water, compass, and armillary sphere are most thematically fitting for portuguese history tbh i like them a lot
I must admit I’m starting to really, really like these logos 🙂 I wasn’t a big fan when they were announced, but the more I’m seeing, the more I’m enjoying. The possibilities in merch and animation with these logos are clearly their strength. Somehow, they now seem more special to me than the logos of the last few years. And there’s also the fun factor. I really liked the 2013’s butterflies and I really like these as well. I hope they come up with awesome animations on screen. And I hope they don’t lose this drawings + watercolour themes… And… Read more »
One word: JELLYFISH! 😀
Are you guys going to write a story about the Armenian jesc delegation trying to do a thorough investigation of the validity of the televote? I mean, I agree with them too
SEAWEED ALL THE WAY <3
Has to be the jellyfish 🙂 Wonder how we’ll see the logos in motion
you can see them wiggling a bit here!
Sea urchin and microalgae (yellow).
Why are everyone’s logos green and blue based now? So bland.
They are the colors most associated with the sea and aquatic life.
there hasn’t been a green and blue based logo in years
The worst logo in years, they all look like being drawn by some kids in the kinder garden class and then turning the drawings into photos. Even the logos from the 90’s were better than these…..
I actually think that this aspect is something that makes it memorable and cute..
Also makes them look better on merch, and more flexible. The logos work well separate, together, layered, digital, hand-painted, with any background or no background, etc. unlike in previous years.
They really look like hand-drawn, which is great. It’s simple and different, looks more natural than those high-tech symbols, where they just put stuff together in the computer.
They kinda are. I’d be surprised if the artist hired for this did the logo designs the old-school way: draw on paper, scan it digitally, then finish it up on editing; if not the new way: draw using a digital pen and tablet and then the rest.
Either way, it’s quite impressive.
Edgy. Your comment looks like it was written by a 15 year old teen, darius. Try harder.
An yours, loci looks like it was written by a spoiled 7 year old brat, you should grow up! Everyone is entitled in having an opinion, respect that!
How about you respect the team and grow up? the first comment was NOT an opinion, it was just bashing. Adults give constructive criticism, not random insults. And for you to be offended like that…well, my guess is that you, Teo, are the same person(Darius) and you forgot your email.
take your own advice and stop being a brat and grow up. Hate speech is not an opinion.
Really like the shell – glad that’s the main logo. The compass is also a nice idea, kind of like navigating Europe to Lisbon. And the jellyfish is really cool… maybe it’s a Portuguese man-of-war…???
Thanks God, the jellyfish is winning this poll! 😀
Definitely the jellyfish and the waves, although I can see why they went with the seashell.
I also love the image with all the logos in one “painting”.
Sea urchin, definetely! But I actually really like that big image in which the logos are all mixed.
Wow. Not many logos have the possibility to incorporate micro algae… I’m not entirely sure in my head I can link it to eurovision, Music, song and comming together… but you know what… respect to the microalgae.
Sea Urchin and Jellyfish are my favourites 🙂 🙂 🙂
Ewww, they all look cheap
its to chose your favourites honey…not to avalue the price/cost of the logos
George, what are you? 5? gotta love anonymous insecure people on the internet lol they’re always so edgy.
An what are you, from the Logo’s police? Questioning all the negative opinions? We are not forced to like them. Bye!
but nobody wants to hear your uneducated negative review of the logos
Oh, it’s you again, Teo, using another fake name(Mony). Your grammar gives it all away sweetheart. I’m not the logo police but random insults and bashing are not welcome. I’m not questioning negative opiniones, i’m questioning the childish bashing with no relevant criticism, it wont help anyone. And bye to you, too.

waves or jellyfish
its not a globe its a armillary sphere, Portugal´s national symbol.
I liked the urchin and the coral !
The main shell I like but I am really not a fan of the estonia 2002-esque overlapping shapes behind it. It is one of my less liked logos from past years
