She’s one of the twenty-one artists currently competing for the chance to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. And as Supernova contestant Katrine Lukins continues her campaign she has released her official video for “Running Red Lights“.
Lukins is not a new face. She already competed last year with the song “Silhouettes“, but failed to advance from Heat 2. But she won over countless new fans with her poise and power — two attributes she puts on full display here.

Written by Lukins herself, Andris Lukins and Kaspars Ansons, “Running Red Lights” is a modern mid-tempo electropop track about fighting for love even though everything seems lost. Originality might not be the main trait, but the quality is undeniably there. And Lukins’s vocal performance is nothing short of flawless, as it perfectly portrays the emotions that come with a broken heart.
As she says: “Said you’re sorry hope you mean it, ’cause there’s a thousand things we’ve lost, waking up 5 in the morning, you didn’t know what it would cost…”
The music video for “Running Red Lights” was directed by Edgars Trankalis and it stars Lukins and actor Kaspars Dumburs as a couple that decide to live their life to the fullest. The dramatic plot of the video matches the drama in Lukins’s vocal portrayal of the lyrics.
