Contrary to popular belief, we don’t live in a post-Brexit world… yet. But if everything goes to schedule, the United Kingdom and the European Union should go their separate ways on 29 March 2019.
That means 2018 will be the last time that the UK competes at Eurovision as an EU member state. So, to mark the occasion, we asked you to vote for your favourite Eurovision 2018 entry from the European Union. And the results are in.
After counting an impressive 12,618 votes, a truly fitting winner has emerged — Bulgaria’s Equinox with “Bones”. Like the EU, Equinox is a common framework of different nationalities coming together for mutual benefit. Consisting of members from Bulgaria and the US, the collective espouses the Union’s values of transcending borders.
Overall, the five-piece picked up 1,055 votes (8.36%).
Bulgaria: Equinox “Bones”
In second place, we find Spain’s young lovers Alfred & Amaia. The “Tu canción” duo attracted 1,030 votes (8.16%). No other act passed the 1,000 vote threshold.
Spain: Alfred & Amaia “Tu canción”
Next up is Finland’s Saara Aalto. More used to finishing second, the “Monsters” popstar saw 927 votes (7.35%) votes go her way. Not far behind is France’s Madame Monsieur with “Mercy”. The married couple garnered 916 votes (7.26%).
Somewhat ironically, Greece’s Yianna Terzi completes the top five. Many feel that “Oniro Mou” has been at least partly inspired by Greece’s economic woes of recent years. And, of course, the European Union played a key role in that drama. Nonetheless, Yianna managed to get 866 votes (6.86%).
Cyprus, Belgium, Portugal, Poland and Italy round out the top ten. The United Kingdom — who sparked this poll to begin with — land at 20th. Romania’s The Humans have the ignominious honour of coming last with just 178 votes (1.4%)

I’m not Greek and I actually thought that the reaction of greeks towards wiwibloggs in the other articles was a bit exaggerated, but to be honest I felt uncomfortable too when I read the ironic comment about the Greek entry in this article. There’s nothing about the lyrics that suggests that this song was inspired by the economic crisis. It’s just a love song between the people and their country. I know it might be fun for people of other countries to joke around and think like that, but it’s very disrespectful and not sensible at all. I hope the… Read more »
Why not? Equinox has the weapons to win, a lot of charisma and an effective song (although it ‘s not the best in my opinion, it ‘s offset by their huge presence on stage, and Eurovision is also a show). I like them. Good luck, Bulgaria!
Another sign of bad journalism with regard to Greece…It’s getting sad.
Awwww, so sorry that your outdated song is not first. Awwww what a drama queen you are. 🙂
Meanwhile, I’m just surprised that Wiwibloggs has a new framework… Really, it looks sleek.
Do you think of sleek as positive or negative?
I live in the UK since 1 year now , but if Bulgaria wins Eurovision , im going back home just to watch it live , this would be such an honor for that small country and about the doubters for Sofia hosting this event … just watch jesc from 2015 , they had put so much effort and money behind it and it had the-best stage from all the jesc so far , they would double that for the real contest. Bulgaria deserves to win! Cant wait to see the-best part of their performance and many think that this… Read more »
Even though the song is too much produced by the Swedish music industry, I agree that Bulgaria is showing that it really wants to win it and would probably do a good job. First time organizers are very eager to do it well, even if Bulgaria is poorer than other countries.
You just said it. Too produced under my opinion. No essence. I never got the hype for this entry really (Im talking about the entries, not about countries).
IT’s produced by a Bulgarian and the company HE founded and owns. It’s not produced by the Swedish music industry. Please don’t spread false information. Even the co-author of the song, Trey, said in an interview that this song is Borislav Milanov’s brain child. The fact that it’s of such high quality doesn’t mean that it’s Swedish…….
No Bulgarian essence, This is why he/she was saying “Swedish produced”…. not because of the quality … In terms of quality, no great lyrics, average song, no European essence, but great performers. Apart from quality, No goose bumps on me. Impersonal entry. But again, this is my opinion. If you get goose bumps by this entry, vote for it.
You are a complete fool! Don’t you know that this song was composed and produced by Symphonix International, the Vienna-based producers’ collective? They do songs for money and for anyone that want a quick fix. In this case the product is good. But it is a ready made product. Anyway Swedish people are involved
What makes it impersonal. … and loses value….
Yet another straight-up negative comment for Greece from this site and Padraig as usual. Thankfully Greece didn’t qualify once and barely did last year, so we don’t have to see him pulling his signature ‘Well, it’s Greece, so it will qualify’ -stank face-eye roll annual move. Well, hopefully.
With tears you could win this year. Eurovision needs exactly the same sound/songs every year. Song without modern sound with lots of drama and tears. I suppose the outdated song from greece will win.
Nothing new this year again.
Hi spam, this is not about ‘who wins’. Good luck to everyone. Anyone has their opinions. But for the last time, not every greek song with drama is about the financial crisis. Similarly, not every Yulia Samoylova song is about her health struggle. Netta is not quirky and fun because of her ‘looks’. Let’s just not go there. Sensationalism is fake news.
so if they win.. we will see them again togheter next year in final because they are only in this team for eurovision.. my prediction anyway is place 3-5
My first five attempts to comment using the new framework have been unsuccessful. I’m trying something different this time, and I hope it works.
It worked! Yey!
And the Edit function works too!
By far the best songs are from Spain Portugal and Grece. I hope that the ESC stays in Southern Europe as we have had enough of Nordic countries winning.
I love the new website template! It looks contemporary and has an ease of feeling while scrolling throughout the website.
This website update is beautiful, good job!
Gosh so far every poll has had so many different winners…I think it is gonna be very exciting in May because Imo the victory is far from being predictable.
@Padraig. Right before she sung the English version of “oniro mou” acapella live, Yianna talked about the song’s message, to another esc site that bothered to interview her. In her own words: “It’s a very emotional song, it was written as an imaginary dialogue between Greece and Greeks, but there’s nothing political, nothing religious, nothing economical in it. It’s just an expression, a confession of emotions from one part to the other. It could be a love song, it could be a mother talking to a child. Whatever way you want to translate it, it’s the same for me. To… Read more »
Greece has really grown on me recently. It’s so ethnic and cultural yet really catchy. I have it on repeat on Spotify. It’s my number 6. Hoping they do well.
In my opinion, Greece abscess Ireland are ridiculously underrated on this site.
Funny thing is, she has explained that the song is not about the crisis since her first interviews. I don’t know why here in wiwibloggs they still claim that it’s about that.
They have to throw shade somehow and I don’t get the reason why. They should know better that to be hateful against a country.
I’ve watched Yianna’s ”Oniro mou” acapella live, it sounds beautiful! This is actually only song this year which made me cry, lyrics are very touching and combined with beautiful music, especially with those drums in the end! Beautiful love song with pure expression of deepest emotions <3
Actually she doesn’t sounds good. This is not normal to use 4 four back vocals. It means she has a very weak voice. 😀
You again? You must be on a nervous breakdown right now. Breathe in and out slowly for some minutes. You will propably feel much better.
Did I hurt you with the truth? 😀
Bulgaria is going to win. Mark my words. I just get a winner vibe from this, even though it’s not innit my Top 10, I still expect it to win, that’s how sure I am.
My gut feeling tells me the same especially after seeing their life performance in Amsterdam.
Somewhat ironically? Are you serious? I don’t know what’s your problem with Greece but if you continue like that you’re going to lose many visitors.
Ok! I hope next year it’s your country they throw shade at. That way, you may understand what I’m saying
866 voted for Greece – 15 greeks = 851. Is it o.k for you?
OMG Romania last lol
Awesome!
They were impressive at the preview events. Hoping for staging that’s as strong as their voices.
Out of topic. Thanks for the new website! Looking cool and fresh. And the comment section looks really nice!
As the mind behind wiwibloggs can you please explain the bias against the greek entry and all those disrespectful comments?
Equinox will win this year.
I think Bulgaria doesn’t represent EU as its best. It has American singer involved..
EU is diversity.
But not British ir American
This is an excellent choice, the producer was looking for the right voices and found them!
Common framework realness!
