She’s been in the music business for 20 years. And to celebrate that milestone Eurovision 2014 star Ilse De Lange recently appeared on Dutch TV Show ‘Pauw’. Broadcast shortly after her former duet partner Waylon came 18th at Eurovision 2018, the show’s hosts pressed her for her opinion of the song and performance. In trying to avoid the question she made her thoughts very clear….
“I did watch it,” she said. “But I’m not going to say what I think of it. I get that question a lot: what do you think of the act, what do you think of the placing.”
“If I say something about that now, then I will read my words everywhere tomorrow and I’m not up for that. So, I thought about it a lot, but I’ll keep that to my friends and family. But I do have an opinion about it.”
Ilse De Lange and Waylon are still the most successful Eurovision participants for the Netherlands in recent times. After Eurovision, however, the duo decided to go their separate ways and have been developing their careers apart from each other ever since. In March Ilse released the song ‘OK’.
She also announced that she will be launching a new album in August of 2018 — the title isn’t known yet — to celebrate her 20-year anniversary in the music industry. She will also do a special show in Royal Theater Carré named ’20 years World of Hurt’. Although she admitted that she’d never had ambitions as an actress, she also managed to get a role in the series ‘Nashville‘. She will appear in six episodes as a ‘jury member of a talent show’. By the way, Russia’s national broadcaster Karusel just released the songs that will compete at the Russian final for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018. You can listen to them on SoundCloud. 🙂

I’m not an expert, but I remember William saying he has great American accent.
Good for her, Waylon is nothing but an insufferable prima donna alongside Salvador. Other types of music are allowed to exist and people are allowed to like them!
ok..and he has the right to say what is his opinion….
Yes, but he is the one shutting down the diversity that Eurovision is meant to foster by saying Netta ‘should win if Eurovision is a circus.’ Saying that the public and juries are wrong after they have both had their say is a bit childish tbh.
At least he had the balls to speak up. And by the way I still think that the songe sucks
Yes, he has a right to be an a**hole and others have the right to call him an a**hole. Nobody was calling for his arrest, I never understood those freedom of speech/he has a right comments.
You’ve made several logical leaps in your argument so I’ll pretty much leave it here. But I liked a variety of acts this year, not just ‘sugary bubble gum’ entires; not quite sure where you managed to draw these conclusions from tbh. Also, if the juries know so much about music and Wail-on’s track was so good, how come it ranked so low with them too? I’ll leave that with you. Artists know the very real risk of bombing at Eurovision, if they are so protective of their music then maybe they should think twice before entering.
She said plenty with that statement, actually. Althouh I still would like her to really say what she thinks as I’m sure it would be interesting. Also, I’m hoping for good new music from her and to also try for a second time at Eurovision. But not to participate, to aim for first place, without that awful stage director, of course. Nashville is a little to late for anyone to shine, the show is on its last legs. I really liked it, but it’s good they cancelled it the way it has progressed.
Point tanken. Now back to your grave, dear.
Let it go Wiwi, we know your opinion by now.
’20 years World of Hurt’. – says it all?!
She’s a classy woman, that’s for sure!
We all know it wasn’t good.
The live performance video was pretty good. The ‘official’ video was far cliched, desperate and calculated. The live performance was just cringe-inducing, far more than the ‘official’ video even.
She is just saying that she hates Waylon’s performance in a smart way. If she liked the song , she would have said it on TV already.
That’s a great attitude to have towards her public opinion, as it would most likely start some controversy and hate on either side and the world is better without more hate.
Juries liked it
You seam to think that juries from the eastern part of Europe are not important.
” mostly null points from important ones!” ?? Who are the important ones??
12 points are 12 points…don´t care if they come from Macedonia or Switzerland..
You know the meaning of the word “literally”?
