She’s the Austrian beauty who came close to singing for San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. And while that didn’t work out, Sara de Blue continues to werk it out as she keeps the dream of singing at Eurovision alive.
In recent days we’ve seen a handful of fans using the hashtag #saradeblueforaustria2019 on social media, which naturally got us thinking about Miss de Blue and her potential bid for Eurovision 2019, which will be held in Israel after Netta’s win in Lisbon.
So is the Austrian gothic princess making an effort to get there? We gave her a call and she was kind enough to let us know that she’s been working hard on a few songs over the past few months. And while she can’t give away too much — she knows you have to save a little sum-sum for the moment — she did tease one particular gem. She says she has a tune that is the “bad sister” of her 1 in 360 song “Out of the Twilight”. Colour us excited!
The behind-the-scenes work is starting to leak into the public eye. Saara recently published some truly artistic photos that remind us just how camera-ready she is.
There’s a heavenly quality to the photos. With her dress billowing and her other-worldly looks on point, she could easily be mistaken for a Nepalese goddess or Hindu deity. But look closer — at the attitude, the beauty, the poise — and you’ll know this is the 1 in 360 veteran in disguise.
Take to the skies my queen…
But she ain’t in the Himalayas. Saara tells us that these images come from the filming of a music video shot in the Austrian Alps.
Behind her you can see the Grossglockner — Austria’s highest mountain. It’s the perfect setting for an ambitious young singer who is ready to scale new heights.
In our interview with her during the preliminary phase of the 1 in 360 voting, Sara revealed her life-long passion for Eurovision. That resonated with our readers, who stayed with her through the competition and even after she was (in the eyes of many) robbed of victory.
In our readers’ poll, Sara’s “Out of the Twilight” won with 2,441 votes — or a massive 27% of the total votes cast.
More recently Sara finished as second favourite in our unofficial OGAE Second Chance Contest poll — just 95 votes behind the fiery duo Ana Guerra & Aitana.
Polls and a scour of social media remind us that she’s got the support of Eurovision fans. Now it’s just a matter of Austria recognising this major talent they’ve got at home and under their nose. Is 2019 her year? Let us know down below…
Please please Austria send Sara to Eurovision 2020
In my opinion Sara de Blue would be the prime pick of ORF. I think her talent, plans and zeal for Eurovision make Sara the most reliable choice. Austria can stride ahead confidently with her for ESC2019.
Trust me, I‘m Austrian and to be honest, I have never heard such a great voice like Sara‘s. It would be a pleasure for her to represent Austria in Israel. I wish her the best of luck!!
She could actually represent Liechtenstein so we see ’em debuting this year.
Oh please send her in 2019! I want to watch her live!
Voice of Sara de Blue is unique and perfectly musical. She is an excellent lyricist and always comes up with amazing songs. Every musical note sung by her becomes notable and touchable to heart. That’s why her fan base is huge and multi-national. I am sure that her entry into Eurovision 2019 would be the best bid by Austria !
Amazing! Sara is the best!!!
WOW she’s channeling MAJOR Queen Gedren vibes from “Red Sonja” and I am TOTALLY HERE FOR IT…

Sara de Blue: the Queen of Eurovision. <3
Sara is the best!
Lg ppp
I’m gonna have to boot the blue ensemble. Way too costumey. Sara is still a fierce performer though! Hope to see her in Eurovision someday.
I feel like Austria really should pick her if the song she produced is excellent. The staging Austria produces every year is always excellent so I feel like she would be elevated.
