Germany is wasting no time, as their workshop in Cologne continued over the weekend. And with the first three acts announced earlier, more candidates have been revealed by the broadcaster as the line-up slowly unfolds.

Three further names are joining the currently known acts which include BB Thomaz, Sebastian Schub and Nicole Cross.

On Saturday, Nina Kutschera was introduced as the fourth participant. The singer-songwriter rose to fame when she made it to the live shows during the first season of The Voice of Germany. Since then, she has performed in multiple genres. So at this stage, it’s hard to guess what style her potential national final song will be.

With the next two names, NDR once again shows its love for casting show contestants. Dimi Rompos and Daniel Schumacher were also revealed to be taking part in the workshop programme.

Dimi Rompos competed in The Voice of Germany and has released songs both in English and German. In a behind the scenes interview, Dimi says that she thinks that her rap and R&B influences could create something memorable. On the other hand, Daniel Schuhmacher brings a big portfolio to the table. Having released several albums, he’s had a respectable career so far. And now, it seems like the long-time Eurovision fan (personal favorite entry is Euphoria!) is ready for the world’s biggest competition.

Back in August, the Eurovision fan jury reviewed the shortlisted 198 acts. Following hours of rating singers and their respective work, 20 acts received an invitation to attend the workshop.

The selection process is structured the same as last year. During the next couple of days, the candidates will record short performance clips to show their character, their tone, as well as their prefered genre of music.

The recorded videos will then be shown to the fan jury and the 20 international experts. These groups will determine the national final competitors. Earlier this year, NDR entertainment director Thomas Schreiber revealed that there may be up to ten acts in the final show.

The national final will once again be hosted by Barbara Schöneberger, whose return was revealed earlier this month. While there is no date announced just yet, the German head of delegation Christoph Pellander did say that it would “take place sometime in the last two weeks of February”.

What I really wonder is, if you, Florian, are reading our German Prinz-Blog, because we have the exact same series there and as a German Eurovision fan you are likely to read our blog, aren’t you? 🙂

2 singers from a talent show…not the best of scenerios, as here in the UK, singers from talent shows that try and represent us (or have) end up towards the bottom of the scoreboard (apart from Lucie)

I hope Germany has the good sense NOT to pick a Dieter Bohlen discard. Seriously, don’t turn sour again, you literally just got your act together.

Will it be a song better than “You let me walk alone”? I hope Germany will not have the fate of Portugal or Bulgaria, after success to be disappointment.
