The Melfest rumour mill spun wildly for months. But, as of 26 November, we now know the 28 acts who will compete to represent Sweden at Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam.
The 60th edition of the Swedish music extravaganza begins on 1 February. And while SVT didn’t get all of its wishes, there’s still plenty of names to get excited about.
Former winners Anna Bergendahl and Robin Bengtsson are making a return, both for a third time. The backing vocalists for 2019’s winner The Mamas will also be performing their own song.
Former runners-up Felix Sandman and Méndez are hoping to go one better. And stars from the last edition Malou Prytz, Hanna Ferm, Mohombi and Anis Don Demina are back for more.
Some notable hitmakers debuting in in 2020 include Jakob Karlberg, who went four-times platinum in 2015 with his song “Fan va bra”, and sixteen-year-old Suzi P.
Snoop Dogg collaborator Paul Rey and popular dansband Drängarna are also venturing inside the Mello bubble for the first time.
On the flip side, we also have many Melfest legends in the lineup. Mariette and Sonja Aldén are making their fourth appearances — the former never failed to win her semi-final.
Linda Bengtzing competes for the seventh time. She’s bested, however, by Nanne Grönvall on attempt number eight. Nanne won in 1996 as part of One More Time. She also happens to be part of Jakob Karlberg’s songwriting team this year. We love them all.
The songs are of course will be heard in full for the first time on the Melodifestivalen stage, but these names alone are enough to get the Melfest juices flowing. Let us know which name has got you the most excited for spring next year, and then get the talk going in the comments section. You can vote for as many acts as you’d like, but you can only vote one time.

Poll: Which Melodifestivalen 2020 act are you most excited for?
Poll closed.
Hope Felix Sandman or Hanna Ferm, will win!!
There will be a lot of women in Eurovision 2020, i guess
1. Felix Sandman
2. Mariette
3. Hanna Ferm
4. Paul Rey
5. Mohombi
It is going to be Paul Rey !
Paul Rey is the one to watch this year in my opinion.
Ir its not Mariette i’m going ti give up on Sweden
I look forward to all, actually! It’s always exciting, and part of the fun is having lesser known artists you get to know. That said I think Sandman has the upper hand based on previous entries and patterns
Felix Sandman, Dotter, Robin Bengsston, Mariette and Mohombi, in that order. hoping for a surprise from the others too!
mostly dotter, i’m curious to see how she’s going to redeem herself from the unexpected and undeserved flop
I can assure you guys that Mariette won’t win melodifestivalen. Finals? Sure but best believe she’s gonna end up on the lower side of the scoreboard
She end in Melo 3,4,5 place i think – now it will be 6 ?? And i don’t think her song will be better than her song from 2015 ….
Her song from 2015 was her best and she’s just gone downhill after that. She’s not as liked here in Sweden as she is in the rest of europe tho
can you tell me why she’s not liked in Sweden? 🙁 I can’t understand that 🙁
Well because in each melfest final she has been in, she has gotten 5th, 5th and 9th in the televotes. Even fuldans got better televotes than her last year. Nobody really listens to her songs either and most of the swedes only recognize her from her dreads and won’t recognize a single song she has.
Also, her songs kinda suck
i think her problem is that she presents herself as edgier than she actually is. her music is as basic as it gets
Well she’s a woman and generic looking men with basic songs usually win Melfest
Like Anna Bergendahl, Loreen, Sanna, Afrodite, Friends, Carola, Malena, ….
You know, MF was not created just four years ago.
Honestly, I am looking forward to everyone! MF is always exciting! Without hearing the songs, I can say that Felix Sandman. Mohombi and Malou Prytz have the upper hand based on recent voting patterns. In recent years, Robin, Benjamin and John all competed a year before and qualified to the finals. MF seems to like performers who are new and fresh, yet at least half veterans from a year or two before. Victor Crone and Anna Bergendahl both had amazing songs last year, so let’s see how that translates now. I am also really looking forward to Robin Bengtsson with… Read more »
haha me to but melfest is my favourite show in Sweden so:)
Felix “boys with emotions” sandman can’t compare to this:
https://youtu.be/8j6kDwozHqk
Felix Hanna and Victor
No matter the result, Malou Prytz will be snatching wigs across Europe
i hope y’all stan that girl ironically….
She has attitude in a good way and isn’t half bad at singing. She stayed in note really well during her performances last year and considering she was only 15 at the time, that is a very good sign for the future.
I’m hoping she slays again this year.
kii. she’s a lifeless vocalist/performer and cites anne-marie n dua lipa as her music influences. enough said
I’m excited for:
Mariette
Anna Bergendahl
Felix Sandman
Robin Bengtsson
Victor Crone
Dotter
Malou Prytz
Hanna Ferm
Paul Rey
Amanda Aasa
Klara Hammarström
William Strid
and
Jakob Karlberg
Nanne.
C’mon Mariette, it’s your year!
