Croatia’s Eurovision 2020 singer Damir Kedzo has tested positive for Covid-19. The Croatian star made the announcement across his social media channels on Tuesday.

“My dears, I have to share with you that I am positive for Covid-19,” he wrote on Instagram. “I am at home, I am in isolation and I feel good.”

“For the next 14 days we will communicate online and wait for all of this to pass. Be careful, wear masks, take your temperature and if you doubt anything, contact your doctor.”

Damir Kedzo reveals positive Covid-19 test result

Damir’s many followers and fellow musicians have thanked him on social media for his openness and call to remain vigilant as the pandemic drags on.

On Tuesday, Croatia reported a daily rise of 287 new Covid-19 infections. That brings the number of active cases in the country to 1,588. Of these, 334 people are in hospital and 24 are on breathing machines. In the past day, four people have passed away.

It is important to note that the majority of cases are mild and that most people do in fact recover from the illness. According to the Johns Hopkins University in the United States, more than 16,000 people in Croatia have recovered from Covid-19.

Damir is not the only star from the world of Eurovision to have tested positive for coronavirus. Others include Australia Decides finalist Jaguar Jonze and Germany’s Eurovision 2013 singer Natalie Horler of Cascada. Both have made a full recovery.

Thankfully, Damir will not spend isolation alone. About a year ago, Damir welcomed Gigi the Jack Russell terrier into his life. She often features on his Instagram.

In one post, Kedzo explained that, “Having a dog was one of the best decisions in my life”. We are sure during these tough times of self-isolation, they give each other good company and are the best of friends. You can meet her — and see a bit of Damir’s apartment — in our Q&A session below.

We are sending Damir so much love! Please do the same in the comments box below!

I wish him a very quick recovery! I love how he hasn’t just hidden the
fact he has COV-ID 19 and is informing others about it. Good man he is.

Glad he’s using his diagnosis to educate others, something that the so called leader of the free world won’t do. Hope he recovers without any complications,

Flashbacks to Iceland’s spokesperson giving the Netherlands 12 points while holding a puppy in 2016…and then Douwe Bob bringing his own pooch the year after. Now if only Portugal’s spokesperson in 2018 played it forward.

Oh, not him as well! Severina just recovered from it. I really hope he’ll be fine. Take care, Damir. But while the virus isn’t in it’s peek in Croatia, the situation is still far from good. The main issue being ordinary people who are starting to become conspiracy theorists more and more. About half of people in stores and public spaces wear their masks only over their mouths, but not noses. I can’t tell is it because they aren’t aware of how the virus transmits or they just don’t care. And yeah, there are these marches called ”Marches for freedom”… Read more »

Thankfully, she recovered well. She actually never had big symptoms, but it was still very unpleasant. As it is now with Damir, even though he looks good on this video. I wish him all the best. I hear he’s really a good guy IRL.

That’s terrible. Hope the smart Croatians outnumber the ignorant ones.

That’s disappointing of Tony Cetinski. I think that many of these idiot “protesters” are pre-existing right-wing libertarian morons who are just using Covid to promote their cause. Some good people have been fooled into joining in. Sad!

Pretty much sums it up. People afraid of government control, microchips and all that rubbish. At least in Croatia, it’s not *only* right-wing nutjubs. As our government is right-wing, there are also some left-wingers being anti-vaccine and anti-science. It’s overall nuts.

You’re embarrassed? Just watch how we Israelis destroy ourselves here…
Thousands of new cases every day in a country of less than 10M people…
The future is far from being bright here in terms of Covid-19 🙁

We get about 250-300 new ones every day and it’s under 4 million of us. I guess there are ignorant people all around the world. Sending my best wishes to Israel. May we get over this sooner rather than later.

Same to you, and we will get over this!
Our peak here was about 9000 new cases on a single day! And Israel’s population is about 9M people…
Literally thousands of new cases each day here
There are some radicals here who are trying to purposely get infected…..
