Of the 39 acts competing in Eurovision 2021, only nine are groups or duos. But for what they lack in quantity, they certainly make up for in quality.
Daði og Gagnamagnið, The Roop, Go_A, Hooverphonic and Hurricane all return to Eurovision 2021 following the cancellation of last year’s contest. Meanwhile, Fyr og Flamme, Blind Channel, The Black Mamba and Måneskin all make their Eurovision debuts as newly selected acts for the 2021 season.
Ahead of the return of the song contest in May, we asked our readers to vote for their favourite group or duo competing in Eurovision 2021. And now, the results are in!
Lithuania’s The Roop are your favourite group or duo of Eurovision 2021
We counted a total of 5,780 votes. And for the second year in a row, Lithuania’s The Roop takes home the trophy in our groups and duos poll. One of the favourites to win Eurovision 2020, the “On Fire” singers returned to compete in Pabandom iš naujo 2021 and subsequently earned their right to fly the Lithuanian flag in Rotterdam once again — this time with “Discoteque”. In our poll, Vaidotas, Robertas and Mantas picked up 1,042 votes — that’s 18.03% of all votes cast.
A close second place is Italy’s Måneskin. With their song “Zitti E Buoni”, the Sanremo champions picked up 983 votes. That’s 17.01% of the total vote.
The bronze medal goes to Finland’s Blind Channel. Also song contest newcomers, the “Dark Side” singers won Finland’s Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu by a landslide. In our poll, the six-piece band earned 824 votes — 14.26% of all votes counted.
In fourth place is Iceland’s Daði og Gagnamagnið, who took the silver medal in last year’s poll. Rounding out the top five is Serbia’s Hurricane, who move down one position from fourth place last year.
This year marks a decade since the last time a group or duo lifted the Eurovision trophy. In 2011, Ell and Nikki took the crystal microphone back home to Azerbaijan — scoring the nation its first song contest win. Could another group victory be on the horizon?

Why do I have this feeling its gonna “flop” just like this group from Bulgaria a few years ago?
Wow and I hope it does. When singers can’t sing they try to impress by trying to be unique and ending up by looking weird or demented.
The acoustic version of The Roop is great, the voice is awesome. I don’t understand how you can say he can’t sing. This is really very strange. His voice detects me much more than Destiny.
His voice is better than Destiny’s (and for that matter some other singers’ in the competition as well)? I really would like him trying to reach some of the high notes Destiny can manage to belt out faultlessly. Now I have really heard it all!!!!
Yes! Worthy winner. And very good top 3 in general.
Kinda hoping for a group winner this yr
Rooting for all of these songs! 7 masterpieces and 2 enjoyable guilty pleasures…
I like Italy more, but Lithuania is deserving too. All of top 3 are deserving.
The Groups are all good the only one I dislike is Denmark and portugal and even then its they are not bad
Denmark is great entry this year and will be a big surprise for a lot if people.
All of the groups this year are quite good, not a single one I wouldn’t like at all!
The Roop was my 4th favorite song of ESC 2020 and my 5th favorite this year. However, they were my favorite group song last year and this year! I’d be happy if they won.
