semi-final one eurovision 2022 acts

The countdown is well underway. In a matter of weeks, we’ll be enveloped in an ocean of bright lights, glitter and pyro as the first semi-final of Eurovision 2022 gets underway. But before the show begins, there is one all-important question that needs to be answered – who should qualify from the first semi-final of Eurovision 2022.

Eurovision 2022: Semi-final one line-up

The 17 act semi starts with the fierce ethnic pop of Albania’s Ronela Hajati and concludes with the mellower folk sounds of Armenia’s Rosa Linn. In between, we have emotional male ballads, wacky vegan anthems and eccentric extraterrestrial pop. However, only ten of the 17 will make it out of the 10 May semi-final and into the grand final.

Running Order

  1. Albania: Ronela Hajati “Sekret”
  2. Latvia: Citi Zēni “Eat Your Salad”
  3. Lithuania: Monika Liu “Sentimentai”
  4. Switzerland: Marius Bear “Boys Do Cry”
  5. Slovenia: LPS “Disko”
  6. Ukraine: Kalush Orchestra “Stefania”
  7. Bulgaria: Intelligent Music Project “Intention”
  8. Netherlands S10 “De diepte”
  9. Moldova: Zdob și Zdub and Frații Advahov “Trenulețul”
  10. Portugal: Maro “Saudade, saudade”
  11. Croatia: Mia Dimšić “Guilty Pleasure”
  12. Denmark: Reddi “The Show”
  13. Austria: Lumix feat. Pia Maria “Halo”
  14. Iceland: Systur “Með hækkandi sól”
  15. Greece: Amanda Georgiadi Tenfjord “Die Together”
  16. Norway: Subwoolfer “Give That Wolf a Banana”
  17. Armenia: Rosa Linn “Snap”

Precisely who will qualify is anyone’s guess. But who do you want to see make it? You can listen to each of this year’s first semi-final contestants in the clip below. Then vote for your favourites in our poll. You can vote for up to 10 entries, but you can only vote ONE time, so make it count.

This poll closes, just ahead of the first rehearsals in May. It’s up to you, Europe. Start voting now!

Who should win semi-final one of Eurovision 2022?

Who did you vote for? Who will win? Who should win? Let us know below.

Moldova I’m on the fence about; Albania coincidentally reminds me of last year’s Latvia and Croatia, which fans overhyped and then went *surprised pikachu face* when they didn’t QF.
I don’t like Latvia but chose it because Lithuania and a bunch of Nordic countries are voting, also it might achieve some meme status by the time esc comes. And Croatia is just nice to listen to.

I just need Portugal, Denmark and The Netherlands in the Grand Final.

Additionally, I’d take Albania, Armenia, Austria, Greece and Norway.

And I’d be fine if Ukraine and Swotzerland take the last two spots.

Ukraine’s band leader is right to put the vocalist in a trash bag. The guy was grabbing too much attention. The pictures of him were used in various news articles and video thumbnails, so the leader started to feel frustrated, because people were thinking that the vocalist was the main band member and the front figure. Now he is covered with a trash bag and stays at the back of the stage, with even his face being hidden. He has been put in the “right” place. Just because he sings the chorus and plays the instrument doesn’t mean he should… Read more »

Easily the jury winner will be either Netherlands or Greece. And the public vote will be won by Norway or Ukraine. Though, I feel that juries will keep Norway very down and the public vote will not support Netherlands as much as they should. Would say the same thing for Greece, but in this semi there are at least 4 countries who can give them 12 points very easily, without even including Norway, which already gives some “advantage”. So, it is between Ukraine (most likely to win it) and Greece imo. Then, we will see very safely in the final… Read more »

I think Ukraine will win, and the Netherlands will come second. I also think the most underrated songs are all in this semi: Lithuania will qualify will ease, and I sincerely hope Croatia and Slovenia will also make it. Conversely, I find Albania the most overrated song of the bunch, but they have been proving me wrong for the last 2 editions- I did not expect Jolida or Anxhela to make it either, but they did. Not at all. It’s not a pop song and many of the possible winners (Sweden, Poland, Norway) have no cultural representation at all. Did the winners of 2018 and 2019 have any cultural representation in your opinion? Don’t be ridiculous. The only song that won for Greece was by a singer living in Sweden and singing in English.

You can’t really compare Greece with some Western country like Netherlands that is much more influenced by globalism than some Balkan country. Greece had created some identity at ESC and now we can’t even identify them. I don’t say that countries shouldn’t be risky and send different types of songs, but I just say that Greece shouldn’t expect to do well with these types of songs that Greeks themselves can’t relate to.

Technically, you are right, Jonas. Ten entries equally ”win” the semi, and there have been instances where someone would come second in the semi, and then won the finals afterwards. We do get the ”winner of the semi” revealed later on, and it has its merits, but in the end, the final result of the qualifying entry is the one that sticks the most.

Six of the entries in this semi (Portugal, Netherlands, Albania, Greece, Ukraine and Austria) are in my top 8 so I can’t wait to see this one unfold. I think the rehearsals will prove who will make the finals, I currently see anyone except Bulgaria and Slovenia making it if their perofrmaces are charismatic enough, including Denmark.
