Lithuania has already selected half of the finalists for Eurovizija.LT 2024. But there’s still more spaces available, and this week the country continued its pre-selection with Heat Four of the competition.

Only two of the eight new hopefuls could qualify for the grand final on February 17 in Švyturio Arena, Klaipėda. In the end, these were Il Senso and Monika Marija.

The show, as per usual, was presented by Gabrielė Martirosian and Nombeko Augustė Khotseng. TikToker Nerijus Trilikauskas interviewed artists after their performances.

Heat Four offers a list of quite familiar names to Eurovision fans who have been following Lithuania’s pre-selections for a few years. Monika Marija is set to make her return after previously finishing second, third, and fourth on three different Lithuanian pre-selections. Vilija is making another return to the LRT studio after she represented Lithuania at Eurovision back in 2014, with her self-penned song “Attention. Operatic group Il Senso are back too — they qualified through the heats and semi-final of Pabadom iš Naujo 2023 and finished 10th in the final.

“Cringe”, “bad”, “better last year”… Funny how the Eurofan community is completely lost when they hear something else than pop or mainstream music. Time is a great music by real professionals, pure and different from some cheap and bland pop songs like so many in national selections. The instrumental part need a revamp but still deserved its result. Too good for Eurovision… It’s okay to not like it but really, who are you to say that it’s a bad music, like do you have any musical culture at least ? Please, learn what music is by listening others genres than… Read more »

Il Senso ?!?!?! Seriously what a cringe performance! How could the jury support this? So bad…actually my last place on this semi…

Monika Marija perfect vocals and amazing staging, but still so dull of a song, but I understand why it qualified- very professional! Kasparas definitely should have qualified instead of that poperatic crap.

Ooo this was quite a strong heat. Bravo to all.

Monika Marija is my favourite singer from Lithuania; she has such a beautiful emotive tone and pitch perfect clarity. She must represent the country one day, surely.

Il Senso “Time” – That’s quite a gripping song, and it’s one to watch out for. I’m reminded a little bit Armenia 2015 (“Genealogy”) with that kind of dramatic choral/operatic sound.

I really like Monika. It’s a nice song with a punch and I think it will get votes at ESC.

Il Senso had a better song last year in Sparnai

I really wanted Martin through here, whoever she was (it doesn’t seem like a bit you can make a career out of, though). Monika not a surprise. Il Senso with the fishy televote landslide in the semi again.

This was a good heat. Three songs that didnt make it that should have.

It does seem better than the previous two heats.

I would have qualified three or four songs here included Martin.

Just checked out Jigsaw by Martin and it’s a REALLY good song. How did it not qualify?

Yes, this!!! Jigsaw was the best performance I watched today! Such a shame.

I have a feeling the Eurovision fandom would have loved it or hyped it up. Certainly a different kind of song that would have stood out in May!

I wished they would have released it earlier… I think the music video only went up Thursday and the track isn’t on Spotify. It could have used some time to build up some hype.

Il Senso 1st and MM 2nd. I’m sorry but the results keep shocking. Il Senso over 3K votes when MM got less than 1K? Another successful year for sim card sellers. There’s no way Il Senso was thrice the best tonight for the audience.

Il Senso and Monika Marija is a fair result. Glad the crazy decisions were left in the last semi

To conclude, it was definitely a better semifinal in terms of both, staging and song-quality wise. However, there’s yet to beat the first semifinal. Tonight I’d go with Monika Marija and either Marin or Agne. The Night of Women, let’s say.

Really… Are they buying staging ideas from Temu, Aliexpress or Ebay? Martin sounded almost perfectly live, but the staging needs to improve massively (hopefully in Final).

Props to marin for committing to the bit with the sad cardboard box thing. If nothing else that is iconic

Ok, Daniele dissapointed me. Was she even trying? Now I’m worried Marin won’t deliver the staging either. Standing tall with nothing but clown pants is a choice I won’t vote for.

I didn’t like Vilija’s performance at all. The song is too generic and written on kitschy phrases, while the visuals remind me of morning excercise. Was she inspired by dj nevykele? One of the worst acts tonight.

TBH, it’s the only song from this show I’m playing on repeat and it gets better with every listen 😀 The lyrics ain’t genius, but the chorus reminds me of Future Islands and has a pleasant, soothing effect.

MM was brilliant in telling the story, loved it! I think the song is missing a strong culmination though. It’s sad to see Monika Marija having Adele-type voice being wasted for flat songs. Girl, you can become wordwide famous with power ballads. Unless your dreams are restricted to some hundreds, you need to take a grip now.

Kasparas: “how to say you’re gay without saying you’re gay”. Again, I don’t like flamboyantism for performances, but the I like the LEDs and the song was decent. Not spectacular by any means, but I wouldn’t turn it off if played on the radio.

That’s not my point. I have nothing against him being gay since homosexuality is not a choice. I was referring to the fact his performance was more about him showing off his sexuality rather than trying to explain or to expand the song.

Calm down, he is not gay 🙂 BTW, his long time girl partner was on stage together, and she was co-author of the song 🙂

Il Senso looked very appealing from the visual part, but I really didn’t match with men solo parts. I’m not qualified to say they’re not mean to sing, but their parts sounded forced to me.

Agne surprised in a good way, but I think the whole package was missing something for it to advance for Final.

Here we go. Prior to the performances, my hopes are for Monika Marija and either Martin or Daniele. We will see how it goes live!
