You can choose as many acts as you want. But you’ll only be able to cast your votes once.
Who did you vote for? Are you looking forward to Friday night? Let us know in the comments below.
Oh Boy is made for TV. You will see 😉
Germany will have a difficult time avoiding the last place whatever they send.
I can’t understand these big countries, some of the smaller countries are making their national selections professionally and bringing quality, these look like a highschool competition.
I think the overproduction of Oh Boy is losing me.
Understand and hear the intention.
Hope that emotion comes real ive on stage.
live, my bad eyes left a L
Ryk is nice, but his song sounds very similar to what James Blake did over 10 years ago. Listen to Retrograde – it’s a bit too similar in sound design and songwriting for me.
”Oh boy” is great, it could be seriously impactful with great staging. Ryk could be Germany’s answer to Duncan Laurance, the song isn’t good enough to win Eurovision though.
”Tears like Rain” is also a great choice too. Bodine can SING, her live performance is amazing. I could definitely see this being a refreshing and easy-to-digest country song amongst a crowd of loud and crazy acts. Sometimes simplicity is good and rewarding!
I’m not a fan of any if these songs here but we have no choose one anyway.
I’d go for Katze for it’s originality or for Isaak because I think he must sing very well live.
Ryk «Oh boy» is like Duncan Laurence meets gospel, nothing really new or exciting.
The rest I already forgot.
All of these scream bottom 5
For me the best song is Ryk with Oh Boy, but Bodine blew me away with her live performance in a Dutch talkshow. Really good and with this performance in Malmo she can end up high in the jury vote!
Enjoy guys! https://youtu.be/Zw0I9Xog1nA?si=arwfj5T76W8xyLIz
I love “Tears like rain” but I’m afraid it could end up like “Black smoke” :/
I feel it won’t
Hope, RYK will do it. Please, neighbours, vote for Ryk! Oh boy, my 12 points from Austria will go to Ryk. Instant goosebumps from the begin.
Ryk’s song is a gem that could get Germany a top10 finish but I don’t expect them to see that potential. They’ll probably go with the bright Marie Heim who is what they think about when they hear the word « Eurovision », and who will get lost among all the other female uptempo in May.
Its Bodine Monet for me, her live voice is actually amazing, making the song better live than than studio.
I don’t have much to say about this national final unfortunately. None of the songs grabbed my attention in the first listen and that’s worrying. Ryk’s “Oh boy” sounded nice around the 3rd-4th time I heard it but it took some time to get there. Sending a schlager song like “Naiv” would be a risky choice, especially given that it’s not the best of the kind, but it might be worth it taking the risk and I think that’s what I’m gonna vote for on Friday. I will wait for the live performances anyway to make my mind in any… Read more »
I don’t think any of these songs would get Germany out of the bottom 5
William, Deban, I adore you but that vid you did on the German selection is so disrespectful to the artists :/ listening to songs with one airpod while talking/joking/singing other songs at the same time then switching when you feel it’s « too long » … i know you don’t have time to listen to everything properly but please respect the artists and their work
It’s brutal, but at least it’s genuine!
Don’t be such a pussy! Nothing was ‘disrespectful’.
Your choice of words is definetly disrespectful.
Being downgraded for pointing out that p….. is a disrespectful word??
They always do it like that. And maybe they will take the German selection more seriously when Germany does it first.
Tbh Bodine or Ryk have good entries and shouldn’t be taken as « jokes »
Oh boy, how I wish we vote for the right choice for once! Unser Ryk für Malmö!
I think it should be Marie Reim – she can bring schlager into the big stage which is very much more needed. Fingers crossed!
Keiino was already enough schlager for me. No, thanks!
I love Katze sounds, I can’t stop playing on loop
Ryk has a beautiful song. With some clever staging, it could be elevated to a point of it being a top 10 contender. It’s all about the emotion here, and how it connects with the audiences. Bodine, Isaac, Marie, and Leona are also good alternatives. Tears like Rain’s chorus is an earworm (even if it does repeat a lot). Naiv could get some decent televote as it would feel really refreshing for Germany to go with a fun song in German. Leona might be a sleeper hit or just sleepy, also depending on staging and her live charisma. The lyrics… Read more »
I feel like Ryk may have a strong voice live and if they can get the staging right…it could do incredibly well at the final. I think even Top 5
Don’t expect a good staging. Germany usually doesn’t want to spend any thoughts or money on that.
Ryk has a gorgeous song-wow! Hopefully vocals won’t disappoint..
I’d like something in german… maybe Katze is too joky, so why not NAIV ? But I think the 2 strongest possibilities would be 99 or Ryk
Ryk or the usual place, es tut mir leid.
ROMÂNIA LOVE SVEDEN BETER
I didn’t think it was a bad selection of songs. I expected worse songs based on the reviews. No winner, but as I haven’t had a strong year so far, I think it’s in line with the competition’s average. My concern is whether they can repeat the same vocal quality as the studio cut. Also bad staging can kill a good vocalist/a good song. In any case, trying to predict anything now is futurology. I would like to see Ryk represent Germany, but I would be happy with some other candidates as well. In any case, I hope that the… Read more »
I’m biased as a Norwegian, but I really “Undream You.” The bias being that it’s an Elsie Bay (co-written) song, and it’s everything that I love about her music in a sweeter, almost more cozy package than usual. I think a sweet song like that can do really well, Portugal 2017 anyone? But I don’t expect it to win this year. Oh well. I hope Elsie gets to go to ESC one day <3
Really love* “Undream You”, lol. I wish Wiwi let you delete or edit comments.
Chipi chipa chapa chapa dubidubi daba daba mágico mi dubidubi boom, boom, boom, boom.
Chipi chipa chapa chapa dubidubi dabadaba mágico mi dubidubi boom.
NAIV is the only one I could actually listen from the beginning to the end. The rest of them are below average. However, I strongly believe Germany will once again finish on the last place in the grand final, undortunately… Maybe it’s time for them to revamp their national selection, just like Spain or France in the last 3 years…
Guys, off topic! I need some help with finding a song from a national final a few years ago. It did not win but it ended up high. I feel like it was a Nordic country. The stage looked amazing, pink/purple (If I remember correctly) with a spaceship and literally had backing vocals hang out of the spaceship upside down at one moment singing their bit. Song was fun and catchy (ironically I can’t remember it now). I could really use some help to find it. So if you recognize it, please, share it with me. I need to hear… Read more »
Finland UMK 2021, Teflon Brothers?
Thank you so much, Jonas! That’s the one! I am enjoying it now thanks to you. You made my day.
Off topic: San Marino should win Eurovision with The Last Polar Bear. Such a cute song. Don’t tell me AI created it because its lyrics are literally less bad than many other songs this year. I blame the lazy people songwriters. The singer is apparently a former girlfriend of Mick Jagger. I like her.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAxzHr66HhA
From Mick Jagger and David Bowie to San Marino AI hoping for a spot in the actual NF. Fascinating!
My heart breaks for that poor polar bear. Still, nobody listened to little Finnish Peter in 2011, why would they listen to Dana? Plus… we’ve already had two Danas win the contest.
I wonder what happened to Peter.
I liked the singer but dadadam was a meh song. I dunno, this one really speaks to me. I like polar bears and her voice is so refined.
Well this Dana has a good voice. The other two didn’t win because their voices were so good.
We’re about to have a third
That really does not narrow it down (former girlfriend of Mick Jagger).
AI did create the original concept – this however went through hands of people who know what to do and was made into a proper song. The feelings and sadness in the singers voice then reach for your heartstrings. A little cringy? Yeah, but worth being in the selection. Can’t say it’s a winner, since I haven’t heard anything else.
Tears Like Rain lives rent free in my head – I was thinking about this song all day today. So that’s my winner, but if Isaak or Ryk won I wouldn’t be mad.
Ryk, Bodine, Galant or Marie Reim.
Another year, another selection of mediocre songs from Germany. *yawn*
To answer the question who should win, it’s Undream You. Sweet song.
Never underestimate the German Schlager crowd. Mother Michelle and father Reim will are probably campaigning hard for daughter Marie.
Verdammt ich lieb dich is a mega iconic hit of her dad
The only one he had, I think. I don’t see the same fate for Naiv.
30th anniversary MeKaDo reunion on Friday, please.
Gee thanks, now I’ll have “Wir geben ne Party” on loop in my head again. This was before my first ESC memories (that was Guildo Horn actually) but it is so painfully 90s that I can’t help but love it. Reminds me of the songs I used to hear as a little kid..
Ne Party heut Nacht (oh yeah). I heard this in….. Amsterdam 2 years ago and had forgotten how good it was.
Ryk is the obvious choice here. Innovative, outstanding, high quality product.
Germany: Ryk
Latvia: Dons
battle of the solid male ballads this year then
France: Slimane
his is in french, so no
Ryk and Dons both shine in ethnic english, i respect everyone singing in english instead of their native language
Shining in ethnic English is a hilarious comment lol
So the United Kingdom isn’t allowed to sing English then? As it is their native language.
english isn’t the language of the UK though, english is ours
Just what exactly is “Oh Boy” about?
I have decided, that for me, it is about the unrequited love and lust that a gay man has for his hetero friend.
Such songs do exist. Here is Eurovision’s own Céline Dion with a story much the same. She is in love with her gay best friend, and it comes complete with a h o m o e r o t i c music video. A classic!
“He lives a life that I can’t share… oh, If I were one of his boys…”
https://youtu.be/iAZUTTskkeA?si=vRCWc8S3TpfDufbD
we all know what it is about, it is in english after all, no need to explain the meaning of this song
The lyrics are so vague, they could be about anything at all. Depression of some sort.
In the official ESC interview he confirmed that it’s about being in love with his heterosexual best friend, yes.
Really…? My interpretation is correct for once! How exciting. I never watched or listened to or read any interviews with Ryk, so the lyrics obviously have more power than I thought! Thank you.
Oh very original then – yawn!
Name two Eurovision songs that directly deal with gay issues in the lyrics.
Nous Les amoureux. Directly indirectly haha you name the 2nd
There IS no second, as far as I know.
Does it count as directly? We the lovers. Now that we know he was gay it’s direct. I suppose at the time of victory it was indirect. But i say it counts because we the lovers is an outright statement.
My standard is that if it is not obvious to the listener, it does not count.
so we are at 0?
Mahmood used some masculine pronouns in Brivdii, I think, so I guess that counts.
Brividi
Germany 2003; let’s get happy and let’s be gay?
That’s just a mischievous play of words. Overruled, sorry.
I think Ryk is the only one who could reach the left side of the scoreboard. In a year with only very few ballads he could even crack the Top 10.
With Bodine Monet there’s the risk of a flop (it’s ordinary radio pop after all), Marie Reim wouldn’t finish better than 18th at best and all the others are surefire Bottom 5 results.
rather Marie or Galant, and maybe a not good result, than something unauthentic of a duncan/dean lewis clone like Ryk
You know he wrote, composed and produced the song himself, right? And according to him, it’s biographical. Also, Ryk and Galant are the only ones not backed by one of the major labels.
so what? if he represents Germany at ESC, i choose his entry as my bathroom break by myself, also biographical maybe
i have no need in depressing songs like his, in depressing recent times like these
Remember, it’s a year with only a few ballads *so far*. There’s 23 more acts to come.
But we’ll get more uptempo songs from the Netherlands, Austria, the UK, Estonia, Lithuania, Croatia and Cyprus. Right now, I don’t know of a single country that’s likely to give us another ballad. Sure, there’ll be more. But this really appears to become the year of uptempo and crazy entries.
Leaving the way way clear for a ballad to win. All those kooky entries will cancel each other out and confuse the public.
If “Tears Like Rain” was an Adele song, it would have 400 million streams and be nominated for 7 Grammys.
This is not a compliment.
I know, right? big names can release so many meh whatever songs and they are treated like masterpieces.
Same for some countries in Eurovision…
Sweden and Ukraine come to mind.
I cannot forget about sweden robbing Jon Henrik’s norrsken in favor for too late for love
Ukraine make the right choices tbh, Stefania would’ve also done really well even without the backstory, its a good fun song
And the shouty song by the disqualified woman would have won by a bigger margin than Stefania.
John Mayer is a fine example of a big name who always serves us quality, same as Adele
Good music takes a lot of time to create and perfect it, rather than the mainstream easy listening fastfood
I do like John Mayer.
Bambie Thug’s vampire song is better than Olivia Rodrigo’s. Both are miles ahead of Adele, though.
I agree. We live in a simulation.
We know Bodine can perform flawlessly. Don’t count her out.
I know she can. And her song is nice, too. But remember how Germany usually fares with that sort of pop songs.
After one listen the only ones that i thought were ok were Floryan and Marie Reim
Marie Reim’s song is dull and dated Schlager without any complexity, but may sound “exotic” for some non German speaking listeners. With this entry in Malmö, Germany would show that they definitely gave up.
Tears Like Rain will do wonders at Eurovision. Ryk will just be a weaker version of Michael Shulte from 2018. We don’t need another pretty boy ballad especially after Dons won Supernova in Latvia.
Delusional take. Tear Like Rain is a super budget version of 2013 winner. Ryk is innovative and actually touching.
Ryk = english Molitva, Arcade and Tout L’Univers fused into one
nothing can go wrong for Ryk honestly
Throw in a “dance break” per Slo Mo, Solo, Unicorn and Loop for luck
“Tears Like Rain” has the pefect recipe to go to the contest.
Maria and Naiv, it’s time for Germany to send something in German!
I agree, it would be nice to have something typical German for a change. It’s difficult to say how a German schlager would do at ESC but I would take a risk.
Yeah, we should send something in German, but maybe something that’s actually good? Naiv is so outdated, even in Schlagerterms.
Sure, ”Tears like Rain” is catchy and radio friendly. However, it’s very difficult to do a choreography with this song.
It doesn’t need dancers, doesn’t need extras like pyro, lights…Only Led and Graphics.
That is the biggest problem of the song. As one of the big fives and as a big black sheep, Germany needs to think more clever about her appereance on the stage. I hope they invest in a good choreographer
pretty sure under the new voting system Ryk will win sadly
i don’t feel his song at all
either Bodine or Isaak, or hopefully Galant to win
Unfortunately, it’s true. The new voting system will help Ryk.
I prefer Bodine, especially if has a good live performance. But we all know that Ryk will probably win
Ryk = Duncan 2.0 meets Dean Lewis
i’m not a fan of depressing music sorry
Myb Marie will be 2nd with jury
That’s pretty unlikely. But she could very well win the televote.
Praying to Lord that Tears Like Rain will win.
